Excellent rooms, nice garden in between the rooms and the river with a good swimming pool. Everything well maintained and a great staff that went the extra mile to accommodatie our needs. This hotel is great for kids (swimming pool and playground).

We stayed here only one night, fortunately, on our tour, Reception was good and welcoming, but there it stopped. The room, in the main building, was dark and gloomy, smelled damp and musty and there was a single bed impeding access to the bathroom. I asked if this could be moved but their suggestion was to push it closer to...

We had dinner at Kalu's. The place is a treat for cricket lovers and specially for Sri Lankan supporters. The interior is great. Food was also delicious. We tried traditional food. It was a delight to be there. If you are lucky you may meet a cricketer there though we weren't that lucky. Only issue I have is I didn't...

A small hotel with a nice infinity pool overlooking the river. It was not busy in mid April. The communal areas are spacious and the service is good. The food is reasonable but not as exceptional as in many other similarly sized hotels. Breakfast after an early morning safari was probably the best meal. They are clearly concerned about protecting...

I read the reviews sitting by the pool. Its not a chain hotel. So don't expect samey treatment. Its quirky. Food reasonable. Room clean. Infinity pool great The only downside are the small bugs which are attracted to the lights after dark. They don't bite or sting but are just really annoying as they nose dive behind your glasses and...

From the moment you walk in to this lovely hotel, you are greeted by the friendliest, helpful, and delightful staff. This continues throughout your stay and makes this hotel a most relaxing and an enjoyable place to stay. The location is ideal for a relaxing weekend and the food is exceptionally good. We stayed for 2 nights. The safari ride...

We were really disapointed with Kalu's Hideaway. The decor was very dark and dingy. The "block" we stayed in was dark and with unattractive bedrooms. The garden was odd as overlooked the veg patch. The pool was dirty and had brocken tiles. Our bathroom had ants and dirty looking towels. On the positive , the staff were lovely, smiley and helpful....

Our arrival was really good. Got a free foot massage whilst waitingfor our check in. Nice pool and the deluxe room were spacious with a good sized balcony. They arranged a safari for us which was really good. Unfortunately we were a bit late for beakfast due to the safari, but the cook still made us some ommelettes. Dinner buffet...

Kalu's hideaway should stay hidden. It had bloodstains on the floors, grimy shower screens, dirty sheets, broken air conditioners and the balcony was infested with flys, mosquitos and ants! The pool was murky and the food was horrible! The only upside was leaving!!!!! The staff were nice but not too helpful. Do not stay at kalu's hideaway!!!!!!

A difficult review as had a number of minor incidents here and does summarise a number of places we stayed in sri Lanka. The general staff happy, courteous and very helpful but the managers seem to think they are above any criticism and always think they are right wandering around telling people what to do. We unfortunately had one of...
