The idyllic location outside Saariselka is ideal for seeing the Northern Lights, as there is no light pollution here. The entire hotel complex with the paths, the main building with restaurant and the igloos is perfectly maintained and very tastefully designed. We really enjoyed our stay in our luxurious igloo and were sad when we had to move on. Nina and Pasi are lovely hosts who gave us a warm welcome along with their team. The food in the restaurant with an open fireplace was also absolutely delicious. We also booked a reindeer sleigh ride through the hotel, which was well organized and we really enjoyed it. We definitely want to come back and would highly recommend this great hotel.

Romantic. Elegant. Secluded. These words best describe this resort located 30min south of Ivalo.

My wife and I spent 10 days chasing northern lights across Finland in late December 2024 - January 2025. By far, this was the most luxurious and romantic lodge we stayed in. The husband and wife team that run the 16 cabin resort have done an incredible job decorating and designing these glass igloo cabins. The resort is really dedicated to enjoying the northern lights from outside and inside the cabins. They are very conscientious of light pollution and keep it to a minimum. The owners get to know everyone upon arrival and never have to ask which room you are in or dietary requirements - they just know.

The restaurant is a small 15 table, incredibly decorated affair serving select quality dishes.

Not intended for young children.

Can arrange reindeer, husky and snowmobile tours but their main focus is chasing the lights. They are very flexible about changing the nights you go out based on probability of seeing lights. However, we saw them while laying in bed every night.

A truly wonderful and magical experience, made all the better by the incredibly kind and attentive owners.

The igloos are incredible and Aurora views excellent. They are warm, clean and have excellent facilities (tea, coffee, underfloor heating etc). The wifi is great too in both the Igloo and main building.

We stayed four nights and our whole trip was flawless.

Breakfast is included and consists of an excellent choice of sweet/savoury choices, including cooked eggs. We ate at the restaurant twice for dinner and on both occasions the food was fantastic and service excellent. All of the staff were highly attentive.

We also used the gym (which includes cable machine, bike and runner) which was a great way to keep fit.

We booked two activities through the hotel (Snowmobile and Huskey sled). For both the guides were highly knowledgeable, caring and helpful. For both, warm clothing is provided but it is always worth layering up, particularly for the -30oC weather we experienced.

We would recommend hiring a car to allow you to go offsite for other food & activities. Whilst the snowy roads may appear alien to some, all hire cars are provided with snow tyres which make driving so easy and safe.

A special thanks go to all the staff & owners for making our trip so memorable

Nina and Pasi who own the resort are both outstanding hosts. The glass igloos are wonderfully comfortable and warm. The bathroom fittings and products are all high quality. The towels are thick and big. There was a bottle of bubbly on ice, two glasses and chocolates when we entered our room. The food in the restaurant was very sophisticated with lots of fresh, healthy local ingredients wonderfully presented. The fish of the day was delicious and so was the reindeer steak. Lunch sandwiches were special too. As we were there on Valentine's morning we were offered a complimentary glass of prosecco at breakfast along with some local chocolate treats. All these extras made our stay very special.
The trips Nina booked for us were all amazing. We went on a reindeer sleigh ride out into the forest the first night and saw the northern lights. The next day we drove a snowmobile. The following day we went dog sledding. Warm protective clothing was provided - suits, gloves, balaclavas, boots, helmets as appropriate. Good instruction was given before starting each activity. The dogs were super friendly and very excited to run fast. The second night we stayed there were amazing views of the aurora from our igloo! We booked transfers both ways from Ivalo airport through Nina which were perfect. We would both highly recommend this resort.

Lot of missing details for the price of the room.
No concierge service, no room service, no TV " as the northern lights are not seen everyday during their periods", no phone and no bottle of waters in the room...
The menu suggested is very restricted.
A thing that I really didn't appreciate during the dinner; the water is paying when it comes from a natural source for free.
Basically, you pay only for the view.
The design of the resort is amazing, from reception to the Igloos.
The owners manage their own business, welcoming and customers-oriented.
In my opinion, it is very expensive for what you get.
What should be reviewed :
* Complimentary shuttle bus from airport to hotel, complimentary minibar, a phone and TV in each room.
* A 24/7 room service as the hotel is far from any commodities, the restaurant menu must be diversified.
* Concierge Service

The resort is a very nice place, really a pity that it doesn't have all the necessities of the resorts of the same standards, hope that will change.

AQ can best be described as "Heaven on Earth under Coloured Skies".

Firstly, because you are personally welcomed ever so warmly by the hosts Nina and Pasi when you arrive. A beverage is immediately offered as they arrange for your igloo. Nina, the ever so gracious hostess gives you an overview of the resort and offers you a menu of activities in the area. They can book anything, reindeer, husky rides, snowmobile escapades, Aurora hunting, transportation etc.

Secondly, the reception has an arty and tasteful collection of items on display that looks almost like you are in a classy and fashionable museum. But everything is up for sale at reasonable prices. And this is located in front of the recption/bar and restaurant.

Thirdly, the local cuisine served at the restaurant includes salmon, trout, steaks, venison and reindeer. The plates are generous and artistically presented, making it visually appetising before it hits your palate. Speaking, of which, whilst they are not cheap, they are value for money in such a classy restaurant. We noted that many people came to AQ just for the meal and drinks.

Most importantly, our two nights stay in a very well appointed and romantic igloo, went beyond our expectations. It was one thing to see videos, and another to experiance the real comforts, warmth and clear views of the Aurora from your bed in the igloo. It truly was a luxurious experiance not to be forgotten.

Thank you Nina and Pasi for the very personalised care and super service delivered during our stay, and the special breakfast packed for our super early departure.

We highly recommend a stay at Aurora Queen Resort!

After 6 days in Finland, I can say with conviction that this was the best part of our trip! The igloos are beautifully done with unparalleled views and the coziest ambiance.
We were greeted by Nina as soon as we arrived. She’s like sunshine in a person, always wearing a smile at any time of the day and always around to help out for the smallest of things! Both Nina and Pasi seem to be around from breakfast to dinner and beyond!

Aurora Queen is clearly their passion, their baby and they ensure that every traveler has the best experience.

The food is 10/10, even though we’re vegetarians and the options are pretty limited, the chef was kind enough to whip up a dish or two off the menu for us.
The waitresses are extremely warm and welcoming and always help out with suggestions and tips.
The only thing I missed here was a sauna.
The guided tours are a must, we chased the northern lights and were lucky enough to actually see them!
If I were to come back to Finland, I’d definitely without a doubt find myself staying at the Aurora Queen resort.

Amazing room, amazing staff . Had a great time here. Many activities to book and enjoy. The room was extremely clean. The best thing is the attention the staff gives you. The gentleman who owns the location and takes you Aurora hunting goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Magical

Our stay was amazing, Nina and Pasi the owners were great hosts who made us feel at their home, so welcoming and adorable. They took our stay to a next level with their kindness, dedication and loving what they do and offer to their guests .

The igloos are well equipped with everything you need to have a relaxing stay and to enjoy the breathtaking views, while surrounded by a luxurious and spacious igloo with your own private bathroom (compared to other igloos offering a shared toilets and small igloos)

On our last night, we had the chance to see the northern lights from our own igloo, in the warm, romantic atmosphere. It was very clear without even going outside! (By the way, the glass of the igloo is prepared with a heating system, the snow will melt away and you will have a great view at all times)

Overall, this was one of the best winter resorts and experiences we have ever had!
