The biggest benefit of staying in the refugio is not having to lug around gear and food. The food served and packed lunches are mediocre at best. Dessert at dinner was a syrup filled plastic fruit cup, which reminded me of an elementary school cafeteria....More

If you are staying in refugios with full board then it wasn't a lot more expensive to upgrade to a private cabin which overlooked the refugio and the lake. This refugio was probably the least organised of all the ones we stayed at - slow...More
