I went last year with a friend of mine to Hotel Sabalos. We are students, so we didn't have so much budget. Hotel Sabalos has fair prices and gives a very good service in return. The place is half in the water half on land, and has an amazing view. Hotel Sabalos team made us feel comfortable and helped us...

We were warmly welcomed in Boca de Sabalos by the staff of the hotel that came to pick us up after a 1,5 hour boat ride from San Carlos. Reception was quick and welcoming, we immediately felt fully at ease in Hotel Sabalos. The staff were very attentive during our stay informing us about boat changing boat schedules, the way...

Yes, you can go on tarpon fishing expeditions from here, as many do, or you can just sit on the deck with a fantastic view up and downstream and just watch the boats and birds go by. The "town" is across the Sabalos River--an easy "taxi" ride away. Good food, good service. Yes, it's spartan, but it's polished to a...

The hotel is in a fantastic jungle location and an ideal spot to embark on your Tarpon fishing adventure. Mariella and her staff are helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is served every morning from around 7.00am , we loved the omelettes and the bottomless tea and coffee. Dinner is served in the evening with a...

Stayed both prior and after our Rio San Juan adventure. Staff was great! Very nice menu and selection of drinks. Rooms are clean and very simple-the wooden floor is literally over the water. Last chance for wifi before continuing down the river. We took the kayak (double) down the Rio Sabalos and enjoyed the little river village sights and sounds.

Definitely the best place in this tiny hick town. Means you can pop over the river to eat with the local cowboys. Polished wood cabins with stunning views. Quite. Good food. Not cheap but worth it. Friendly helpful staff. Boat to door service!

Marvelous, comfortable Hotel Sabalos is right on the Rio San Juan. The Manager, Mariela was so gracious and most helpful. Meals are taken overlooking the river and are quite delicious. We also enjoyed their marvelous fresh salads without any problems. Beds very comfortable and the quarters so clean. We just loved this place, the people, river, wildlife. We used their...

Stayed for two nights here but it could have been longer. Wonderful riverside setting, beautiful verandah to sit and relax and take meals. The staff are delightful and the food excellent. Rooms are all wood with comfy beds, enough space and clean bathrooms. The river Sabalos is fun to canoe up and tours are available from here.

We stopped here only for dinner twice while staying at Sabalos Lodge, so we cannot judge about the rooms etc. The Food was really fresh and delicious and the service very attentive. The menu choice was also quite good, but no longer included shrimps as written in the Lonely Planet. Since you can get here only by boat, we asked...
