I've been coming here with my family for over 10 years & the food was always good & atmosphere welcoming & games on the tables so good overall country pub; especially after a hike in stunning surrounding countryside. Unfortunately, the friendly man behind the bar who treated everyone like an old friend has been replaced by a young, stroppy girl...

Since we are staying at my sisters in Polegate whilst she is away we thought that we would have dinner at The Giants Rest where I have eaten on a few occasions int he past. Being early there was no one else there so was able to have a choice of tables. At first the barmaid didn't appear very friendly...

We booked here for my husband's 40th birthday celebration. We hadn't eaten here for a few years but it had always been good food and friendly. We now understand this must have been prior to the change of ownership. All started very well with a very warm and friendly barmaid. However, once we took our seats and the waitress, who...

We dined here in the evening. The atmosphere was very pleasant and we were warmly greeted. Food was okay although the choice for vegetarians is limited. Salad accompanying my meal was huge lettuce leaves and the dressing tasted like a commercial mass produced variety. My meal was not the best although the new potatoes were delicious.

After a long walk up and down Cuckmere Valley we were ready for a meal. We stopped somewhere that looked great from the outside, but the inside just didn't live up to our expectations, so we moved on and found The Giants Rest. Not so promising on the outside, but so glad we tried here. The atmosphere was relaxed and...

Baguettes were PERFECT! Bread was delish and I had the grilled halloumi, pesto and sundried tomato one and oh my god, a week later and I'm still not over it! Other great flavours too like smoked salmon, lamb sausage, and crab.

Stopped here on a very busy May Day bank holiday. Friendly staff. Only had a baguette each so can't comment on the fairly extensive menu. Took a while to arrive but was bank hol and busy. Mine was bacon, Brie and tomato and was delicious. Husband had spicy lamb sausage. Both very good. Lots of dogs in and outside the...

We decided to get to this pub early as we knew it would be busy lunchtime. So we got there at midday and got greeted by a young girl and we asked her if she had any tables left for lunch. She pointed at one table that apparently was the only table of two left that wasn't reserved, so we...

My girlfriend and I stopped here after taking our dogs for a walk over the Long Man. Wonderfully cheerful staff behind the bar, great surroundings and a nice warm fire getting started. We decided to stop for lunch and the food is amazing, met the gentleman who owns the place who is also the chef, had the most amazing sausages...
