An interesting place, offers a big variety of different things to do and many of them are free when you book a stay or with a little money. We enjoyed our room with own sauna and we made short walks to grab some berries etc.
This is a peaceful place, not a big hotel chain. Note it is not in the city so moving around without own car can be hard.

Small rooms, extremely modest breakfast selection. Seemed a bit overpriced. Everyhting was nice and clean though. plenty of on-site parking. Might get better reviews from golfers. Will probably look for a different place next time.

The location is very nice, although a little far (driving 15 min) from Savonlinna, main town nearby.
Very nice lake and golf surrounding the hotel. Nice wooden apartments.
Breakfast was good.
A little expensive for what it can offer. Nice lake and environment.
Golf just there.

Nice cottage with sauna. Location near golf center. A bit away from Savonlinna center but not too fat away. At least two grilling sites for customer use. Also small beach to use.
Restaurant food was great. Not overpriced.
Cottages are close to each other but not too close.
Relaxing time guaranteed.

A "no service" or self-service, self-catering resort. Rooms adequate but dreary. Our sauna did not work. The food was edible but tasted mostly frozen, pre-cooked, processed or pre-packaged. The golf may have been glorious but we did not play. It rained every day. The staff showed a singular lack of interest in making our stay comfortable, interesting, entertaining or even mildly fun. The restaurant closed on Sunday without warning, as if "we should have known" and nobody was there for a guest locked out of his room.
It was glum.

Booked at short notice. All we wanted to do was to escape Jyväskylä and stay somewhere ‘pet-friendly'. We were going to head for Helsinki but hey … we go there eight to ten times a year to get the ferry to and from Tallinn. So we decided on Savonlinna. KHV was the only pet-friendly place within 25km of Savonlinna that had a room/apartment we could afford - €99/night.
We were unaware of the amenities offered by KHV until we arrived.
The resort is in the middle of nowhere, not a good venue for a lady seeking shopping therapy - and surrounded by typical Finnish nature - woods, lakes, more woods, more lakes and lots of fresh air.
This truly is a holiday resort within the layout of an extremely challenging golf course. The tee on the 17th is enough to drive a golfer to drink before risking a drive into either the lake or the forest. But it is more than golf. Fishermen line the banks of the lake that stretches down the length of the 17th hole. There is a network of paths in the woods, suitable for both stick-walkers and all-terrain cyclists, which we suspect in winter become ski-paths despite the rather odd no-skier sign (which I’ve uploaded). The woods contained a bounty of mushrooms, including a species my wife had never come across.
We were in C - a block of 4 single bedsit apartments each with its own shower-room and sauna. The sauna worked fine, the under-floor heating was up to the job and the wall-mounted Mitsubishi air-conditioning-cum-heater hot air fan worked too well. The block is protected, by netting stretching the height of the building, from errant drivers on the 8th hole. Blissfully quiet by night. We were out all day both days so cannot comment on the behaviour of the golfers - were they cursing at the course or chattering happily? The balcony of Block C sadly faces away from the fairway, so we could not spend a leisurely breakfast watching the golfers.
In any case breakfast, in the central building that houses the Reception desk and a conference room, is included in the price. Never one for turning down freebies, we took advantage of the offer. The choice is about equivalent to any of the Ravintola style restaurants lining the Helsinki-Lahti road. Good, wholesome but nothing to write home about. Evening meals are by pre-order only, and are what in UK used to be known as Basket-meals (i.e. deep-fried from the freezer).
The lack of attention by the staff towards our presence did not bother us. Any thoughts that at these prices the staff should be more attentative towards their guests is misguided. In Finland, hotel prices are high and attentative staff come with a commensurately high price tag.
A word of advice - if as a result of the current circumstances of Russia’s unethical behaviour in Crimea and The Ukraine you do not wish to see or hear drivers of vehicles with car registration plates bearing a white, blue and red tricolour and the letters RUS do NOT book into the Village. If you don't mind their presence but value your car - do avoid parking anywhere near one of these cars or anywhere where a driver is heading- I nearly lost an open door to a clearly blind 4x4 driver who made no apology for either his speed of approach or lack of attention.

