We booked the sister hotel, Landmar Playa Arena with Jet2 - a few days before our departure we were informed that our hotel was closed and we were given the option of paying more (we'd already paid £3800 for 16 days) to move to a different hotel or book into the Los Gigantes. We knew of this hotel previously and had found it a bit too family-oriented but as we were desperate for some sun, we accepted. We had paid for the plus-package at the other hotel which we didn't get at this one - sadly the barman was unable to make a cocktail properly so we hardly bothered with the all-inclusive drinks. We did have a nice room, but no-one helps you with the luggage or with proper directions as to how to find your room - we ended up dragging our heavy cases up two flights of steps unnecessarily and we are not young people. Having said that, because the hotel was not full we could get away from the many toddlers without having to pay the extra 40 euros per day for the private beds which we thought as gold band wearers they should provide for free. Our room was good and not too far from the restaurant which we enjoyed, although as plus guests we did expect to have a better quality wine and a separate dining area as at the sister hotel. The Christmas gala dinner was really good and the staff worked very hard to keep everyone safe. There is a large indoor entertainment area which only seemed to be used for the kid's club and was mostly deserted, and the bar area was very basic and not at all tempting to spend any time in. There was often a singer outside but once again the seating area was dark and uninviting so we didn't bother. As Jet2 made us leave before the borders closed, we missed NewYear. Overall, we had a nice few days and the staff did their best under trying circumstances. We would still not book here if the sister hotel becomes available as the other hotel is better for couples, but for young families the Los Gigantes is ideal.

We've spend 1 week me and my family in that hotel and we are so gutted, basically that hotel with covid restrictions look more like being in Prison than being in holidays, we've paid the full price for 1/4 of the services available, people from the reception and security guys doesn't talk any words of english which is a big lack of professionalisms in a tourism business, and the security guys doesn't show any respect for customers.

Dear Fliyingdutchman44, Thank you for the time you have taken to write a review of your holiday experience in our hotel Landmar Costa Los Gigantes. We are very sorry that your experience did not met your expectations. Unfortunately, due to the current situation in Tenerife, we have severe restrictions, so it is impossible for us to open certains services and we also, we have to respect all the restrictions as there are laws from Canary Islands gouvernment. All our staff at reception and guest relations speak english, security guard are not forced to do it, although some of them speak english too. Hopefully we will be able to fulfil your expectations in the near future, and remain at your entire disposal for any request you might have regarding coming vacations. Regards,

We had an enjoyable stay here over the Christmas holidays. Positives. Hotel: -Spacious, luxurious and clean. -3 good sized pools + paddling pools and a slide. Pools are heated. -Fun activities such as mini-golf, splash park, zip-wire, mini-tennis, mini-football, archery, climbing apparatus, table-tennis & yoga classes. -Spa (not used) -Fully equipped gym (not used) -Really good entertainment hall with an adjacent games area. -Only 10min walk from the beach and town. -spermarket 10min walk away up steep hill. Rooms: -The suites are a decent size with a separate bedroom, many with a sea view. -The rooms are cleaned every day. -The beds are comfortable. -The rooms have air-con. -There is a TV in the room but we didn't watch it, too much fun in the sun to be had! Food: -best food we've had at an all inclusive, different cuisines everyday. No British cuisine, a Sunday roast would've been nice. -food is available all day and late into the evening, with the snack bar providing a good variety. Drink: -Both non-alcoholic & alcoholic drinks were ok, beer decent local lager served in a glass mug away from the pools! -Wine in the restaurant is nice but elsewhere it is not palatable. -Cocktails are available but basic. -Slushies available both alcoholic & non-alcoholic -Upgrade to premium imports an option at extra cost. Staff: -Friendly on the whole. Particularly the entertainment team who were excellent! -Well staffed, we never queued very long. Negatives. Not an awful lot really. - The holiday was sold with A la carte meals in a few restaurants but they were shut at this time of year. -a €2 charge for the use of an iron for 2 hours. - The hotel took a very strict approach with the covid measures which I felt were over the top given everyone there spent a lot of money on PCR tests before arrival. If we were to be treated like we had covid in any case, why are we being asked to go to such expense if on arrival if we are treated from the outset like we have it anyway? Staff were quite rude about it as well, even complaining if the mask wasn't worn correctly. After all this there is scientific uncertainty on the efficacy of mask wearing yet the Spanish seem to have gone to the extreme with it.

We just returned after spending 11 days over Christmas. A really large Complex. It was Farley quiet which suited us. We had a suite, plenty of room, we had a fridge but No drinks Had to go searching for water to the restaurant. Was fine the 1st few days when you could serve ourselves, suddenly changed where staff served us. They couldn’t understand what I wanted so got a shovel full of what they thought you wanted. After walking around looking for what I wanted I gave up. Started to have 2 rolls with bacon. Easier to collect. Evening meal, by the time you’ve walked round and waited to be served the meal was Cold, they did have a Microwave handy. Everything was very safe and clean. Beds were comfy Considering I have a bad back. Evening were a bit lacklustre After the dinner, we got fed up sitting in the Bar. Nowhere To have a quick walk, hilly and was quite Cold. We go away every Christmas but never been as cold as I was this year. Needed to cover up well. It’s well Equipped for children. Play areas, water features. I don’t think we would be Happy there in the summer. Plenty Of Buggies around. Saying all that, we did have a decent time because it was half empty.

Dear paul11Manchester, Thank you very much for your comments regarding your recent stay in our hotel. We are happy to know that you have felt safe with us and we are very sorry for the changes suffered during your stay, but the Canarian gouvernment implemented new measures in Tenerife and we had to change everything very quick. Finally, we are glad to know that, despite of the circumstances, you have enjoyed your holiday. We are looking for your arrival in the future. Best regards,

We visited during CoVid restrictions and were very impressed with the measures taken by the hotel and staff to ensure a clean and safe environment. Staff made sure rules were adhered to at all times. Mask and gloves had to be worn (properly) when getting food in the restaurant. Masks worn at all times in public areas except when actually eating, drinking, or sunbathing. The hotel was not even half full so there was plenty space to social-distance. The staff worked so hard to keep the whole place clean. Rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day as well as public areas. The staff could not have done any better, and this was much appreciated. Rooms are well appointed and are good size with a nice balcony. The hotel’s situation would not suit people with mobility issues, or even those with young children in a pram. Very hilly! It’s fine to walk down the hill though, and only €3 taxi to get back. Even though the all-inclusive was excellent, we did try some local bars and restaurants as they were so quiet that we felt we should try to give them some custom. Really nice restaurants a five minute walk from the hotel. No complaints whatsoever about this hotel. Staff, service, and food all excellent. Would definitely go back. Lovely, relaxing holiday.
