This is such a lovely hotel. I was looking for a quiet getaway where I could lie in a hammock among palm trees on the beach. Bambu has a very nice seating area, with five hammocks, a couple of futons, and many chairs. Since the...More

Very serene and laid back spot. Cabañas are rustic and very nice, kept very clean every day and with comfortable bed. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay directly at the beach. Nice communal kitchen and familiar atmosphere.

We stayed in a second floor room because we asked for maximum privacy. This allowed us to leave bamboo sliding doors open to the ocean. Beds were fine and second the comment about best mosquito netting ever. I also did not realize the lack of...More

We are travelling to Oaxaca this Nov and are thinking of staying at Bambu in a 1st floor room; looks like it may be cooler than the ground floor rooms with the options of opening the doors at night while you sleep. We have been enchanted by its rustic charm, quiet and oh so beautiful beach and excellent reviews, but we're a little worried it might be more like a hostel/backpackers than a hotel. Is this the case or am I overthinking it? We were also looking at some of the other hotels nearby that had a pool. Did anyone miss having a swimming pool to dip in after a day on the beach? Lastly, can anyone recommend any places to eat near by? From looking at a map it looks like there are more food options in Zipolite, is this easy to walk to or are there enough places in San Agustinillo to satisfy drink and dinner options throughout the day? We've opted for San Agustinillo instead of Zipolite as a base as it's quieter and looks like it might be better for swimming. Be good to hear your thoughts! Thanks so much!
