Detailed Reviews
What fantastic hosts the owner and his team are.
Nothing was too much trouble and with just 13 rooms the personal service was the best we ever experienced.
When you got in from your trips (organised by the hotel and included in the package) they put the Sauna on for you ready and helped you get out of the winter gear (also provided by the hotel as it was -29C when we were there).
The rooms were lovely and warm with comfortable beds and huge windows to watch the changing colours of the sky and the effect it had on the trees / snow etc.
Food is out of this world, prepared by a top class chef (even lunch was a 3 course meal with wine) and there is even an honesty bar for evening drinks by the log fire.
We did Snow Mobiling, Cross Country Skiing, Snow Shoe Trek and Husky Trip and had the best time ever, we even saw the Northern Lights.
We will certainly be back to visit again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The staff, food, accommodations, and beauty of the forrest all merge to make this a very very special place. It was our privilege to spend three nights in this piece of Finnish heaven. We came from the USA and will come again. They are there to accommodate your every need from clothing, to food, to a wide variety of activities based out of this handsome and well appointed boutique lodge. Three nights were good, next time it will be a week.

Thank you for this review. We had a great time with you and we are looking forward to have you here again. Are you missing your private husky safari? Maybe next time you can also try reindeer safari. Best wishes from Jávri Team!

It was our third visit in Saariselkä- and our first stay in javri lodge.
This familiar Boutique Hotel is supposed to be one of the best places you can find in the arctic region!
Very ambitious the way they are serving local based Food. Absolutely Impressive!
The young and international staff (Greece, french and finnish) is amazing friendly and always helpful.
The architecture of the entire building is welcoming its guests.
The only negatives from our side: the rooms should be better heated or isolated. Especially the windows in the Sky View suites create a uncomfortable coolness. Even worse in the Restaurant.
By the way: if you haven‘t experiened the Hotel Standard in Scandinavia don‘t be disappointed to realize that a Presidential Suite is just rather a nice Junior Suite with a tiny bathroom.
The interior is stylish, but we missed a cosy and warm temperature.
The 2 Saunas are also missing features like relaxing deckchairs, scents etc.
The only fire place - with a fire on - you find in the lounge. That‘s a real nice place.

Thank you for the good ideas. We are planning to have a touch of cozyness to our SkyView Suites for the next season. Jávri Lodge presents modern Scandinavian design style which is characterised by minimalism and simplicity. It was very nice to have you here and maybe next time you can try some new activities. Best wishes from Jávri Team!

My wife, daughter (22) and friend are spending a reclusive, luxurious 3 nights/4 days at Javri. While we came to see the elusive Northern Lights (and didn't) that was our only disappointment. The owner, Jahu, and his staff exceeded expectations. The cuisine was superb and the activities including dog sledding, snow mobiling and snow shoeing in the Arctic night were exhausting but very worthwhile. I highly recommend this off-the-track, once in a lifetime experience.

We came to Javri in March to celebrate a friends 50th. We were on a mission to see the northern lights sadly they didn’t show for us.
The Lodge is beautiful inside and out. They staff and food were amazing,
The Lodge supplies gear for each excursion, which makes packing easier.
Hope to be back soon.

This is a truly unique hotel. It's just like having an amazing home, and family, in the Artic. The place itself is pure beauty, and all team is not only kind and helpful, they treat you like an old friend. Great activities, wonderful food. An experience by itself. Not be missed before you die.

This is truly a fantastic hotel that you will never forget. It's located in a small village in Saariselka, Finland about 30 mins from Ivalo, Airport. Located in a winter wonderland!! Just fabulous!! The hotel is owned by a very warm, friendly, hospitble couple that could not have been nicer. You feel that you are staying in a friends house.
The hotel is spotless with very comfortable rooms. They have excellent Wifi but no TVs which we did not miss for a second. The beds are very comfortable and they have a lovely Sauna and Pool area.
The food was amazing. Dinners are 5-7 courses and you would not find better food in Paris or Berlin. They also were able to accommodate another couple that eats Gluten Free and we are vegetarians.
The "activity team" Tomi and Jana are so friendly, professional and knowledgable. They make things fun but yet always make sure you are safe. These are the types of people you want around you if you are lost in a snow storm. They took us to see the Northern Lights and Snowmobiling. Just great guys. Nothing you ask them is too much.
We loved loved loved the hotel and will definitely be back as soon as we can.

I stayed at this luxury lodge for 2 nights while visiting Lapland...and it was simply amazing! Everything from the staff to the service to the food to the accommodations was PERFECT! This boutique resort is small so everything feels more intimate & attention to detail is beyond expectations. There is nothing the staff won't do to ensure your stay is as memorable as possible! The food was also incredible, all meals prepared using local ingredients & on par with Michelin star restaurants I have visited! I was blown away!! If you want to spoil yourself with an unforgettable experience in Lapland stay at this hidden gem!! Thank you to everyone at Javri Lodge for such an amazing time!

Read up on the history of Javri Lodge as this was the personal residence of Finland's longest standing president, now a boutique lodge operated by kind hosts who are first and foremost restauranteurs. Java is a spotlessly clean, modern, luxury lodge serving dinners worthy of a michelin star. There are roughly 10 rooms at the lodge - meals are served at a common dining table - so you do get to know the other guests, which is always interesting and adds a dimension to the experience. The food is superb - it is heavy on local ingredients, of course, so we had several reindeer preparations and delicious arctic char fish. Local berries and vegetables were common throughout the preparations. Each day you experience beautifully presented and served meals - specifically breakfasts and dinners as you'll usually be out and about during the day on an excursion adventure of some sort. There are nice alcohol options (not included in room charge) from bottles of wine, wine by the glass, and hard liquor. There are two saunas on property in finish tradition!, a cozy indoor heated pool, stunning windows throughout as the cabin is situated next to a large national forest, gorgeous fireplace (with excellent ventilation) and impeccably clean rooms. There are two "suites" if you prefer a room with a sitting area as well. The hosts were kind, helpful and a pleasure to be with! The rate includes one activity per day - my wife and i had experiences of a lifetime as mushers on a dog safari and also a snowmobile adventure that was out of this world...!! We paid a bit extra for a unique snowmobile excursion that took us all the way out to the Russian border, roughly 80 mile round trip. The excursion included a delicious lunch in a tiny cabin built 100 years ago that was 50 yards from the Russian border. On the snowmobile excursion we saw about 40 reindeer in the wild including a half dozen running on the path for about 1/2 a mile as we followed in our snowmobiles....a true once in a lifetime experience. My wife and I look forward to returning, next time bringing our teenage and adult children as this is a mystical experience in the frozen wilderness that is not to be missed! (The evenings were cloudy so we did not see the Northern Lights but so it goes with mother nature! This is an ideal location for viewing them, so yet another reason to return!) Blessed to have found this spot!

After 3 days in Helsinki, my wife and I spent 5 nights in the Javri Lodge and enjoyed the very cosy and calm lodge far north in Finland, being spoiled by our lovely hosts and their team as well as wonderful food & wines and lots of amazing activities. The team at the Lodge has chosen a few local tour operators that differentiate themselves through personalized and authentic tours, be it the huskies or with the snow mobile. The best however was the night when we saw the Norther Lights just above the Lodge - a very special event. The gathering with the other international guests during lunch and dinner is also lots of fun as everyone shares his experiences of the day. We will definitively be back, also to continue our cross country skiing that Juha teached us during our time at Javri.
