This is a wonderful place to stay. Hosts Val and Mark are delightful and very informative about the wildlife in the local area. The rooms are really comfortable and breakfast was a real treat. The house backs on to fields and woods which are full of birds, rabbits and deer.

We reached Tomintoul by night fall after a wonderful but lengthy drive through the highlands. I was worried that we would arrive too late but our hosts were very gracious and we found clean and comfortable accommodations and a full breakfast the next morning. We had a short but very pleasant stay. I wish we could have stayed longer.

I was initially put off by the somewhat draconian instruction that check-in had to be completed by 20:00, or else! Thankfully there was no need whatsoever to worry. Val and Mark are excellent hosts and provide a very warm welcome. The room was large, airy, clean and warm. There was a shared bathroom, but this posed no problem. It is...
