We were in Kohima to attend Hornbill festival and had to book almost in a month advance. Yet, at the last moment we had to change our dates. So for one night we got a grand suite and for two nights a room. Though suite rent was double the room rent, the amenities offered were almost similar. Only difference was the space as the suite had a big living area, bedroom was much bigger and a huge bathroom. Since we got room in the backside, it was without any view but peaceful. The hotel is well maintained and clean. We did not take any major meal except complimentary breakfast. The options seemed quite limited. Even the breakfast consisted very few items. But I liked the grilled vegetables and the porridge in the breakfast. The location is convenient too.
Situated on the highway and easy to access. Rooms are costly if we compare with prices of similar hotels in and around. Good view frkmnthe too at night. Restaurant is attached and breakfast is served as complementary.
room is good, hotel is very good with good ambiance. BUT every body is not properly trained and very unprofessional. very very limited breakfast with shortage of manpower during breakfast time. Only one person was available during breakfast time.
This is a perfectly fine hotel. The room was very clean and reasonably spacious. The food in the restaurant was quite good as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there for two nights, during mid-January. There is no built-in heating in the rooms or restaurant (small space heaters only) so bring warm clothing!
was there for 3 nights during the hornbill festival . the rooms were clean and spacious , food was excellent, great bunch of friendly and helpful staff too the breakfast spread was great too . havd a great stay
It is a nice hotel with decent amenities. Clean bathroom. If you find any issue, hotel will rectify immediatelym The service is exceptional. Special thanks to Akum for being very responsible in general. He also went an extra mile and helped us find a cab when we had to rush immediately late in the night to Dimapur because of CAB bill issues.
Offers all facilities in nice clean rooms.... off season restaurant offers very little choice for food.... most items in menu not available..... don’t take odd number rooms as noise from highway traffic will disturb you...... staff helpful....spacious place
Rooms in this hotel are very well equipped - comfy beds, heaters, tea and coffee making, bathrobes and slippers, bathroom with lots of hot water, hairdryer and good toiletries. Wifi was best in the restaurant. Food was okay but nothing to write home about, though we did enjoy the porridge on a cold morning!
I stayed on a official trip. Located in central part of Kohima. It is a good hotel with all basic amenities....It is near to KFC also. staff is courteous and services are good. Breakfast served was ok
In December Kohima is a dirty, dusty, noisy unattractive town; the de Oriental Hotel was a good hotel. Our room overlooked the main road and the valley below and hills. It was a bit noisy in the morning. Rooms at the back would be quieter but with no view. Breakfast was good. There is no bar but you can ask for some beer and they bring it to your room covered in a tea towel! The only reason I can see for staying in Kohima is to be near the Hornbill Festival. This runs during the first week of December and is well worth seeing. If you plan to see that then the de Oriental is a good choice but you will need to book early as that is their peak week. Wifi in the foyer.
