Very warm welcome from Gerry the B&B owner who gave us some delicious homemade cake to enjoy with our tea. Spacious room, very comfortable bed, antique furniture, bathroom with mod cons. Breakfast included fresh fruit salad, home made bread and full english vegetarian breakfast. Very good advice on walks and places to visit around Rothbury. We felt very relaxed in...

I don't know where to start in the praise of this wonderful B&B, I can't find the words to do it justice. Gerry greeted us with a lovely smile, and after introducing us to Nell, his lovely dog, he patiently waited while we unloaded our bags before showing us our room, and what a room, the Writing Room is airy,...

Hillcrest House and its owner, Gerry, made our recent visit to Rothbury an extremely enjoyable experience. The house has been beautifully restored and is a peaceful, welcoming place to stay. Met with tea and cake on arrival which set the tone. Our room (Mrs Pringle's) was very well appointed with spacious ensuite shower room, hospitality tray, TV and furnished in...

I cannot speak highly enough about this place. This B&B is comfortable, spacious, and - best of all - vegetarian. The beds are very easy to sleep in, the meals are well-made, and there are a plenitude of outdoor walks to go on very near-by. The proprietor is very kind and welcoming. Simonside is visible from the Writing Room.

After making our booking, Gerry sent us a selection of vegetarian menus as we had chosen to dine in. So glad we did; everything freshly cooked and really delicious. Gerry is an excellent host/cook and the dining room was so inviting with a roaring fire, specially after a long drive through mist and rain. Home made cake and tea on...

If you want a lovely place to stay in a lovely town, then Hillcrest House is just the place. A prepossessing Georgian property in spick 'n span condition from top to bottom. A delightfully and warmly furnished room with spotless ensuite facilities including a vigorous power shower. In the morning a healthy vegetarian breakfast was on offer which included a...

There are some wonderful B&Bs in England, and Hillcrest House is up with the best of them. Gerry Hoye, the proprietor, is an excellent host, with a very kindly manner, and clearly a man of admirable ethical principles. The B&B is located on the upper side of the High Street. if coming from the A1, and, as its name tells...

This place was like a little sanctuary. The room was peaceful and roomy and it felt like having our own place. Gerry was such a chilled out sweet host that went above and beyond the call of duty, even before we arrived. He wanted vegan ideas for breakfast and then stuffed us silly with plenty of creative, healthy and tasty...

We had just one night in Rothbury on a road trip through the Borders and Northumberland, and we were made very welcome in Hillcrest House. The bedrooms are lovely at the top of the house, and breakfast pancakes are highly recommended! We had only a short stroll to the pubs in the centre of town, but Hillcrest is a quiet...

We stayed for three nights. It is a lovely house, with spacious and charming rooms, and were made to feel very welcome. A lovely breakfast to start the day, and a warm drying room for our wet outdoor gear at the end of the day.
