Stayed here for 2 nights in mid July. We had one of the cabins with a sauna which was really worth the extra. The cabin was spacious and comfortable- beds especially so. Very clean and the kitchen was good enough to rustle up some thing basic for dinner. Nice touches like bath robes, drying cabinet and an outside, lockable storage area for bikes etc. we had a small issue with the curtains not being long enough for the window (about 3 ft too short) so being light all the time we didn’t sleep well night 1. Unfortunately reception had left when we realised. Mentioned it the next morning and house keeping had it resolved in minutes. Couldn’t fault the service. Saw loads of reindeer from our balcony and the location was perfect for walks to the national park and down to santas village. Only thing that’s a bit lacking is that it’s still being finished so parts of it look like a building site. Lovely staff though and a lovely stay. We will absolutely be back for the winter and the Aurora Borealis.

We had a pleasant stay at Star Arctic hotel! The biggest plus for us was that the room had two floors. We were able to put the kids to bed upstairs (one in a baby cot and one sleeping in the bed between us parents) and continue our evening enjoying the view on the terrace. Since the hotel is located on the top of the hill there were almost no bugs at all (yes!). The grocery store is a few minutes away so snacks and drinks were easy to get. Also got bathrobes from the reception. Perfect little relaxation for us parents. Unfortunately the room (or upstairs really) got pretty hot because of the large windows. Also the curtains didn't cover the windows all the way to the top and the upstairs was really light during the night. These were the only downfalls but pretty big ones for a family with small kids. The beds were comfy though. But there were several other plus sides! Location and service were good! We also enjoyed our breakfast and the room was clean. The hotel seemed pretty empty at the time, loved the peace and quiet. The older kid loved the stairs (though they were very steep so look after your kids!) and the reindeers outside the terrace. Would definitely come again (..but maybe not when it's 30 degrees outside).

I cannot rate the location of this hotel highly enough.....you really don't want to be anywhere else in the area except here. The views are spectacular and this is the place people come to in order to get a birds-eye view of the northern lights. Hotel staff are all super friendly and very helpful. We did most of the activities and enjoyed the snowmobiles at night, the husky ride and the ice swimming is a must with the most delicious food in the restaurant afterwards (gourmet level food at Laanilan Bievari). Most days we would grab a tobogan from outside the hotel and ride down into the town (hot chocolate at Santas Hotel always) and grab the ski lift back up. I can imagine it gets verey busy before xmas but it was quiet in January, ideal for enjoying this amazing place to its full.

We returned to the Star Arctic after staying here before. It can be a bit of a risk re visiting a place, hoping it is as good as you remember. It was, in fact the best stay we have had here. Anna on reception was welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. The food in the restaurant was lovely (as were the cocktails!) and the waitress was happy to make some good recommendations on food and beer choices. The sous chef (sorry I did not get his name - he was new) was brilliant and able to advise on vegetarian options. He was also serving breakfast and was always welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was also fresh and offered a good choice. The atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed and friendly, although quieter than normal but that was nice. The sauna suit room had stunning views and on 2 nights we were so lucky to see the aurora from the front overlooking Saariselka and also over the fell. The bed was comfy, more pillows and covers if we needed them were in the room. The room was clean and all amenities were in the room if you needed them. The heated wardrobe for coats and trousers was a bonus. We had a husky morning with our guide 'Life' which was great fun. One of the best snow mobile experiences I have had was the aurora hunting.... no aurora but that was fine, but we drove for miles for 3 hours in woods and over the fell with Tommy (?) he was fantastic and gave me memories for remember for ever. The hospitality from everyone was super a truly great place to stay and value for money. Definitely stay here. THANK YOU STAR ARCTIC.

We booked a 5 day Passion for Lapland experience and were delighted! We stayed in the viewing cabins with saunas. It was warm, clean, and comfy. We had the full board experience and were thrilled with the exceptional food entrees and wine selections. Our outside adventures included husky dog sledding, reindeer sleigh rides, forest snowmobiling, and viewing the auroras just steps away from our cabin. The northern lights did not disappoint. I even viewed some from my bed at 4 a.m one morning. The area views of snow covered trees, along with parfait pink and blue January skies will always be at the top of my list for a great vacation.

We stayed on this hotel as part of a package tour. This review is only for the hotel itself but our expectations were set by the price we paid for the Santa's Lapland package holiday. Overall, at the price we paid, the hotel should have been 5 star or at least a solid 4 stars (depending on how much the excursions and flights in our package actually cost). But the hotel was neither - it is a middle of the road 3 stars. Specific issues that we had: A) The bedding in the room was inadequate for our family of 2 adults and 2 children (2 single beds and a sofa bed that folded out to make a large single not suitable for 2 people, it was also had a rather uncomfortable mattress) B) My wife and I are both vegetarians, and the vegetarian food was mediocre - essentially, identical to the non-vegetarian food just "eat more of the vegetable side dishes and don't eat the mains", which were meat based; all food was from a buffet C) The handle to the door on our balcony was broken, and one of us got trapped outside. Fortunately, with the help of a hotel staff member, we were able to break the handle off and the person could get back inside. But this poor maintenance did not inspire confidence. After the door was fixed we also found we could not open the door to use the balcony. The staff themselves were all very helpful and these issues aside our stay itself was very pleasant. As other reviewers will have noted the activities and environment themselves are phenomenal. But when the hotel itself is measured in the cold light of day against its price it is just not up to the mark. We hope to come back to Finland but don't expect to stay at this hotel again.

We were staying at Star Arctic Hotel Saariselkä 29.12. - 30.12. The room was okey, but not with a view that you could expect. Room conveniences were okey but the room could have been a bit more tidy. Restaurant offered take away meals beacuse of the covid restrictions and as you may guess the food was not so good. So after a good sleep in a great bed we were expecting a bit more from the breakfast. Unfortunately the breakfast was not on a level that it should have been. All vegetables were almost out of stock and all hot foods were not hot anymore. We went for breakfast at 10 am and it closes at 11 am. Overall a nice experience but much could also be improved considering the price level of the hotel.

Absolutely brilliant time. Snowmobile, husky and reindeer rides absolutely great. Expensive but well worth the money. Hotel is in a great position so you can see for miles if weather is goog enough. Our weather was very snowy but that is what we wanted. Kids and adults had a great time playing in it. Would definitely recommend it and will love to go again.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay with a stunning view on the top of Kaunispää. Nice, clean room with balcony and friendly staff. Great place for outdoor activities and the village nearby is not too far away by walking. We fell in love with this place! Definately we will be coming back.

We stayed here two nights, in different rooms. First night was at the glass igloo/hut which was nice and modern but we only had a view of the sky (and a parking lot behind the fence) so in October it was a bit of a disappointment although we did see a little bit of northern lights. However, we kind of expected a better view and a little bit more space. The next night we paid a little extra and got one of those two-story rooms which was better view-wise and much larger, also. The restaurant was nice, a bit overpriced for the quality. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment as it was quite low quality food. Service was good, staff was nice.
