I stayed here back in January with three friends and it was great, Paulo and Ana are great hosts and the hostel is a beautiful building stylishly renovated. Just like home from home, Paulo really cared about our safety in the city. The only downside is distance from the centre so maybe not ideal if you are travelling alone but...

The Safari hostel was fantastic! I stayed there for a week with two friends over Carnival. Paolo and his team could not do enough to please us, giving us a lift to the beach, getting medicine when one of my friends was ill, and generally being so friendly. It really feels like a home from home, rather than a hostel....

I'm usually quite picky with hostels so you can take my word for it that Safari Hostel is one of the best places I've ever stayed. It is located right next to the Tijuca National Park in a 150 year old European styled building with polished wood floors and lovely furnishings. Paulo is a great host who will help you...
