Stayed for 7 nights with our best mates. The journey was the start of this adventure, with a small plane and your own personal pilot. Transfer to the hotel was by a very old and weathered vehicle that has seen some action. The hotel is in a fantastic location on the beach in its own bay. Rich and Michelle who...

Location - On Likoma island which is on Lake Malawi, part of Malawi but closer to Mozambique. We flew there as most visitors do and the flight itself in a 6 seater plane with stunning views was great. The Proflight pilots were brilliant. Water clear and safe. No mosquitos seen or heard. Lake flies don't bite and tiny but just...

We are terribly sorry that we cannot write a detailed review of this place because it was close to a year ago since our stay. This review is long overdue as this was one of the most memorable places I have ever stayed. Do NOT hesitate to stay here. Michelle, Richard and their staff were some of the best hosts...

Kaya Mawa was simply outstanding from the moment we got off the Illala ferry and were greeted by a friendly staff member who waded into lake Malawi to retrieve us and our belongings. We were greeted with outstanding coffee that was beautifully presented and warm smiles. Every meal was exceptional and unique. The staff were friendly and would go out...

From beginning to end this was a really special place to be. The team couldn't do enough for us from sunrise to beautiful sunset. The food was excellent and the service was great and never intrusive. Our room was exquisite. Everything well laid out and the servicing always happened when we weren't there. Laundry service was incredibly efficient. Lots of...

We spent a magnificent five nights at Kaya Mawa which was a fitting end to a great holiday. Before leaving Zambia, I was worried that it would be difficult to match the Safari we had just enjoyed in the South Luangwa national park, but Kaya Mawa, as a beach resort, was its equal. From the friendliness of the staff, the...

You can fly or get the old MS Ilala ferry from Monkey Bay every Friday if you are feeling adventurous. Kaya Mawa is on Likoma Island which is very special, very remote and very African - a real travellers delight. The lodge is very comfortable, rooms right on the lakeshore, some built into the rocks. Good for families, romantics or...

Michelle and Richard enhance what is already a magical place. The food is superb. We were already talking about breakfast at dinner. No shoes, kayaks before breakfast, a different lakeside dinner table each evening and hot coffee brought to our beach hut every morning. Ideal for families or honeymooners who want to really get away from it all. A special...

Great destination on Malawis biggest island. Great views on Lake Malawi. Great accomodation although quite pricey. One has to prebook to access the place its typically private. The best way to get to the island is through private jets from Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe. Boat ferries from Nkhatabay are available but not reliable. Kaya Mawa offers great cusines and...

We have just had 3 nights with Michelle and Rich at Kaya Mawa and could not speak more highly of the place. We had a wonderful cottage perched on rocks away from everyone which was marvellous. Nothing was too much trouble and we were lucky as the resort was quiet so we almost had the place to ourselves. Thank you...
