My girlfriend and I stayed at Herrestad Gästis just for one night in May 2014 whilst en route from Germany to our final holiday destination in Dalarna. The hotel comprises a charming main house in which hosts the restaurant, and a smaller house in which the dorm rooms are. This building is particularly charming as it was used as a...

Stayed 2 nights. Price a little high for what we got. Room very simple but correct. Bathroom was old and under equiped. The lady guestkeeper is very charming. Good to have a car because the town of Ystad is 5 km away. Altough the road was close, we haven't been disturbed by the noise. Nice garden.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner, offered coffee in the courtyard garden and then had a nice chat about the property and the area. The room was facing the road but was not noisy and it was plain but comfortable, situated in an annexe adjacent to the main house/reception. Breakfast was fresh and the same type of fare...

Visited this small hotel a bit out of season, in the beginning of May. Only one other guest but us there that weekend. But the staff was one of the friendliest I've met. Fantastic five course meal in their restaurant. All local foods which they gladly told us all about. Even pointed out where the farms were and sounded like...

Came in late and did not try their restaurant. The room was basic but clean. It is very quiet so we slept really well in the comfortable beds. There is almost no noise from the road since there is not much traffic during the night. The surroundings, with a church and castle from the 11th century, made for a nice...

I spent 2 weeks in March/April 2013 in this delightful guest house. When I arrived the snow was deep in the garden but there could not have been a warmer welcome. The room I was in was warm, homely, comfortable and well maintained. Given the time of year the guest house was not busy during the week in fact some...

I stayed here the night before a Wedding (see my other review of Ystad Saltsjobad) as I would be in the area a day early, and will be reviewing the room only as I sadly didn't eat the restaurant (I wish I had seeing the other reviews). The Gastis is located a bit outside of Ystad so a car is...

We enjoyed a lovely evening meal here, probably the best we had in the week we were travelling. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented in an atractive way. The breakfast was also excellent. The only slight negative was the music which played the same song over and over again all evening (nice song though!) and the Italian who decided to...

This is a wonderful b&b set in a charming setting just outside Ystad. The room we stayed in was fairly small and basic but the iPod docking station was a nice touch. The bathroom was basic but clean and the shower worked well. However, it's not the accomodation that won my heart but the food. We ate in the restaurant...

Just returned from another visit to Sweden with a five night stay at Herrestad Gastis. After our impromtu stay last year this time we booked ahead. We were not disappointed, nothing was too much and the food was excellent. Looks like they have been very busy over the winter with a make over to several of the rooms. Highly recommended.

“I suppose further away from the main road would be better, but I doubt it matters that much to be honest. I expect most rooms look pretty much the same.”