I fully support the earlier reviews about ambiance, piece and quiet and staff quality.
The room is even better, much more complete than we expected, including micowave, hotplates, utensils!
We loved the private sauna and sitting on the balcony overlooking the lake after.
The breakfast also exceeded expectations - after reading an earlier review - better than most other places and lesser than only a few!
Unless you are totally city orientated you will surely appreciate Kerimaa as much as we do.

You need a car to stay here. Fortunately, the Kerimaa people were immensely obliging in driving us around and to the bus stop. We loved our three nights here. We had an apartment with its own sauna, which was really exotic for a couple of Australians. It was an attractive apartment with views on three sides to forests and the golf course. We cooked our dinner there and also ate fresh Finnish food in the Kerimaa restaurant another night. It was a pleasant walk through the woods and past cottages to the restaurant for breakfast each morning.
Kerimaa is set on two lakes - one has a little beach with recliners, chairs and tables, swings, children's playthings and cubby house. The beach also has an old sauna floating on a little jetty! We enjoyed our swims on hot summer's days, then sat in the sauna to warm up again. We also hired a canoe for €15 a day.
It is about 20 - 30 minutes to lovely Savonlinna- we went to the OperaFestival one night. I booked both Kerimaa and the opera tickets many months in advance.
It is about 10 - 15 minutes driving to Kerimaki's famous wooden church, which is a must to visit. It is beautiful inside- lovely painted columns and it is full of light.
Kerimaa is about 25 - 30 minutes drive to scenic Punkaharju and the extraordinary underground Retretti summer art gallery. Cave art for the C21!
We felt very relaxed breathing clean Finnish air and admiring the forests while enjoying creature comforts at Kerimaa.

The standalone cottage with everything you need for a comfort life including an operating fireplace with prepared firewood. There are also grill with charcoal. The tiny bedrooms and fine sitting room with TV. There is a small beach with the small place for children including hill to slither down into the water. And, there is a Keri Golf Club! If you are not experienced in golf, you could try the mini variant :)
Unfortunately, there was a cold weather, so we haven't enjoyed the full facilities :(. But it is definitely not the fault of host
Unfortunately, there is no Wi-Fi in remote cottages, so you may need to go to the reception for Internet, The grill is a bit old, so need to care about it. We couldn't find the place to get an additional firewood, so probably you will need to buy by yourselves if the provided amount is not enough. The shower is not isolated somehow from the toilet, so you have to care about your dry towels. And sink is a bit small and too close to the sauna entrance
But actually and definitely it is just a minor issues, so just book and enjoy

I stayed at this place with my girlfriend for one night and we were disappointed with everything except the location and the room itself.
The location: It's absolutely beautiful there. From our room, we had an amazing view on the lake and the forest. We did some walking around and it's very idyllic.
The room: The room itself was nice, cozy and clean. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom disappointed a bit. The shower is basically in the middle of the room and only separated by a small wall. We both flooded the bathroom while showering. The toilet seemed very old and not very clean. After flushing, the water wouldn't stop running for about 20 minutes.
The staff and food: I believe we may have been the only guests during that time. We sure felt like more of a nuisance than welcomed guests. The staff weren't necessarily rude, they just didn't seem to care. When checking in, we had to ask a few times about dinner options, only to be told that all restaurants close at 5 (there seemed to have been two).
Breakfast was a joke. Most of the trays meant for hot food were empty and there was only some bread and cereal. We ended up having a glass of juice and then leaving. We were greeted with the same "I don't care" attitude when checking out, so we paid and left. We will not be back.
In the evening, we got cold (the heat wasn't even on in our room) and since there was nobody at the reception we called the number included in the room information. A man who spoke almost no English answered the phone and since communication was pretty much impossible, he said he would be over in 30 minutes. 50 minutes later, he came and brought with him a remote control for the heater. He was the only friendly person we met there.
Why don't you heat the rooms in the middle of September? Why do I have to ask and then wait an hour for the remote to control the heat? Just a few questions popping into my head after my stay.
I'm not sure if things would have been different if we hadn't been the only guests. However, I feel like I can expect heat in my room and hospitality no matter the season. Very disappointing, because the location really is great, everything else however.. not so much.
