Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Modern and very nice hotel built on historic grounds. The staff was nice and helpful. The food was excellent. Overall a great experience and the best place to stay if you are interested in Norwegian Viking history.

A nice hotel in the middle of Norwegian viking history. Very good breakfast, quiet in the countryside, surrounded by farmland. In combination with a car, one can reach more urban areas within 5-10 minutes. 4 charging (7,5 kW max) stations for EVs.

We are a family of 3 whom this year decided to travel on holiday to the northern and western parts of Norway, where we started first in Trondheim, then on to Mo i Rana, further to Narvik, Alta, then Kirkenes, Honningsvåg (and Nordkapp), then Hammerfest, Tromsø, Harstad, Leknes - Lofoten, Sandnessjøen, to this hotel in Stiklestad, Verdal before continuing our journey. We have mostly stayed at Scandic hotels so far in all cities except in Honningsvåg. This hotel is beautifully located right by the historic site of Stiklestad from the viking era, Trondheim. The service is very good, the superior suite rooms quite spacious, quiet area but sadly no air conditioning, so way too hot for us on this hot summer night. Well worth a visit if you are into the vikings.

Thanks for your nice review! We’ve had some hot summer days, but most of the year the heat is no problem. Glad to hear that you experienced good service and that you liked the spacious rooms and quiet area. Welcome back :)

I would rather stay somewhere else in the area. The personnel working here are not very friendly. First when we booked over phone the girl we talked to didn’t have the time to explain anything or take our reservation. We had to book via OTA to get a good rate. We had trouble with parking and charging at arrival. When we got the key, the information was short and mumbling as we where disturbing the guy in the resection. Got annoyed at my first question. Didn’t get the WiFi pass to our room. Called to get it, but the guy hung up the phone. Score we understood the password. Food at the restaurant was ok. And facilities are amazing. However I rate the service highly and at this hotell they score so low I would not stay here another time. Scandic hotels in general are usually fantastic, so this was a big disappointment.

A family of four enjoyed one night at this hotel located on one of the most historic places in Norway. The hotel is formed like a Viking building, and the interior is very historical as well. Good food both for dinner and breakfast. Rooms clean and good standard. Great view towards the Stiklestad church and Olav the Saint monument. The King died here in 1030, but the body brought to Trondheim where the Nidaros cathedral was build upon his grave.
