Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at they Champs with a small group of people who gathered to participate in Just The Wild. This small hotel perched above town, is a jewel. Wonderful views, especially at sunset. We enjoyed large clean comfortable rooms with balconies, a small but crystal pool (perfect for cooling off after a long boating day), and lovely meals: custom full breakfasts (included) and many delicious suppers (at a reasonable cost) The staff is so friendly, and we soon felt like good friends. I would definitely recommend the Champs to my friends and family.

We spent in hotel 3 nights. Amazing views of sea, Cabrits national park peninsula and town from room balcony and also from restaurant terrace. Room was clean and newly upgraded. Staff was great. What was really good, that they provided jug of fresh drinking water to room each day, so we didn"t have to buy it.
Walking distance to town with many restaurants, but we ate every night in their restaurant, as they have AMAZING chef. Note, there is longer wait for meals, but at least you know everything is freshly cooked, not taken from freezer and reheated.
We had breakfast included, which was also very tasty, just wish there was more fruits.
Close to many sightseeing sites and beaches.
Would definitely stay again.

We used to live in Dominica before the devastating hurricane Maria in 2017, and returned for the first time since then to stay at the amazing Champs hotel. It is up the hill with awesome views of Portsmouth, Cabritts and Fort Shirley, making it the perfect place for enjoying the unspoiled nature of Dominica. The staff of Sabrina, Tarnita and Tamara are excellent, the breakfast is amazing and the pool is divine. You cannot beat the sunset views while taking a refreshing dip in the pool- Highly recommended hotel ran by amazing owners Hans and Lise!

I travelled with my family and from the very first interaction with the owner (Lise) I received marvellous service. The arrangements on arrival were detailed and concise, we were getting to Dominica quite late in the evening and Lise kept the restaurant open for us (including some delicious rum punch on arrival).

Her team were also fantastic, very customer focussed and very patient with our two babies.

The rooms were clean and of a good standard with stunning views over the Caribbean Sea, I would recommend hiring a vehicle but it was a short walk to the shops (hilly on the way back)

The Champs is a great hotel or rather B&B in a beautiful location near Portsmouth with an amazing seaview and fabulous sunsets. The owners Lise and Hans and very friendly and happy to help with recommendations and reservations. Breakfast is good but not great - same menu every day, The only negative is that the location in the North is not ideal for visiting the southern part of the island so if you plan to stay for more than an couple of days I would recommend to divide the stay between the Champs and a hotel in the South.

Good day MrPinefire, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay with us. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the island, getting a variety of stock can prove to be difficult sometimes, but we will certainly take note that variation may be required sometimes. We hope to see you again in the future. Kind regards,

We loved our stay at The Champs. Lise, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating from the start with our reservation. There are only 7 rooms - every one of them has a wonderful view of Portsmouth and the ocean. We were in one of the newer rooms. It was spacious and well laid out. Breakfast is included and you can choose from different styles of eggs, waffles, pancakes. The breakfasts were so large that we never needed to eat lunch. The hotel also offers dinners, which we really enjoyed. Options included pumpkin soup, pizza, tuna. What puts this hotel over the top are the incredible employees: Sabrina, Tarita, and Tammy. They are all long time employees and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay in The champs.
My suitcase was missing when we arrived in Dominica (not coming over from Guadeloupe).
Lise was helping us really well with this issue.
We got a lot of advice and information about Dominica.
Taxi service was working really well, we just asked Lise (or we called her with the mobile we got during our stay from the hotel).
Restaurant and the staff friendly and food and drinks breakfast and dinner more then OK.
The rooms are ok. Clean and spacious enough. The only point of improvement would be modernizing the rooms. Little outdated now.
Keep the good work going!
Lots of respect for your efforts in/around the hotel and for Dominica in general.
We would come back when visiting Dominica again, for sure.
Nick and Suzan.

Thanks Nick and Suzan, It was a pleasure hosting the 2 of you. We will do our best to keep our service level high and as for the rooms I might send you a personal message to understand better in which way you think we could improve (a good advise is always welcome) as "modern" is very personal. Thanks again.

We stayed at the Champs with our family for two nights and had a great time! The views are the best, as the hotel is on a hill. You can see all over Portsmouth from here. There is a pool with a sun tanning deck which is a nice place to hang out.

We were really impressed with the restaurant as they were able to whip up gluten-free vegan food upon request. The food was delicious and quite varied.

Parents of young kids will need to keep a close eye on their offspring because the railings are built with big gaps on them and there are a few tall flights of stairs near the rooms.

We stayed at The Champs for five nights in March 2022. The staff are incredible and will completely take care of everything you could possibly need. The breakfast that comes with your stay is amazing with fresh juice and fresh baked bread. So good. We also ate dinner there every night and everything from the pizza to the pasta were very good. The rooms had incredible views with a nice spot to sit outside right outside your door to enjoy the view. Highly recommend The Champs!

Just lucked into booking this hotel after our dive plans changed at the last minute. Ended up finding it through a link on the Cabrits Dive Center (BTW a fantastic dive operation ... can't recommend enough) in Picard. The Champs is a five room hotel run by a great couple originally from the Netherlands. Lise and Hans were a wealth of information and advice about touring Dominica. They did everything to make our visit perfect from arranging transportation, to advice on hikes, to getting our outbound Covid-19 testing done. They were always available and provided a unique insight on the island that you just don't get at a larger hotel. The dining was wonderful. We ended up eating breakfast and dinner there everyday. The staff, notably Sabrina and Tamarra, were incredible hosts as was their cooking. I can't recommend Tamarra's cheesecake enough! Suprisingly, the pizza was amazing as well. I certainly didn't expect that in Dominica. Eating at the hotel was so simple and convenient and we were never disappointed by the quality and choices.
If your travels take you to Dominica, I can't recommend the Champs Hotel enough. Do yourself a favor and stay for a least a few nights. The hosts and staff will make your visit memorable.

I think the only way you'll get an answer is by contacting the owners. No problem they're super laid back and won't mind answering your question. The rooms are quite large though.
