Stayed in the Mansardes room(s) at Au Clos d'Helene last weekend for one night. Charming property which felt very french; just wish we had had more time to enjoy (arrived quitre late due to the ever present 'bouchons' on the autoroutes) Rooms very comfortable and breakfast on the elevated deck above the flower filled courtyard was vey pleasant. If ever back in that area again will definitely rebook.

The photos on their site pretty well looked like the hotel but it is what is missing you need to consider. The owner told me not to takes cases to our room in case they damage her walls ?? We had the Mezzanine suite, which really is a bathroom and bedroom where the only connection is through an open platform, over the communal dining/TV room and kitchen. The platform/mezzanine has a roof sloping from around 6ft down to 3ft and a large beam which makes it even smaller.  This  means you have to crouch through the mezzanine to move around.  I hit my head and it hurt.    My wife is 5ft 2inch and still had to crouch to move around.  They put chairs here and we tried sitting in this area but, it was summer, heat rises and it was too hot for us to stay there.  You also get no privacy moving from bedroom to. Bathroom because it is over an open platform. The bedroom had only one external window, 7ft up in the air and about 12 inches square. There is an AC unit in the room which we left on and closed the door, or the heat rose into our room and made it too hot. There was no TV in the bedroom.Wifi only worked on the mezzanine/not in our room.My main complaint is that when we went out to dinner at 8pm, the owner had prepared and left breakfast things (including cups, fruits, honey and jam) outside/in the garden ready for morning (see photo taken 10pm).  In this heat and with chance of rats and heat contaminating the food - it was not a welcome sight.Come morning we were offered the same products that were left out all night.   Come morning I was given a cracked/broken cup.  We were offered orange squash - the cheapest orange drink that you buy in shops and dilute with water.  Also on offer were warm yoghurts and bread in a basket that was sitting on the table in the sun. I could not stomach the thought of eating any of it or using the cup - we paid and left.
