Loved the idea of staying in a castle! But found the staff unfriendly, basically took copies of our passport handed us keys- all with out saying more than hello. This disappointed us greatly as we were very excited to stay here. As much as I tried to get something out of them I had no luck, even if they didn't...

The castle is magical! The location is breathtakingly beautiful. The room was simple but very comfortable. Our view included part of the castle and the mountains. The staff were wonderful and helpful. I cannot wait to return.

We have just returned from 10 days at this Castile de la Frontera - not to be confused with the new Castillar some 7 miles away. Initially it was magic and very romantic and a fabulous treat for my birthday. Alas we should only have gone for two/three days not ten - by then we realised that no-one spoke English,...

Sadly didn't stay in the hotel but friends have and really raved about it so we took the opportunity to look around inside when we stopped off for a coffee whilst visiting the old town. Fabulous and sympathetic renovation makes this hotel unique. Stone / pebble floors and feed byres left in situ all added to a great atmosphere. Not...

Great old castle now a hotel. Well worth the crazy drive up to it.. amazing views over Gibralter 10 miles away... worth the extra few euros for the superior room. Four poster bed with balcony great size with double bathroom. Well worth a visit to stay in an historic castle.

The castle and surroundings are fantastic, the views are amazing, you can see for miles.. Within the walls of the town, there is the castle, craft shops and houses along steep and narrow lanes. It is beautiful but no good if you are not very mobile. There is also very limited places to eat or get a drink (although I...

A well restored Moorish Castle and village within the bailey. Panoramic views, tranquility and 'la naturaleza'. The hotel is not luxury but comfortable and oozes history. The atractive white village is tightly packed within the castle walls, with narrow alleys and a profusion of flora. An absolute must for anyone travelling through the area!

Although the hotel is quite basic, the fact that is actually inside the old castle makes it well worth a visit! The views from the hotel & in & around the tiny quaint village are nothing short of spectacular! The restaurant is actually a few metres from the hotel & the food was good & reasonably priced.Breakfast is served in the hotel...

Kids loved this hotel, a genuine castle. Fantastic views over the lake. We arrived after sunset and met deer crossing the road to the castle. Great staff, fine excursions, restaurant in the castle and several around. We had a family room for the four of us, you can also rent a small holiday house, though the views are not as...
