Unprofessional staff!!! So rude! He almost kicked us out of the hotel! There was a pre-booking for me and my colleague for 1 and 2 nights respectively. We came one day after the planned date and the owner of the hotel literally kicked us out! He had cancelled our reservation without even calling first and had already issued the invoice and sent it to our company! When we asked if my colleague could use the room for the 2nd night he said that since we didn’t check in the first night there was no reservation at all!!! He claimed that this is a global policy! He got the money without even trying to help us! Totally unprofessional!
What an absolute disgrace of a hotel... We had booked a 6-night stay for our first holiday since the start of Covid-19, and we were looking forward to our stay in the hotel's best room - their suite. After a long drive, we were hot and tired and wanted to relax in our room. Nowhere in the details of our reservation with booking.com did it say that full payment of the remaining balance was expected on check-in. Yet this is what I was asked to pay. I've stayed in hotels all over the world, and the policy is the same everywhere: unless it's a prepaid hotel, you give your credit card on arrival to hold an amount, and then you pay on departure on being given a full invoice of your stay. This was entirely unexpected but, we wanted to check-in so made the payment. On arrival at the best room in the hotel, the a/c was clearly not working. We gave it some time to kick-in on the off-chance it had only just been turned on. 90 minutes later it still was not working and reinforced our view that the a/c had not been checked before our arrival. There was nothing in the mini bar either, and just one bottle of water. We then called reception who sent someone whose first reaction was that it was working! After another person came and offered us another room where a/c was working it was obvious that it was not working in our suite. We were also disappointed with the shower - no fixture to hold the shower head meaning you would have to hold the shower in one hand and attempt to wash with the other - fine in a 2 star, not acceptable in the best room in a 4* hotel. In other words, the hotel was already down in two core areas and we had only been there for 90 minutes. We moved to the room down the corridor with all our suitcases, which was probably the smallest room in the hotel. At least the a/c worked. However, the safe didn't. Utterly unacceptable. This meant we had to take our valuables down with us to dinner, but at least we were looking forward to a decent meal. Oh dear, wrong again. No other guests were there and we asked why. The lady at the restaurant said it was because there was no a/c so everyone was either eating out or eating in their rooms. We decided we had better join the second group and returned to our small room to order room service. When it came, the wine had sediment all over the bottom of the glass. Taken together, this was the final straw. I went down to reception and informed them that this was simply unacceptable, the basic standards promised by booking.com had not been met, and we would leave in the morning. I said we would be happy to pay for the small room since we had at least stayed one night there, but expected a full refund for the remaining 5 nights. The night receptionist agreed but said we would need to wait until morning to get it all sorted at check-out. Just as we were closing our eyes on a disappointing day, the phone rang around 11pm. It was reception to say that the a/c in our suite was now working and the room was ready for us to move back in! Coming so late in the day, we informed them that we would not move at this late stage, and again that we would be leaving in the morning because of the dreadful experience. The next morning dawned, and after breakfast we checked out. We were not given an invoice/statement. I asked about the refund and the day receptionist said we had to contact booking.com since our reservation was made with them but that once they had received a request through them a full refund of the five days would be made. We thanked them and the staff for being ever so helpful and just said it was a shame that things had not worked out. Imagine our anger and bitterness when we were contacted by booking.com to say that the hotel had refused to refund any money and in fact had charged us for the full 6 nights, including the rate for a suite we had not even stayed in! This toltaled more then €2,000 or around $2,500!!! This is simply outrageous and booking.com completely failed to support us too. In short, if you want to stay at a hotel without functioning a/c, no safe, showers for camping, shoddy room service, and a restaurant with no customers, this place is for you! If this is not your standard and you want to leave, then expect to pay handsomely for the privilege. This is theft by any other name, and we will be seeking redress through the banks (and if necessary) through the courts and Greek Ministry of Tourism. Do NOT stay here - EVER!…
Just had a horrible experience with the Belvedere after a very much looked forward to 6 nights in a panoramic suite. We entered the suite after we checked in and it’s steaming hot, we thought no big deal of it and reduced the AC temperature to cool it down, an hour later nothing happened. After a back and forth with reception and even the owner I believe came to check the suite, we were asked to move to a temporary room until it gets fixed. Went down for dinner at the restaurant and there was no one, when we asked the staff we were told that because the AC is not working inside the restaurant all guests are either in their rooms or out in town. At that point we thought this is not the relaxing holidays we’ve been waiting for, paying for a premium suite at a premium rate and basics are not even met. We told reception that we would leave the next day because our expectations and what was promised on the hotel booking.com page is not met. We told them that we will stay in the same temporary room no need to move us to the suite for that one night, but at over 11 pm when we are ready for bed we get called to tell us that suite is now ok. At that point sleepy, frustrated and tired we said no need we will sleep in the temporary room. Next day we left on the promise that we should coordinate with booking.com to cancel and the hotel would refund. To our horror a day later, booking.com is telling us that the hotel won’t refund the remaining of our stay. Just outrageous, even after the guy at reception (George) told my husband yes they would. The booking was not even prepaid or restricted. We left because the hotel failed to provide basic facilities and proper problem handling. Utterly shocked by the way the hotel is handling this, it is just Robbery in broad day light.…
Staying in room 101, with a terrific and spacious balcony, I can only recommend this place. The location is uphill (about 2km down to the beach, nice exercise if you are into it, as i am), and has a fine view of the sunset. Pool is not olympic sized but fine for doing some laps ( I think its about 20m length). Rooms are clean, fairly spacious, mini-bar/fridge, large beds, tv, safe, bath/shower.In particular, the staff of this hotel should be complimented. These days there is a lot more to do but Effy (excuse the spelling) and Elena manage things very well. Also, the reception staff were very helpful, organising rental car, taxis, etc. Didn't try the food beyond having a greek salad one evening, but if that was any guide, the rest should be good to. Breakfast is a buffet, well stocked. I see some posts suggesting it being noisy. IMHO its not, but I guess occupancy was low. Bottom line: Stay here.…
