I like the feeling of being in a family home, and the friendly people working there. But the rooms are not equipped with heating system, which was making it difficult to sleep during this cold time. The wi-fi was also very bad, but that's mostly the case in the city unfortunately

I recently returned from visiting Lubumbashi for 4 nights. I was worried about what the rooms would look like but they weren't as bad as I expected. I stayed in room 13 which was one of the rooms that haven't yet been renovated. The fridge was so tiny but well filled up. Bathroom was all old furniture, old toilet, old...

Lubumbashi is an expensive place to do business so the assumption is that anywhere decent to stay will be expensive! Despite the Hollybum's strange name, the hotel is very good all things considered. I found it to be clean comfortable and very attentive regarding our needs. Breakfast was good and the staff were helpful and friendly. The best thing about...

Stayed here several times between May and December 2015, and mostly enjoyed the stays, except for when they put me up in the tiny Room 3 where the wifi reception was too weak for me to connect - avoid that one. Food is good and service is variable but the staff know me so we get along fine. If you...

The restaurant has a French Chef I am told and the food is great . The rooms are large , clean and staff friendly. There is a pool for the hot humid days .I was in a room with a rather noisy air conditioner but a small price to pay for a comfortable bed. The only downside is no gym...

My organization used to put all of our travelers at Hollybum until we heard about an armed robbery that took place recently (around September of 2015) in the parking lot/restaurant area. The ATM machine is in an open air pathway between the restaurant and the rooms and is apparently quite a target. Our organization's security team will no longer approve...

Dear Rachel, First of all I would like to thank you for sharing your experience with us and the contribution to our TripAdvisor page. We find regrettable to learn that your organization chose another establishment for their travellers. Concerning the incident, it is important to acknowledge that it was very unfortunate. It was also a unique event and thankfully nobody...

I recently visited Katanga Province in the DRC. On my last night in Katanga before returning home I stayed over at an establishment in Lubumbashi called Planet Hollybum. I took a large double room with en-suite bathroom at the rate of $160 per night. The accommodation was very large and spacious and I estimated it to be around 6 metre...

Spent three nights here on a business trip to DRC. Nice rooms, fridge in room, nice bathroom, pleasant surroundings. The swimming pool and gardens are well looked after and the service friendly although a little slow. I really have no complaints apart from the meals and drinks being exceptionally expensive.

I have not stayed at the hotel but visited the restaurant of several occasions. The place it selves is becoming more and more popular and I will for sure consider also to stay here when visiting Lubumbashi again. The service is good their steaks are fantastic so don’t hesitate, try it out yourselves if you are in the area.

The Planet Hollybum is a bit of a surprise. From the name, to the rooms and the food, this hotel will provide some solace in a difficult part of the world. What can you expect when travelling to Lubumbashi in the DRC? The atmosphere of the location once you get off the streets is pleasant and feels like a bit...
