I stayed at this hotel for 8 days. I consider this hotel to be one of the best on the island. The employees are very friendly with a special thanks to Lies and Tamara who are exceptional people. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel is situated on a hill with beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. Breakfasts are very tasty and enjoyed on a terrace with a phenomenal view. I recommend this hotel to all travelers to Dominica!
We stayed at the Champs with our family for two nights and had a great time! The views are the best, as the hotel is on a hill. You can see all over Portsmouth from here. There is a pool with a sun tanning deck which is a nice place to hang out. We were really impressed with the restaurant as they were able to whip up gluten-free vegan food upon request. The food was delicious and quite varied. Parents of young kids will need to keep a close eye on their offspring because the railings are built with big gaps on them and there are a few tall flights of stairs near the rooms.
Just lucked into booking this hotel after our dive plans changed at the last minute. Ended up finding it through a link on the Cabrits Dive Center (BTW a fantastic dive operation ... can't recommend enough) in Picard. The Champs is a five room hotel run by a great couple originally from the Netherlands. Lise and Hans were a wealth of information and advice about touring Dominica. They did everything to make our visit perfect from arranging transportation, to advice on hikes, to getting our outbound Covid-19 testing done. They were always available and provided a unique insight on the island that you just don't get at a larger hotel. The dining was wonderful. We ended up eating breakfast and dinner there everyday. The staff, notably Sabrina and Tamarra, were incredible hosts as was their cooking. I can't recommend Tamarra's cheesecake enough! Suprisingly, the pizza was amazing as well. I certainly didn't expect that in Dominica. Eating at the hotel was so simple and convenient and we were never disappointed by the quality and choices. If your travels take you to Dominica, I can't recommend the Champs Hotel enough. Do yourself a favor and stay for a least a few nights. The hosts and staff will make your visit memorable.…
I only stayed two nights here but had the best experience. Everyone was extremely welcoming upon my arrival Sabrina even went as far as to get me hooked up with a last minute tour down Indian River the same afternoon I checked in. Which was amazing and I would highly recommend. The view is spectacular on a mountain overlooking the sea with a nice pool. Everything was super clean and they provide coffee and water in the rooms. The hotel was intimate which was nice as I got to chat with a few other travelers during my stay, and all rooms have a view of both the pool and the ocean which was great I ate dinner and breakfast here twice and everything was amazing. My flight wound being canceled and I wound up trekking back to Champs because I loved it so much the first time. Lise the owner was so sweet and accommodating and was a delight to chat with. I would 10/10 recommend staying here while in Dominica.…
I spent about a week here and couldn't have had a better stay. Lise and Hans are super helpful and love to socialize with you guests. Lise went above and beyond helping me plan what I should do each day. She definitely went out of her way to make sure I had a great start and could see and experience as much of Dominica as possible. Can't thank you enough Lise! The restaurant is also amazing and the staff are super friendly. Good wine selection also! Thanks Sabrina and Tarnita! The pool is just the right side to enjoy and the oil deck is a great place to spend the afternoon. The views from any level of the hotel are spectacular looking over Portsmouth and Cabrits. Stay here! You will have an amazing experience!
The room was clean and comfortable and the food was terrfic. The view from our balcony and the pool deck was stunning. We stayed at the Champs for 5 nights. It was lovely. Our hostess Lise and her staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They were flexible and accommodating and arranged unique expereinces to introduce us to their beautiful island home.
I travelled with my family and from the very first interaction with the owner (Lise) I received marvellous service. The arrangements on arrival were detailed and concise, we were getting to Dominica quite late in the evening and Lise kept the restaurant open for us (including some delicious rum punch on arrival). Her team were also fantastic, very customer focussed and very patient with our two babies. The rooms were clean and of a good standard with stunning views over the Caribbean Sea, I would recommend hiring a vehicle but it was a short walk to the shops (hilly on the way back)
We stayed at The Champs for five nights in March 2022. The staff are incredible and will completely take care of everything you could possibly need. The breakfast that comes with your stay is amazing with fresh juice and fresh baked bread. So good. We also ate dinner there every night and everything from the pizza to the pasta were very good. The rooms had incredible views with a nice spot to sit outside right outside your door to enjoy the view. Highly recommend The Champs!
A belated Honeymoon cannot thank Lise enough for her communication prior to our arrival and the welcome we received. We mostly ate at The Champs, food was great, room was very clean, couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Lise and your team for looking after us so well and making our trip to your beautiful island so memorable. Take care Billy & Sharon
Our lovely room and balcony overlooked Prince Rupert Bay and Cabrits National Park. The pool and nearby beach were enjoyable. Lise, the proprietor, was so helpful with information, making arrangements and providing answers. The meals and service at The Champs were great. Our dinners at nearby restaurants were memorable and fun! We rented a car to explore on this island. Driving was challenging but doable. Covid testing at the DOM airport was helpful in meeting the travel requirements. We highly recommend
