We had a Christmas dinner at restaurang Teerenpesä and for all of us food and service was fast and good. I took wild mushroom soup as starter and reindeer filet with oven vegetables and both of them were really good! Food for children, hamburgers were good and salads , fish and beef for rest of adults were tasteful😃 House wine which was recommended was also good. I can recomend this restaurang.

We went here to experience the Midnight Sun. The accommodation is just what I expected. If you are expecting luxury you will be dissatisfied. Its a log cabin in the artic circle. It was very clean, warm. Fridge, TV, decent size bathroom with shared sauna which is allocated in slots so you can use it privately. The area its located in Saariselka is very quiet is the summer so hire a car to explore the areas. Roads are very easy and I felt safe driving in Finland. The rooms were not cleaned during our stay but to be honest that was fine. If you are going to experience the midnight Sun you can go on top of the fell the views are amazing. No need for a private tour. The water park is OK in the holiday club if you fancy a swim. Be warned the food is expensive but I'm sure you'll be aware of this. Breakfast was included which was nice. Ivalo and Saariselka is a fantastic place to explore. If you want to visit a animal park for huskies etc I recommend Wild Spirit Park but mozzy spray.

We stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't love it more. The location is excellent - close to all restaurants. The ski bus takes you from right in front of the cabin. The log cabins are everything you would ask for in Finland - warm and cosy and the excellent sauna. The check-in experience is a bit troublesome - you need to collect the keys from a supermarket next door. The breakfast spread is not too great either and that's why I give 4 stars. Other than these 2 issues, absolutely loved our stay here.

We stayed here after staying at kakslautenen. A great log cabin in the heart of Saariselka town. Confusing check in, we weren’t aware our had to go to the post office down the road to get the key. We would have been waiting a long time if it wasn’t for our taxi driver who called the number on the sign outside. Same as for checkout, we had no idea what we were doing as had to leave at 3am for our flight back to the UK (6am). Facilities were basic in the room but everything we needed. From here, we went snow mobiling, cross county skiing, to lots of bars and pubs all within walking distance. Would highly recomend staying here after kakslautenen.

Yes, the check in is a little annoying, but there's not much in the little town, so it's easy to find the post office and then your room. At least you feel like in a real remote place. Our room wasn't clean, but they gave us immediately an other (better) one. Room is big and comfortable. You can use the common sauna but just in a specific hour (it dipends on your room). I enjoyed my stay.

The place was clean and very cozy. The interior is also made from wood, so it gives very warm atmosphere. But the reception was separated, it is at a supermarket nearby which is very weird. It can be confusing at first.

We stayed in the log cabin for 1 night. Checking in at a totally different location is annoying, but would have been fine if the person checking us in had been friendly and given us some information but they didn't. We checked in at the restaurant because it was the weekend and the girl just wanted to hand over the keys and get rid of us. Post office check out was similar with no question of how the stay was. The room had really hard uncomfortable beds and the bathroom smelled of sewerage. You can hear everything through the walls. When I was telling my friend about how hard the beds were, we heard our neighbours in the next room laugh and agree. There is a lot of accommodation in Saariselka so I would recommend staying elsewhere.

We stayed at Kuukkeil Apartments (no 25) for 4 nights 12-16th Feb 2017. We could not fault the accommodation, brilliant facilitates, great kitchen, sauna, clothes drying cabinet, log burner and very warm inside. The Kuukkeli apartment is well situated in Saariselka very close to the well stocked supermarket which is only a 2 min walk away, as is the bus stop. No problem in walking to the Toboggan run and Ski school with a nine year old child. We met the owner/manager by chance and he was very friending and sorted 3 toboggans out for us. Thanks so much, we will be coming back! traveller tips. Key pick up is in the Kuukkeli cafe within the Supermarket complex.

This lodge is part of a larger accommodation area, and is a few minutes’ walk from check-in (you check in at a post office before 3pm, and then the supermarket until 5pm, but this is all explained in your booking confirmation). Our taxi driver knew exactly where to go (she took us to the post office first, and then to our room). The lodge smelt a little funky when we first entered, which smelt like a mix of cigarette smoke and something else, but then we accustomed to it and it was fine. Each room gets a dedicated half hour sauna time per day, but we never got around to trying it out. The rooms are decently sized, but the shower overflows onto the bathroom floor which wasn’t great (even though there are barriers to stop the water getting everywhere, the bottom isn’t sealed, so it seeps through). They also only provide softwash as soap/bodywash/shampoo, so bring your own. The room has an adjoining door to the room next door, which means soundproofing is quite bad and you can hear your neighbours pretty well. The beds are topped with memory foam, which felt quite stiff, and the pillows are really flat. But the blankets are warm! And so is the room heating. There’s also a communal microwave at the entrance, and a kettle in-room. We had some difficulty with our room key though, it always took us a while to get our room door unlocked. There’s also free wi-fi without a password which was pretty decent. Negative is the lack of reception – we checked out on a weekend so we had to check out at the supermarket restaurant. They did agree to keep our suitcases for us, under their bench and behind the register.

We stayed for one night in Kuukkeli Apartments. We went to the "reception" which was in the back of grocery store. There was one couple before us but they left because they didn't get any service from guy that sat in glass box 2 meters away. Then was our turn..first we didn't get any service. Gut just sat in his glass box ignoring us. I rang the bell and still he was ignoring us. Then I had to shout "is there any available rooms?". After that he stood up and did something. :) In their add they say that you'll get Plussa points when paying. Well...we didn't get even those. Not big thing but you should not put that in add if you will not give those ;) We took room for 2. Well, room was cheap and so it looked. But it was ok for us 'cause we just needed a place to sleep.

Response from Kuukkeli S, Front Office Manager at Lodge Kuukkeli Teerenpesä
Responded 23 Aug 2016
This guest had some difficult experience just because of misunderstanding and it needs some clearance: - First, the guest had posted a photo of outside a post office. Like many other places around Finland, Post office is closed after 5pm on working days and totally closed on Weekends, and there is a post office working times outside the door of post office. There are people moving to and from shopping centre and it is quite normal that staffs are not looking outside the glass of closed post office if there is someone waiting for service outside the closed post-office or not. If there are no further check-in for the day, our staffs are doing their other jobs. If there is a need, and guests ask from a service desk, our staffs are there to help the customer as much as possible. - Second, even though it is not clear from the photo, but from photos this guest posted, it seemed like this guest had stayed in totally different accommodation and not in Lodge Kuukkeli Teerenpesä. In any case, we are not a hotel but apartments and definitely our rooms and suitable for people who appreciate the Lapland style interior and have a possibility to experience it. - Third, about the Plussa points, which does not maybe interests our guests from outside Finland. We used to have the Plussa points before for many year. But after our shopping centre joined the K-Market, we cannot give Plussa points to guests who are staying in our accommodation. Our old ads still have that information and changes will come gradually when old ads will be updated in time. Guests can still use their K-plussa card while shopping from the shopping centre but it is a different entity than our accommodations. We are sorry for this misunderstanding and experience would have been clarified on-spot if the guest mentioned these issues during check-in or check-out.
