We stayed at this wonderful gem, booked for us by our trusted Italian guide/friend Alessandra Chiti. We would have never made the trip there if it hadn’t been for her recommendation. Sadly because of the Coronavirus situation in Italy, the hotel was empty other than us. Nonetheless it’s owner Pietro and his staff made our stay so wonderful. We had the deluxe double room 258 sq ft which is huge! The room overload rolling fields and it’s spectacular. Room comes with coffee and tea making facilities which we really appreciated. The staff laid out a beautiful breakfast buffet spread - though it was just both of us. Gorgeous! Bellissima!!!

We were welcomed by Pietro, the owner himself and led up to a beautiful suite with a small living area (day bed, comfy chair and octagonal table) with a well-worn rug. The wooden floor was heated and the views form the three windows down the side wall were amazing! Bathroom was very well refurbished with black and white ceramic tiles and also heated. The amenities (non-branded) were what you would expect from a 5-star hotel with clean, fresh, fluffy white towels (3 sizes plus one for the floor). The wooden cupboard had two sections: One featured a double door (10 proper coat hangers and two shelves; the other side was a single opening door with 4 shelves, a small safe and an iron. Right next to the super comfortable king-sized bed was a tray with a sleek stainless steel kettle (1 litre), two coffee cups with saucers and some free coffee/tea, Our breakfast in the basement was also full on with the usual cold cuts, toast, cereals, yoghurt (served in glass canisters), eggs on request, side dishes such as sun-dried tomatoes, olives, plus a selection of cheeses. All this had been set up even though we were the only couple in the hotel. Pietro and his wife certainly know how to welcome guests in their charming 19-room property. Grazie mille!

The location in old historical section of Colle di Val d’ Elsa is ideal. Easy walk to see the entire town. The bed was outstanding for comfort and the room was nicely appointed. The breakfast and our server were excellent. Nothing like made to order eggs each morning. The patio overlooking the hillside is a great place to have breakfast. A couple of nice touches- the owner also owned a enoteca across the street and therefore offered us a free wine tasting. It also served some really good food. And, Marguerita was quite helpful in giving us some suggestions for travel There were some slight negatives however. The WiFi was not the best, slow at times. The bathroom was small and tight and offered no shampoo. The AC was turned off. Even after we asked for it to be turned on, it never happened. We were forced to open windows and since we were on the street side there was quite a bit of noise and the room never really cooled off. So for a bit of advice reserve a room on the back side.

Our stay was June 6 to June 11 of 2019. To start off we went to check in and couldn't find anyone. Lucky for us another guest told us where to find the owner. We had tried to call but hadn't used a phone in another country before and didn't know how to dial. If you are wanting to park you are probably going to have to park in the public parking. The staff and breakfast was good and the location was good for going to other towns in Tuscany. The reason I can't rate this higher is everday we would ask how or why the air conditioner isn't working. We were told it was a problem coming from the winter mode to the summer mode. At least they gave us a fan and we kept the window open to try to cool the room to be able to sleep. The last day we saw that they were replacing the AC. Management didn't offer any appologies or discount for not having a working AC as advertised.

We stayed in room 4, a beautifully designed room with fabulous views of the Tuscan hills. The bed is firm, so be prepared! The hotel is no frills but great as a base. The owners are super friendly and happy to help you plan an itinerary. My only comment would be the breakfast, for me there could be a better selection of fruit and some lower fat milk!
