Having trekked the circuit, we stayed in all of them. The refugios are located at Dickson (the only refugio on the North sector of the circuit), Grey, Lodge Paine Grande, Cuernos, Chileno and Torres. Dickson, Grey and Paine Grande are all owned by Vertice Patagonia. the refugios have dorm style rooms with 6-8 bunkbeds in each which are pretty basic...

When you arrive at this refugio after a long day of hiking, you can't deny that the location by the bright blue Pehoé lake is fantastic. But as much as I loved the setting, I disliked the refugio. This big shelter mainly lacks the cosiness and friendly atmosphere we had encountered at the other refugios. There was a long waiting...

I booked the 'W' circuit through Fantastico Sur and the final of 3 nights was at Paine Grande, the front desk employee was lovely but he was most definitely the exception. The rest of the staff were very indignant, it seemed our mere presence was an annoyance and when at the buffet style dinner and breakfast service EVERYTHING kept running...

I have never stayed in a place so bad, disappointing and awful. Arrogant manager who undermine every single people who is camping. In a place that is cold, rains, has strong winds and has a fire ban policy is unacceptable not to provide a place to dry your stuff and warm up. Even less to tell you that it is...

Horrible service, the staff was very mean and the place was really overcrowded with only one hot shower workin for the whole place, plus worse food in the whole w circuit. At 3h walking distance there is refugio grey which is much nicier, cozy and surprisingly cheaper.

For a mountain "refugio" in the national park, it's better to the alternative of camping, especially at this location since the campground next door is exposed to the elements. The rooms fit 6 people in bunk beds, with the only other amenity provided being a light and non-lockable bins to throw your stuff in. In the room we were in,...

This was our third night on the W Hike and by far the least cozy, as well as the worst night's sleep we got - due to the staff of the refugio having a party underneath our room until 2am! It tends to draw a lot of day-trippers due to the regular catamaran, which is fine, but contrasted pretty sharply...

All in all, the Vertice refugios are pretty decent for what they are. It's clean, and the there are normally three 2-bed-high bunks per room. Given it's location, it is very windy there and that creates a vacuum which slams doors shut. They try to mitigate this by drilling holes in the doors and installing those metal vents (like the...

I stayed 2 nights on the camping. Showers open from 18:30 - 22:00. Women have to wait up to 1 hour. Small beer costs 3000 peso, 5,5 dollars. On 28.01 afternoon I wanted to buy one, gave 5$ and 500 peso, the girl tried to cheat me and did not want to give me change. I speak Spanish and I...

Brought in 2015 New Year here and the staff did accommodate a celebration and hang festive decorations. The dinner was good. I did not have high expectations for the lodge: a place to sleep, a warm meal, and a hot shower. This Refugio fulfilled those expectations. Some of my group members got cold showers, but my showers were hot. There...
