The place was very average. Not really worth all the hype in lonely planet. Don't get me wrong, the location is good and the room is clean however, the attitude of the owner made it an unwelcoming place to stay. He had the 'I dont really care whether you stay or not as I will have the next come along'...

We really enjoyed our stay here! The family was extremely nice and helpful, the food very tasty (both breakfast and dinner) and the room had a touch of the comfort one has in a boutique hotel! Last but not least, the house is perfectly located. We strongly recommend it!

You can't pick anywhere better to stay in Santa Clara than right here. You have a lovely home to stay in with utterly lovely people who just want you to have the best time. Doerk and the girls are so enthusiastic about Santa Clara and the Casa. They will (on request) cook you a lovely dinner, and a delicious Cuban...

We stayed at Familia Sarmiento for one night in June 2016 and had a fantastic time. Doerk made us feel completely at home and gave us plenty of recommendations for things to do and see in the city. The rooms were great, as was breakfast and dinner, which they kindly prepared for us. I'd recommend Familia Sarmiento to anyone passing...

We stayed here for 2 nights and quite enjoyed ourselves. The casa is a block away from a large plaza and is in a very central location. The 2 women working there were absolutely wonderful. Mary made delicious meals and was one of the nicest women I met on my trip. They gave us free coffee, smoothies and mojitos, which...

As the name says, this is not actually a "casa particular" but a hostel business. And one that would get a low rating wherever in the world whith a stringent tourist authority. The reception, to call it somehow, is a stand-alone PC on a desk in the living room, which is also where breakfast is served. Our room was between...

We stayed in this casa particular in March 2016 and it was fine. The owner did not bother to talk to us and we got the impression that he was a little arrogant. The girls, however, were lovely and very helpful! This casa has 3 rooms and 2 of them don't have a window and the other room with a...

Really annoyed to find on arrival that they claimed not to have had a booking for us despite the fact that the booking had been made for us by the tourist office. Judging from other reviews this is by no means unusual. The owner told us the town was very busy but "luckily" he had a friend who had a...

We booked with one day in advance, and the host told me that they were fully booked but he would find a room in another casa particular for us. Luckily, at the end a room got free so we could stay at the house! They invited us for a drink and a snack because they were celebrating the birthday of...

The hostal people said hi and immediately sent us nextdoor to a different location nextdoor; why do they overbook? The lady which greeted us had great English and provided plenty of info on the town attractions. A welcome drink was arranged. It was a spacious house. In the evening I decided to rest and not go out and a lady...
