A own little house on poals on the historic river Rio Son Juan. Very romantic, quiet and peaceful place to spend some nights. Sleeping under the stars, waking up by howlermonkies and bird sounds, its just what you expect (and more) from a cabin at this very special location. The staff is very helpful and there are many activities to...

Well worth a visit! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sabalos Lodge (although 1 night was not enough). The open air cabina's over looking the Rio San Juan are amazing. Great place for relaxing in a hammock, watching wildlife and arranging various excursions into the jungle. There aren't really any local amenities, but that's what we liked about it -...

You may not skip this place whenever you are in Nicaragua! It is the best location ever if you love nature and quiteness. All the jungle sounds are great. The atmosphere is great and the people who are working here are really the best. Rafael thanks again. There also is a beautiful garden where you can see a lot already....

This is a special place - worth the trek from San Carlos and a good base to explore. Easy access to El Castillo and lots of tours. We particularly enjoyed the night time caiman tour and also hiring kayaks for self guided trip on Sabalo river. But most of all we enjoyed the hospitality of Ismael and Ronny who were...

Summary: I am a birdwatcher and discovered this lodge when I did a search for Nicaragua bird lodges online. I liked the idea of staying in a cabin by the river and having access to a private nature reserve. We stayed there for six nights and really enjoyed our stay. There is some room for improvement at the lodge, and...

We spent 2 nights in this lodge. The cabanas and their view are incredible (make sure you have a river front balcony). The place is tidy and decorated with taste. Shame that the managing and the personal aren't anything more than efficient. They hooked us up with costly, short and not very authentic walk in Indio Mais reserve. We suspect...

Dear visitor. Thanks for your opinion, it’s important for us. Personally I talked with the workers at the lodge. About the tours, all tours we offered are develop by the communitarian, they are microbusiness than receive benefit for their work. The Indio Maiz reserve became very muddy and the animals hide when they hear the noise. Because of that, we...

Fantastic base to go up river to see the most fabulous wildlife. We went with Eliecer from Jacamar and he was super (in Spanish). Lovely funny guy who knew where to look for animals. We paddled under a tree and sat below a group of howler monkeys and it was amazing. At the lodge, Ronny and Ilias were brilliant, sorting...

We stayed here for two night and really loved it. The lodge is very clean and pretty. At night we heard many sounds from the animals inside of the jungle which was very exciting! Inside of the lodge is not so much to do. You can relax in a hammock or do a tour. The staff was super nice and...

We stayed 2 nights in this lodge. Bungalows are great, real jungle-feel, no windows, just a roof and mosquito net to cover your bed. Staff is very friendly and helpful, they provide great meals and do their best to make you feel comfortable and at home. Enjoyed a fantastic tour through the jungle and to El Castillo. Surely 100% worth...

Rarely do you get to stay somewhere so special. Open sided cabins on the river front with all the sounds of the jungle and the river. It's a Nic'a Eco Lodge so it's rustic in places. The staff spoke good English and were were very helpful. Ignore the ferry timetable on their website it will be out of date. Ask...
