We had an absolutely amazing time in this lodge, even if we only stayed one night. It is such a lovely place with warm and welcoming people and really delicious food. The lodge with the recycling products and the garden is just beautiful. Joel and Selma assisted us in advance by organising and booking two tours with guides, a night tour (with Alex) and a bird watching tour (with Jorge Luis)! Both were really really great, we encountered beautiful exciting nature and saw many birds, the red eye frog and many other animals. Thanks a lot to Joel, the lodge team and both guides for this great time which we will not forget and recommend. It was a bit unfortunate that we only stayed one night to enjoy this Beautiful place, the hospitality and the food.
We were recently lucky enough to stay at Celeste Mountain Lodge as part of a tour with Journey Latin America. The Lodge is extremely comfortable, stylishly designed and furnished with an emphasis on recycling and sustainability. Most of the furnishings have been imaginatively reclaimed and reused by the French owner. The great pride he and his team have in what they are doing is a delight to experience and the delicious meals created by the kitchen team were certainly the best we encountered during our stay in Costa Rica. The daily hedge-trimming undertaken by the gardener is just one example of the attention to detail that is sought, and the beautiful gardens, visited by numerous bird species, are a pleasure to meander through.
We stayed 3 nights but would have liked to stay more. Beautiful views from our corner room. The food was beautifully presented and delicious- the best meals we had in Costa Rice. The hosts were really friendly and chatty, and really helped to make the experience memorable.
The Celeste Mountain Lodge is a magical place. The moment you exit your car, you know you made the right choice to be there. The Lodge is stunningly built into a mountain with its own carefully manicured garden trail, and an hour long rain forest trail just across the street on their private property. The jaw-dropping views from every room and from the communal dining area cannot be sufficiently described. They must be experienced. The food is local, thoughtfully prepared, and quite healthy. The air is fresh. The water is fresh. The furniture and décor provide a hint of whimsy, and the building design brings the outdoors inside. The owners, Joel and Selma, are memorably charming -- wonderful raconteurs, modest, smart, warm, and polyglots. We heard them speaking Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English fluently. The location is minutes from every local attraction. We felt stimulated, rejuvenated, and happy after our stay. Thank you Joel and Selma!…
Great place for bird lovers and nature lovers to visit. A set meal served on shared trestle tables may not suit all. But. That made for some great shared conversations. The owner was very engaging and the staff are very friendly. The night walk was a hit with us as was the walk in the National Park... but get there early! Great eco design throughout.
