It is very difficult to book within the Namib-Naukluft National Park as you're forced to book in a NWR accommodation: either the Sossus Dune Lodge or in the Camp site. Those two places are fully booked months in advance and it's a nightmare if you try to book directly. Although I contacted NWR almost 6 months in advance, both places...

Just opposite the parking lot of beautiful Sesriem Canyon (well worth the descent into it and a walk along the canyon bottom) lies the entrance to the lodge grounds. After a short drive you'll arrive at the parking lot at the foot of a rocky hill, that hides the parking from the rooms. A shuttle will drive you uphill to...

Set inside the park you have no restriction on gate opening/closing times. It is set in glorious isolation with just the oryx etc to wander by. Staff find out if you are going early for the dunes and sort out breakfast for you accordingly. They do guided tours but we had our own guide/driver so just set off very early...

We stayed in Dune Lodge for 2nights and really loved it.the lodge is built on its own so is peaceful and set in lovely surroundings.the rooms are large well equipped and very clean. We got up at 4 am to be able to get to Big daddy dune and walk up so far before sunrise which was well worth the...

The great advantage of Sossus Dune Lodge is that it is located inside the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This allows full access to the important dune areas (as Sossusvlei, Dune 45 and Elim Dune) at dawn and dusk without worrying about the park gates which are locked from dusk to dawn. You can drive yourself or take a tour with guide...

This place is in the most amazing location! The food was good, beds VERY comfortable, and the staff friendly. Couldn't ask for more! The trip to the dunes for sunrise is a must do. The trip from the parking to the lodge is my only complaint and its not a serious one, its just the staff wasn't very on the...

These hotel rooms are round tents but they're very quiet and very comfortable. And the view from the front deck is truly impressive - a lovely place to watch the sunset. It is a small hike on the elevated boardwalk to the main buildings and swimming pool but then that is the price you pay for privacy and quiet. The...

We stayed one night here, and were pleased to be able to use the fact that the lodge is inside the park to get to Sossusvlei itself before sunrise for some amazing sights. The rooms are partly canvas and very spacious, with their own private deck. The pool is good and warmer than others (though still quite chilly). A limited...

This was probably the best run of the Namibia Wilderness Resort (NWR) properties we experienced during our trip. We were booked us into the honeymoon suite, which was quite lovely, but, as honeymooners want their privacy, it is the last tent, so it is a long walk from the main buildings, about half a km. As with many of the...

The chalets are over 600 sq feet with a huge veranda out front where you can watch the balloons take off in the early morning over Sossusvlei. Loved the open concept shower area where the water trickled down between the floor boards while you looked out the window onto the desert. A French press in each room for all those...
