Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Janet and John are not only fabulous hosts, but they have a wealth of local knowledge about the area’s attractions that is worth its weight in gold. An amazing breakfast sets you up for a day of exploring this lushly gorgeous part of South Africa. Our advice is to not be fooled by any tour operators into spending only one night on the Panorama Route - it is worth exploring over a few days and Porcupine Ridge is the perfect place from which to base yourself. Could not recommend more highly!

We stayed here for one night during our trip to South-Africa. The guesthouse is located near Sabie Village on a hill, this makes it a beautiful and peaceful location with a great view from the garden. The owners, John, Janet and their dog, are very welcoming and they made our stay easy and pleasant. The breakfast is also very good!

We stayed at the B&B for one night en route to Graskop. The hotel is located up quite a steep unpaved driveway so a little caution is required when going up and down. We were greeted by a one-eyed horse at the top of the drive who refused to budge so a bit of manoeuvring was required but we found the situation amusing. Apparently, the horse belongs to a veterinarian neighbour of the B&B owners along with some of her other menagerie who also visit the B&B. The owners (Janet and John) are a very friendly English couple and we were made to feel at home. They also have a lovely golden Labrador called Millie who likes a good tummy tickle. Our room was comfortable with a great shower and a view of the lovely garden. There were some nice touches like good quality bathroom toiletries, a very affordable well stocked mini bar and tea/coffee with biscuits. We ate dinner in town at the Wild Fig restaurant which was very nice and only a 10-minute drive away from the B&B. Breakfast was plentiful with cereals, juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, toast but as we had eaten so much the previous days couldn’t manage the hot breakfast offered. We went on our way after an enjoyable stay after chatting with the hosts about our onward trip and receiving some useful advice on roads/routes and a sad face from Millie.

Stayed for 5 nights at this beautiful B and B! It really feels homely and comfortable and the two hosts ( Janet and John) are such warm and interesting people to chat to. The rooms are cozy and kitted out with everything one needs. The view from the outside patio is awesome! There are many beautiful and interesting places to visit nearby, or one can just chill- like I did!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners are just the right amount of talkative, makes you feel at home but not overly intrusive. Did a pleasant walk up the mountain with the owner, what a lovely view from the top. Go visit the waterfall, we did not have time.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are always happy to be complimented on the cleanliness of our guest house as a great deal of effort goes into keeping it that way and our staff love to hear that guests appreciate their hard work. We really enjoyed meeting you and it was only a pleasure to make you pancakes. It made a nice change from cooking bacon & eggs etc., we even had some ourselves :)
