Camp Poe is probably one of the most blissful experiences I had in my travels😇 There is no superlative I could use to describe how peaceful and welcoming it is there. Jules and her staff will make you feel at home even before you arrive, once you're there you realize how privileged you are and very lucky to book it. The delicious food, the refreshing pool, the tranquility in the air, the efforts they put in order for their guests to feel relaxed and happy, all that will make you feel blessed. Please enjoy it for a week or so, however don't block their entire calendar because we're coming back soon 🥰🤟🏾🌊☀️🇱🇰

An unforgettable experience at Camp Poe. Thank you so much guys, you really made our first few days here in Sri Lanka very special. It's difficult to pinpoint my favourite things about our stay because we loved it all that much. I feel people just need to come and experience this oasis of a hotel for themselves :) we'll keep in touch and be back in the year!

This place is a gorgeous jungle oasis, if you want to meet some likeminded souls and escape the cares of the world for a while then this is the place! I had a wonderful week here relaxing and recharging while getting to know the lovely people who call this place home, even those like me who called it home temporarily. I can’t wait to return. Thanks for everything guys, you went above and beyond to make my stay extra special!

Outstanding yoga and community experience in Camp Poe, on Ahangama beach. I took a yoga package and enjoyed 11 sessions over 6 days, including high-quality Vinyasa and Yin, as well as introductions to aerial yoga, SUP yoga and a yoga-on-the beach session. The Vinyasa classes were designed to answer my needs and the Camp Poe teachers, Jules and Kat, were simply excellent, be it in terms of yoga knowledge, corrections and guidance during flows and care/kindness. I highly appreciated the "à la carte" programme that was designed for me next to yoga activities, including a temple visit, and several suggestions of activities. Food (breakfast and dinner) was healthy and very good and accommodation cosy in a simple style. However what makes Camp Poe stands out is its friendly and warm atmosphere, created by Jules, Kat and Ashley who constantly ensure that the guests are satisfied and enjoy the activities they want. As a solo traveller, I was lucky enough to meet very nice guests with whom I hung out during my stay. The place is really great for solo travellers who like socializing and as a female, I felt 100% safe. Other guests -couples, families- were enjoying a more private stay, Camp Poe being suitable for both styles. I highly recommend the place for yoga lovers and travellers looking for peaceful and caring vibes.

Couldn't have stayed at a better place. Jules, the owner, created a very loving atmosphere and her massage is amazing. Spacious and clean, and feel kind of luxury for being this cheap. I stayed in their tent dorm which was a cozy experience. And fell in love with their black dog ❤️

I absolutely loved my stay at Camp Poe and it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. It has a very unique feel camping among the forest and fantastic facilities. The food is incredible and we all agreed that they make the best curry that we tasted in Sri Lanka. The staff were so nice that they even showed me how to cook their curry recipe which I have taken home with me. The surf equipment is amazing and it is nice to finally go to a surf camp that has a wide selection of boards for all abilities and surf conditions. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away and the sunset surf's are beautiful! The yoga is also very good, I particularly enjoyed Ben's quantum yoga classes and doing yoga first thing in the morning was so relaxing. Thank you all for such a fantastic stay and I hope to see you again soon. Mike

