A very friendly welcome from the owner and shown how to access the hotel late at night etc. Room on the second floor which for my partner at 6 ft 2 ins was a little small. However light and airy with en suite. Very attractive for breakfast and dinner and easy access to the bay of La Foret only a few hundred yards down the road.
The hotel was easily found and the rooms had free WiFi. The staff were very friendly, helpful and real 'characters'. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only down side was that the room was uncomfortably hot at night as there was no air conditioning and no fan was provided. The menu was extensive, catering for all tastes and meals were reasonably priced. The food was freshly cooked and very tasty - so good in fact that we decided to eat here on three consecutive nights. The hotel proved to be a good location from which to explore southern Brittany.
We last stayed here 40 years ago and were pleased to see that it still existed. Alas for its sake we seemed to be the only people staying on the 2 nights we were there. You certainly could not complain about the price. 60.00 each night for a couple including breakfast. The room was comfortable enough. A bit dated as were the communal areas. The room was clean and the shower was good and strong. We had a very peaceful nights sleep. As it was Sunday the restaurant was closed. Breakfast was served until 10 so we had a good lie in after our 5 hours drive. It was typically French. Nice baggetts croissant and good coffee. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I hope it survives
A very French experience. We have visited this fine restaurant several times a year for many years and never been disappointed. Last night was exceptional. My wife and I both had a set menu of about 25 euros and started with a wonderful plate of araignee crab which was so fresh delicious and generous followed by scrumptious pintard beautifully cooked, in cognac sauce served with beautiful vegetables . The wine list also has many excellent wines in half bottles. I chose an excellent 1997 chateau brown which was a snip at 26 euros. What a splendid meal it was in friendly and convivial very French homely place where the food really mattered.
We parked in the private park at the back of the hotel which was useful. Our room was quite small & sadly the bedcover had a dirty mark on the underside so not a good impression overall. We did not eat there in the evening as the menu was not inspiring but the two breakfasts we had were excellent with very friendly staff. The fire extinguisher at the top of the stairs had not had a service ever according to the service label on its side - why?
