Just had a lovely 4 night stay over the Easter weekend. The staff where very friendly and made you feel welcome nothing was too much trouble. The food was really tasty and plenty of it. The room was clean and a decent size. Would recommend this place and would stay there again. Thank you for a lovely break.

My wife and I visited this pub on the recommendation of a local. We only visited for a couple of drinks, but the pub has a great cosy atmosphere, is very traditional and has both rooms and food available. Prices were very good, and the service likewise. I look forward to calling in next time we are in the area.

I don't like to write too many negative things on tripadvisor - i don't like to harm small businesses. However in this case the food was of such an appalling quality and the lack of service so lacking i felt the need to highlight this pub to other travelers. I ordered a Nut-Roast which was cold and stale on arrival...

I had high hopes after all the five star reviews but have struggled to give it one after a disappointing meal. Came into the back entrance through the car park only to be greeted by a horde of smokers, a huge pile of cardboard and a load of bin bags, not very pleasing to the eye. Pub itself olde worldy...

We pulled into the car park and could see a few people stood around the backdoor smoking. As we approached the backdoor we could see that at least one of them was clearly a chef. He was sat on a drain cover by the kitchen door (not a very hygienic place to sit whilst working in a kitchen!!) He was...

Phoned them shortly before 5pm to check if we could have our dog with us while we had a meal. No problem, says the guy, reserved us a table after we said it would take an hour or so to get there. We arrived about 90 minutes later, found our table with our (named) reservation on it, and a warm...

Warm welcome on arrival. Easy check-in,room very spacious everything you needed for a short break. Make your own breakfast up and the chef cooks it excellently. Good location if you want to visit other parts of north Yorkshire.Very good shower and comfy bed well worth a visit even for some food and a beer.

The food is ok. Everything was hot and tasty. The wine list was pretty basic but adequate. The waitress was happy smilie and checked we were happy which was the best of the hospitality. This is a real locals pub which is nice to see but not overly warm to outsiders. Not a bad place to have a bite to...

If in this area I would highly recommend... The photos do not do it any justice.. Staff very welcoming on approach and the landlords Nic & John as well as the local couldn't have been more hospitable. Rooms immaculate and beautifully decorated. We were using The Masons Arms as stop over on our weekend I The Yorkshire Dale's...