I have stayed one week at Camp Poe during peak season. Overall the experience was positive. The location is nice (very close to the sea), the guest community was very friendly with good vibes. Activities proposed are numerous and the team is dynamic, available and friendly. The pool, jungle set-up amenities are good. Then why only an average rating? I found that the stay, albeit nice, was quite expensive with the sometimes unpleasant experience of being generously milked for my cash. I slept in a basic tent for which I was charged 80$ per night (it had two beds but I booked the tent just for myself). Considering the pricing levels of very good hotels in the area with air-con, great amenities etc, I found the 80$ borderline outrageous, even though I accepted to pay extra for some privacy. The tent itself was pretty basic, its equipment was used and I could barely sleep for a few nights, thanks to the noise of dogs barking all-night long or loud techno music some nights…not to mention the monkeys/animals crawling over the tent which I however accept as being part of the "jungle experience". On the other hand, I was not part of a surf group lesson but rented the equipment directly at the camp. Each one hour rental was charged about $10 which I also considered crazy expensive as it probably costs a few times less in welligama, with no discounts or "free rides" offered despite that I was renting it every day for an entire week. The food is a buffet which was ok but nothing extraordinary. On the way back to the airport, the driver (a local arranged by the camp) tried to make me pay for the highway toll on top of the transfer price already paid at the camp, which I obviously refused. Even though the place has a cool chilled-out vibe, as a single traveller guy, I left with the not so good taste that there was no mercy to charge me anything top dollar.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we take on board all of your points and have responded to those which we feel needs some attention. We loved that you enjoyed your stay but are saddened by the negatives, we strive to be the best in our sector in our own subtle friendly way. "I have stayed one week at Camp Poe during peak season. Overall the experience was positive. The location is nice (very close to the sea), the guest community was very friendly with good vibes. Activities proposed are numerous and the team is dynamic, available and friendly. The pool, jungle set-up amenities are good. Then why only an average rating? I found that the stay, albeit nice, was quite expensive with the sometimes unpleasant experience of being generously milked for my cash." We are not sure what you mean by “milked for my cash.” There are two ways to stay at Camp Poe, you can join us for accommodation only, which still includes breakfast every day and 5 out of 7 evening meals, or as most do, you can join us for accommodation with a package, this is the preferred stay, where you pre-choose the package most suitable for you, be it surf, or surf and yoga, etc. These packages include all your surf lessons, yoga lessons and some other activities like our weekly drum circle and art workshop, so, your days are full of activities with earned down time. If you join us for a package you also get a 10% discount off accommodation. " I slept in a basic tent for which I was charged 80$ per night (it had two beds but I booked the tent just for myself). Considering the pricing levels of very good hotels in the area with air-con, great amenities etc, I found the 80$ borderline outrageous, even though I accepted to pay extra for some privacy. The tent itself was pretty basic, its equipment was used and I could barely sleep for a few nights, thanks to the noise of dogs barking all-night long or loud techno music some nights…not to mention the monkeys/animals crawling over the tent which I however accept as being part of the "jungle experience"." Our camp is a 2 minute walk from the main road, however really very quiet, but of course the street dogs, monkeys and bird calls can interrupt a peaceful night, the garden is designed like a mini jungle and with that comes jungle animals and well, the street dogs are just a part of Sri Lankan life out here. Our prices reflect all our amenities, location, and the spirit of Camp Poe, so, of course you could have found cheaper alternative hotel accommodation, but that buys you a room, not an experience. But having said that, our tents are ready for a little maintenance, Sri Lanka’s humidity kills fabric, and so, we annually repair and improve our tents, and the Safari Tents are on the top of the list for a little revamp. Added to this, you did come in peak season without a package. If you came in shoulder or low season and booked a package you would have grabbed a way better deal. We also offer returning guests a 10% discount on accommodation so if you were to come back we hope to set the record straight and offer you a price that you are satisfied with. "I was not part of a surf group lesson but rented the equipment directly at the camp. Each one hour rental was charged about $10 which I also considered crazy expensive as it probably costs a few times less in welligama, with no discounts or "free rides" offered despite that I was renting it every day for an entire week. The food is a buffet which was ok but nothing extraordinary. On the way back to the airport, the driver (a local arranged by the camp) tried to make me pay for the highway toll on top of the transfer price already paid at the camp, which I obviously refused." It’s a shame you didn’t take our surf or advanced surf lessons, as then you could have gone surf guiding with our incredible head surf instructor, that way the price would have included all your board hire, and taken you on a really exciting trip around the best surf breaks the south has to offer. We take pride in our equipment, and it’s true that at $10, per half day board hire is more expensive than just taking one from the beach, however, you get to use top quality equipment with boards that are maintained to top standard. Did you speak to anyone about a week rental deal? I am sorry if you did and you were not offered anything, as we normally take it case by case and probably would have offered you a small discount. "Even though the place has a cool chilled-out vibe, as a single traveller guy, I left with the not so good taste that there was no mercy to charge me anything top dollar." We are genuinely saddened that you feel this way, we try our best to host beautiful open fun, and caring people, and our staff love to host and create the cool chilled out vibes. I guess sometimes people are looking for something else, which we cannot be, so, we wish you well and hope your next trip to Sri Lanka brings you all that you wish for.

Myself my best girlfriend and a few other friends of hers arrived at Camp Poe in 2019. We honestly had the best time. The camp was really clean, other travellers were friendly and open to chatting. The food provided was really delicious. We also found a hotel across the road that did great massages and if you had a few drinks by the bar they let you stay by the pool and watch the waves at the beach from poolside. They also did a great crab curry. Highly recommend Camp Poe, I'll be back.

I absolutely loved my stay at Camp Poe! I came as a solo traveler and had the pleasure of connecting and networking with incredible like minded people at the camp! Being in my mid 30s i was conscious of age at camps but this place was absolutely perfect! I was so afraid of the ocean and surfing and by the end of my trip the amazing instructors made me have a surfing obsession! The food is seriously the best i have had in Sri Lanka. I loved everything about my 2 week stay and i most definitely will be back again!
