We stayed at this fantastic lodge for 3 days last week and want more!!!! Thank you to Rita (and Leila) and Sammy and Baccari for making our time with you so memorable. The Lobster you cooked was superb and the rest of the food fantastic as well. The lodge is simple - if you are looking for plush surroundings you...

The Shimoni Reef Lodge is absolutely lovely and a great place to go to when you want to have a quiet and relaxing time. Service and food is very good and rooms are clean and spacious but basic without for example airconditioning but there are fan's to keep you cool. When you go to a place like Shimoni you mainly...

Fantastic stay and end of our Kenyan experience. Couldn't thank the staff enough for such a wonderful time. The breakfast and dinner included in the price was of fantastic quality and freshness but the overall value for money was a little poor for the location and level of accommodation. Hope to come back again.

We had a fantastic 3 days at Shimoni Reef Lodge and would like to say a big thank you to Rita, Sam and the rest of the staff who made every minute of our stay a pleasure. No request was denied and food was devine! Request the Ginger Crab for dinner one night and don't turn down a seafood platter!...

We were in Shimoni during the month of March and we spend one night in this resort. The place is nice and it is the only decent accommodation in Shimoni so we decided to stay. At arrival the manager was very friendly to convince us to stay, they charged Euro 200 for 4 people in a house with two rooms...

Both very experienced combined divers - travellers with an eye for unspoilt idilic places we have been in lots of places like the Middle East, Afrika and on the beaches of all oceans. Shimoni Reef Lodge was one of the best places we have ever been. The cottages were clean, spacious and with no phone, noisy AC or flatscreen the...

A small personal hotel which caters for individual needs. Nothing is too much trouble and our stay was a memorable experience. The hotel fronts onto the sea and there is a charming sunbathing area right by the sea. Should you wish to swim in the hotel pool, that too is most charming. The hotel Dhow provided an excellent "Sundowner" trip,...

Shimoni was much further away from Diani than we expected... it' s along road, and driving through the tiny finishing village I truly did not know what to expect... However, once we got to the reef we were greeted by Rita and Sami - both absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. The lodge is in a great location, nice pool -...

The service at Shimoni is excellent and the hotel feels homely and friendly. My girlfriend and I stayed for 4 days at Shimoni Reef Lodge and really enjoyed our stay. The lodge is located in a quiet and simple village (this is a very different experience to Diana up the coast). There are a number of excursions; scuba and safaris......

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Shimoni is full of amazing experiences……. For 20 years we have served sport fisherman, scuba divers, snorkelers, dhow trippers, honeymooners and friends to explore, discover and feel the Kenya of Old, where time has mercifully stood still, and the masses have not taken over. Now, we also offer unique accommodation, just 6 spacious comfortable cottages, a roof top suite overlooking the Wasini channel, and a residential house for visitors who prefer to do some self catering. There is also a pool, a spa service, and at our bar and restaurant, a revitalized exciting menu for our guests who just want to relax and enjoy the privacy that Shimoni is special for. ... more   less

“TRAVEL TIPS: • order your seafood in advance – the local lobster is great – and enjoy eating it watching the sunset on the terrace overlooking the channel. • allow some time just to walk around and see the real Africa . The village is a delight, and the slave cave / conservation area is interesting. • diving and snorkelling in the marine park – the hotel does not have a boat or dive school but works with dive schools in Shimoni/ Wasini Island – so you need to book your dive/boat trip in advance. They will even arrange for you to be dropped off in front of the hotel so you can avoid the walk back to the hotel from the pier.”

“In case you are with a large group the bungalow is a good idea. In case you want to have it romantic ask for the honeymoon suite with the stunning view but the cottages are certainly very good and all are steps away form the pool and the main building.”
