Stopped here after visiting a nearby national trust property. Staff very nice. Ordered the beef roast dinner. Meat initially came up abit pink which neither of us like so asked for meat more well done. This request was handled fine. The meat though was a big disapointment. Fatty and sineuwy in places and tough to cut. Also had peppercorns on...

Me and hubby visited The Chequers after having travelling from Essex to play a round of golf at the local golf course. We were thirsty and hungry and found this establishment by accident and were so pleased we did! We both had the lasagne, salad and chips and it was tasty and very filling! We were made very welcome which...

Called in at lunch time on our way home from Scotney Castle . The pub was busy but we were welcomed warmly by the two ladies waiting on the tables. Our meal was very good indeed, so reasonably priced, but what really made it was how well the ladies served all their customers. They missed nothing and were always on...

Enjoyed a great roast beef dinner with my wife sitting in the secluded and tranquil riverside garden. Lots of seating and friendly service. Good pint of Whitstable Ale but other ales had run out. Will certainly be going again. The garden also has a play area for families with young children.

We arrived late night and were made welcome immediately. A decent pint of ale was soon in my hands and good natured banter with the locals ensued. The room was adequate and bed extremely comfortable. The traditional English breakfast, of your choice, is as good as you will find. Nicely presented, clean, and cooked as I like it. The gardens...

Stayed here for one night as somewhere to put our heads down following a wedding nearby. The accomodation was ok. The bed was comfortable but small for a double. The bathroom could do with a little modernisation. The pub has plenty of character with wooden beams and creaky floorboards throughout. Food was good, we had lunch the day of arrival....

I visited The Chequers today with a group of Ramblers for our lunch stop- what a great discovery! Good food, fab and friendly service and just a welcoming place to be! All 8 of us loved our lunch and the genuine warm welcome we had. A couple of us had been previously during a pre walk and had the same...

I booked to stay here for a wedding. My friend checked in before the wedding and I met her at the church. Later that evening I went back to the pub to settle in, the pub was closed and it was dark with no lighting to see anything. The keys did not work to get into the pub, the doorbells...
