Nice family friendly pub in a lovely quiet location. Food menu also good serving traditional pub grub. Very reasonably priced also. Nice to call in after a walk around the lake and have a drink or bite to eat. Great views of the fells!!

Beautifully situated in Buttermere with free parking and free wifi (not really up to anything other than receiving emails). The hotel is tastefully traditional. We had opted for the superior rooms, which are pricey for what you get, but not for Buttermere: the village is very sought after by walkers and there are very few rooms available in the village,... My daughter & I stayed at the Fish Inn Buttermere for a few days autumnal hill walking. I am a vegetarian and my daughter a vegan so I made sure to discuss this when I booked. They could not have done more to accommodate us, making sure we had vegan options for breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. The Inn... More

I don't understand why a pub on a great walk is not dog friendly, but the thing that really pisses me off is when you don't mention this on your website - you must disappoint so many people - have the courtesy to state your unfriendly status.

This was our second stay at the Fish Inn. Staying five nights this time. Once again we had a really lovely stay. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a view out over the fields to Buttermere. The bar staff were friendly, service was quick we ate in most evenings and I can say that the food was great... More

We are local people who have visited the fish inn for many years, leaving our car in the car park, walking round the lake & returning for a drink & bar meal before leaving. Yesterday we were confronted by the landlord in a very aggressive intimidating manner before the start of our walk. We tried to explain we would be... More

My title says it all really. We ate lunch here on 27/09/16 and thought it was a lovely place then. After walking 4 and 1/2 miles round beautiful Buttermere lake, we were tired and hungry and went back for tea as well - wouldn't have done that if it wasn't brilliant the first time! Good menu choice, excellent choice of... More

Booking was easy – Angela was crystal clear on the phone on the terms and limitations (e.g. no lift, some stairs, no TV) inspired confidence from the outset that this would be a guest oriented inn as it proved. Well positioned for views. Easy to find. Ample car parking. Away from the road so very quiet. Reception excellent on arrival... More

Stayed one night on a walking trip. The room was a little quirky with a few stairs and a half wall. It was clean, warm, the towels were great, there were in room refreshments. The best part was the quietness of the room (no staying above the kitchens or on a main road). The more it rained the bigger two damp... More
