I think that just about sums up what the owners of the Bay Horse are doing, 'blagging it'. I arrived completely open-minded, really looking forward to a night at the Bay Horse. I'd previously been in for a pint by the fire a yearish before and thoroughly enjoyed it, however this experience couldn't have been anymore more contradicting. We arrived... More

The pub has a welcome feel with roaring open fires, however once you get past the bar, there are steep stairs to the rooms. Ours was on the top floor and was so small, it was difficult to get round the bed!! The bathroom was also small with a loo and shower and a very small hand basin. Fortunately everything... More

Our annual trip for my uncles birthday celebrations this year was a night at the Bay Horse b&b. We had been the yr before for a quick drink by the fire whilst staying somewhere down the road. We assumed then it was a cosy place for next time. Total mistake! Our party of 8 arrived at different times on the... More

Go here for a pint by the fire nothing more the whole rest of my experience was hell. For what you get here the rate is ridiculous. This is the first place I have ever walked out of when should be staying a night there and I'm young so more resilient than most people. There is a lot of illegal... More

This place looks cosy and we booked to stay for a night with friends. We ordered a bottle of prosecco with 4 glasses, the bar maid said they only had 3 champagne flutes in the wool pub, she then gave me a very large wine glass to use as the fourth glass... It only got worse from here. We had... More

This pub is in need of a makeover!!!! Our room was small and cold and the food was average at over average prices! Crockery and cutlery were decided grubby. The worst part was being told we couldn't have puddings as the kitchen was closed and could we vacate the table as the band wanted to set up!! Oh dear!!!!

An excellent pint, Fireside from Bury St. Edmunds, before the Masham fireworks. Friendly atmosphere with a nice crackling fire. Just the thing for a November evening. Local beers from the Theakston brewery also on tap.

Shocking. Room tiny. Pointed out that the room was freezing so asked them to turn the heating on. They responded that the heating was on a timer and couldn't go on any earlier. Got back around 11.30 and there was very loud music coming from the pub which obviously stopped everyone sleeping. To charge this price is shocking.

The staff were very polite, the bar area is very charming and has loads of character. The room though was very small,( you have to walk sideways between the bed and the wall) it was quite dated and the bathroom had quite a lot of fittings missing or broken and the shower hose leaked massively. The evening meal and the... More

We stayed for two nights in two different rooms. Both rooms were reasonable, but not outstanding. The whole building is a little tired. Breakfast was hot, but a little greasy, Excellent location though right on the square.
