Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The original plan was to stay at Eco Villa for only 2 nights and because we loved the place we ended up staying there for 6 nights. The host is so friendly and will make everything to please you. The rooms are very clean with AC, hot water and great WIFI. Also, the breakfast is generous and food. We will come back !

Second time at the Villa and another great stay. Very clean, warm and welcoming. Family very helpful and friendly. Loved seeing little Shane the dog. Only thing I found was at times I felt like I was intruding in their family home as they had so many friends, neighbours, and family turning up. Would stay again though.

We are so pleased to be able to stay at this great family run accommodation. Chamath and his family are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are large and clean, aircondioned though you don't need it as the house is so cool and friendly. A good Breakfast is included and a true Sri Lankan dinner can also be made on request. Just a pleasure to be here.

Thank you to Chamath and his family for making me feel part of their family, I had a wonderful stay here and will be returning. The room was clean and comfortable, the food was superb, and the family literally went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed, even down to my tuk tuk driver each day, my washing was done for me, and taking me shopping in Galle. Thank you mama for letting me cook for you. See you all again soon xx

We arrived tired from travelling to this stunning Art Deco haven of tranquility, intending to stay only 2 nights and ended up staying 6 nights and wishing we could stay longer. The home cooked food was some of the best we'd tasted! Our room was stylish and very comfortable. Incredible value for money too with breakfast included and the evening meals very inexpensive. The wifi was fast and really good. The house is immaculate and spotlessly clean as well as the kitchen where the incredible meals get cooked. The dinning table over looks a pretty garden where peacocks arrive in the morning to wander. Our hosts were there to help us with any tourist info and also arranged our transport to the airport with an excellent car and driver. The heart felt care and helpfulness of our hosts meant that we shed tears when we departed from this wonderful home away from home.

I was sitting on the porch of this beautiful, colonial style home sipping a complimentary cup of tea feeling very relaxed and thought I'd write a review. The owner, Chamat is helpful and hospitable, the grounds are immaculate, the room is very very clean and comfortable, the wifi is good and the hot water, hot. Overall a great place to stay! Location is close to the market, so you can easily pick up some supplies and use the kitchen here. You can ride a scooter a short way and you are surrounded by jungle and tea plantations. Mother makes a really nice breakfasts! Enjoy!

Initially I booked this accommodation for 2 nights and After the first night I extended my stay until the day I had to leave for the airport. Chamath and his family go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable and at home and help you get to see all the lovely places you want to visit. Chamath organized a boat trip, several massages and an airport drop off for me. The food cooked by his mami is the best Sri Lankan food I've had in 3 weeks and the breakfast is outside in the beautiful garden, however you like it (eggs, fruit, tea, coffee, toast, etc). The room is very clean and there is airco and hot water. There are some local shops in the street where you can buy toiletteries and fruits/veggies. The best beach of Sri Lanka (next to Mosvold Villa) is only 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes by tuktuk (150 rupees). I would highly recommend this place for solo travelers like me, but also couples and families will have a wonderful stay here. Thank you Chamath for everything and hope to visit you again in the future!

My wife and I just spent one week at the Ahangama Eco Villa and we were extremely pleased with our stay. The setting is quiet, it's off the main road so there isn't much street noise and it's away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy area. It's just a short walk through town to the beach, only a few minutes and there's always tuk tuks waiting to drive you anywhere. The house is SO clean and well maintained! There is a large common area in the front and our rooms was complete with soft linens, Air conditioning, hot water shower, mini refrigerator, storage and a very luxurious bed that was SO comfortable. We ordered dinner most nights and the staff prepared lovely Sri Lankan meals and accommodated for our vegetarian diet. The food is delicious! Chamath, the owner, was extremely helpful and arranged a scooter rental and gave us some great advice. Oh wow, as we are leaving just now there was a knock on our door and the sweet lady who does the cleaning just handed us two fresh coconuts to drink. That says it all...it's the best, cleanest, most real Sri Lankan homestay in the area for sure. I highly recommend you stay here to experience local hospitality...it's a gem!

What a night. We arrived here after having travelled for 6 hours by bus, having escaped from the worst accomodation we've ever stayed in, we were looking forward to a nice relaxing Christmas in a peaceful and clean place. The reviews all looked amazing so we thought it would be great.... On a arrival we got a warm greeting and were shown our room which was incredibly clean and had a really nice bathroom. The owner then advised that there would be Christmas celebrations with BBQ etc and some music and would we mind about the music? We said no problem - it's Christmas after all! We were so tired from having had no sleep the night before, we just had some fried rice at the accommodation and then went to our room to sleep. The Music had been turned on and there were a few people in the yard outside our room enjoying BBQ. This was all no problem for us but as we were almost asleep - around 9pm, the music got louder. By 10pm in was deafening (even with ear plugs) and by 11pm is was so loud our bodies were literally vibrating in our beds from the horrendously loud thudding music. We complained at this time and the music was turned down and then off (Thank goodness) before a bit of a fight broke out right outside our room!?. We then tried to get to sleep but the Airconditioning and loud generator in the bathroom were still so loud we could here it even with earplugs. So while the accomodation was clean and the two woman (mother and aunt?) were absolutely lovely - especially when i got bitten by a centipede! We really didn't have a nice stay here and our Christmas was definitely one we wouldn't want to be repeated. If you do stay, check your AC here to ensure it's not loud. On our check out date we advised the owner who had actually known about the problem with the AC but hadn't been bothered to fix it was really frustrating too and we would have had a better nights sleep. The location is also very undesirable with nothing to do. Not really any beach unless you surf and even then it's not very pretty. No good food around either. Better places to stay! The best thing about the stay was the coconut roti for breakfast - the best we've had in Sri Lanka so thanks for that.
