Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very hospitable and attentive staff. Quiet, comfortable and warm room which had been recently refurbished. Decent dinner and breakfast with a good choice of items. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Recommended.

Hotel's Favourite
Delighted to say that all the family and friends who attended our wedding were impressed with the highest standards of hotel hospitality. The welcome is genuine, the will to do well and provide guests with every comfort and convenience is sincere. Carol was our Wedding Manager and communicated with us throughout the planning process. Sultan took charge on the big day and guided us through every step of the day with courtesy and ease of a practiced professional. James ran the bar and catered for the needs of all generations with cheerful, polite efficiency that never faltered. Indeed all the staff who attended to us over the two days were delightful and helpful. Catering and food quality were exceptional throughout our stay. The bar was stocked to suit all tastes and needs. The hotel is spotlessly clean and Covid restrictions are managed with due care and attention - happily reassuring. The venue itself is a little piece of heaven on the banks of the River Usk. All I can say is a heartfelt thanks to one and all who worked with us to make our special occasion such a success. Happy memories that will stay with us forever.

Although it is just off the A472 at Usk, we were never bothered by traffic noise. The grounds are very pleasant and there is ample parking. We stayed in Room 3, a good-sized room on the first floor with a four-poster bed. I am used to a super king mattress and it was not noticeably smaller. The room was a little tired decoratively in a few places but very clean and there was ample storage. The en suite was spacious and fitted with a large bath and good-sized shower cubicle. The bath, washbasin and wc were very new Villeroy & Bosch units – all were kept spotlessly clean during our two night stay by staff we did not chance to meet. Just two things might have been improved: the drawn curtains did permit some light to enter – I prefer a very dark room for sleeping; and the radiator frequently emitted strange gurgles – to the extent that we turned it off completely to avoid disturbance during the night. We dined in the restaurant both evenings after a drink in the comfortable bar. There were not many other guests and we enjoyed very attentive, courteous and efficient service from the wait-staff. The food was excellent: very substantial portions of fish and vegetables – all beautifully cooked. The staff were uniformly excellent: attentive, friendly and very helpful – a real credit to the management. While it was not a cheap room or meal that we chose, we felt our stay represented good value and we certainly hope to be able to return.

We got married at this venue back in 2020 (covid wedding but that’s another story), so we booked in for the valentines overnight package when we saw it advertised as we haven’t yet had chance to go back and visit. Can I just say how fantastic it is, the food was incredible, wine list was extensive, service was really helpful - they went above and beyond where possible. Friendly faces, breakfast was really tasty too. Bathrooms up to date and modern. Short walk into Usk. If you’re looking for a nights escape this is the perfect place for peaceful, quaint and welcoming. Lots of parking.

We were married here a year ago, and returned for our anniversary with the children. Just the warmest welcome from everyone, this is still the most wonderful place, lovely people, amazing food, portions are so so good, afternoon tea is the best I've ever had or seen. Accommodation is just wonderful, we were spoilt with the bay room, huge and with a four poster, but the children had a twin, and it was beautiful. Cannot fault this hotel, its staff, its food. It is going to be a place we will return to often.

A lovely hotel, friendly smiling staff, comfortable bed, spotlessly clean and the food was delicious. We had slow cooked pork belly to start and rib eye steaks cooked to perfection with a complementary sorbet between courses. My husband demolished a creme brûlée too. Breakfast was also lovely, all made to order. I had a stunning fresh fruit salad topped with yoghurt and we both ate various items from the hot menu options. The hotel is conveniently placed for a walk around the village where there are many shops, pubs and restaurants.

On a beautiful sunny golden autumn afternoon a sublime lunch. A marrow rich oxtail soup, a melting buttery scone, a dreamy lemon meringue pie and delicious coffee. It doesn’t get better than this! For selfish reasons I’m loathed to give such a good review for fear of losing ease of access! Well done Seren and team, warm and welcoming friendly service too.
