It is like a fairy tale, the location it is AMAZING, the hotel has all you need in a very good maintenance. The staff is very kind and the breakfast it is so good! with multiple choices. The hotel is clean and quiet. the Room with the balcony is really a dream when you open the window doors. The castle...

The castle and surroundings are fantastic, the views are amazing, you can see for miles.. Within the walls of the town, there is the castle, craft shops and houses along steep and narrow lanes. It is beautiful but no good if you are not very mobile. There is also very limited places to eat or get a drink (although I...

A well restored Moorish Castle and village within the bailey. Panoramic views, tranquility and 'la naturaleza'. The hotel is not luxury but comfortable and oozes history. The atractive white village is tightly packed within the castle walls, with narrow alleys and a profusion of flora. An absolute must for anyone travelling through the area!

Although the hotel is quite basic, the fact that is actually inside the old castle makes it well worth a visit! The views from the hotel & in & around the tiny quaint village are nothing short of spectacular! The restaurant is actually a few metres from the hotel & the food was good & reasonably priced.Breakfast is served in the hotel...

Kids loved this hotel, a genuine castle. Fantastic views over the lake. We arrived after sunset and met deer crossing the road to the castle. Great staff, fine excursions, restaurant in the castle and several around. We had a family room for the four of us, you can also rent a small holiday house, though the views are not as...

Amazing place to stay as it is a really old castle and linked to the ancient village of Castellar but not a conventional holiday resort hotel as areas for eating and drinking are either in very dark small rooms apart from having drinks on stark tables outside in the sun The cruiticism applies to the seperate restaurant in the castle....

The hotel and its small cottages in the town are the only places to stay in the old town so they have the place to themselves. We thought there was a choice of 2 restaurants but the second one turned out to be run by the hotel as well with identical menu. Don't get me wrong, the town is impressive...

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night in May 2015. This was the first time we have stayed in a real castle and we had great expectations. The whole experience was very disappointing. The room had a nice view over the lake but the room smelt damp and musty! The outside of the hotel looks like a castle but...

This time we stayed in the suite as the very top of the castle. This is an excellent use of space, the room has a tiny little walkway through to another room and stairs up the very top the castle for your own private terrace with wrap around view from Gibraltar to the lake behind the hotel and so on....

Friends recommended the castillo to us and we're so glad we stayed. It's in a spectacular location, it's been tastefully restored, and the rooms are comfortable and full of character. If you want to watch 20 or 30 griffon vultures soaring gently overhead each morning, and to have a room with a balcony 10 metres up looking out over the...
