Just returned from holiday and had a fantastic time. The location of this hotel in my opinion is hard to beat. Stayed in one bedroom lodge and it was ideal. Right beside the loch with bedroom overlooking the loch. The lodge was clean and nicely decorated throughout and the bed/pillows very comfortable. The food was lovely - freshly made and... More

Went to this hotel with my hubby from the 14/06/13 - 17/06/13, it is in quite a remote location but very beautiful & quiet. The views are simply breathtaking with a very relaxing atmospheric surroundings. You do have to be aware of the nat's at times as they do like to bite but we only noticed that the one night... More

We had read previous reviews and were pleasntly surprised when we arrived here after the long drive from Yorkshire. Check in was well organised and friendly and our room in the Coach House was clean and spacious for the price. We followed the advice from other trip adviser posters and ate for the first night at the bar about a... More

The only saving grace of this hotel is its location. First visit in 2009 with our daughter son in law and year old grand son in one of the log cabins. Could not fault the whole experience. Second visit with two friends in 2011. Same deal but totally different. Arrived at 3.30pm, had to wait 3hours to get into the... More

Nice hotel in a stunning setting. The staff are very friendly, but unfortunately not very efficient. (I got the feeling that many are temps with a summer job who will be moving on soon - very pleasant but not really bothered!). Having said that, the location of the hotel is wonderful, and if you get a sunny evening (yes, it... More

Hired a lodge for 2 nights. Where to start. Electrics not switched on. Jacuzzi (specifically booked) wasn't working the whole stay. 7 light bulbs non functional. No plug for bath. Limited toilet roll. Rooms Ok except non functioning bedside lamps. Bathroom very run down. Cleanliness not great. Oven very slow to function. Lodge for 8 only had cutlery & crockery... More

Dear Guest Thank you for posting your review of Portsonachan on tripadvisor. I am sorry you were unhappy with your lodge on arrival, the housekeeper has been informed of your disappointment with the standard and re-training has been implemented. I have tried to post a copy of your confirmation, showing that the lodge was booked on a self catering basis... More

I must point out at the outset that I have never stayed at this hotel but my experience in dealing with the management should be recorded as a warning to others who may be tempted to follow. Like most of the hotels guests, I was tempted to take up an introduction "Show Offer" at the hotel - 3 nights bed... More

I wonder if the management read these reviews because they are saying what we also felt and not much has changed if anything. The location is good and the suite we had was good too. However the revive was poor. Every meal involved us asking for things which should have been on the table. Everything we ordered for dinner on... More

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/help/our_guidelines_for_traveler_reviews My wife and I bought a 3 night break at the RHS Flower Show, Tatton Park 2012. On arriving at the Portsonachan Hotel, on 28 May 2013, we find the surrounding area to be absolutely stunning, with truly magnificent views round every corner. The room we were allocated was opposite the main hotel in the annex, the room consisted... More

We prebooked the hotel at a Food Fare in Cheshire. The hotel was on the banks of Loch Awe near Cladich in Scotland. A picturesque position. Check-in was satisfactory and we were told that the tap water was not drinking water and that bottled water was provided in the room and would be replenished as necessary. There was no bottled...
