Extremely comfortable stay with a warm hearty scottish welcome. Les and John (owners) alongside Becky and Lorraine make the perfect dream team from ensuring that I had all I needed, to their wealth of local knowledge.

The room was cleaned and decorated to a high standard with beautifully cooked food at both breakfast and (optionally) in the evening!

Tomintoul is a stunning location but what made the stay so perfect was the people who work so hard to create the amazing atmosphere at Gordon House.

I will certainly be back!

Well what can I say and where do I even begin, this was the most memorable and pleasureful stay I’ve ever had in any B&B, and I’m a tour guide who has over hundreds of nights on the road.
From the minute I entered I was warmly greeted by Lesley ( Les ) the landlady and shown to what I can only describe as a wonderful suite/room which had everything from digital to WiFi power shower and copious amounts of space.
The place was immaculate and interesting and I was invited back to a large dining room table where other guests were chatting swapping stories and getting to know each other. We had a lovely lady from Germany telling jokes to a gentleman from Merseyside and John who is local was telling me about the history and mystery of Tomintoul.
Les was fantastic and played great music in the background and I truly felt like I’d met up with friends whom I hadn’t seen in a while.
The stay was so comfortable and the highland hospitality was an absolute credit to Les. I wish to stay here every time I’m in the vicinity or even not. I can’t recommend this establishment enough. Thank you Les for a great stay.

This is a great place to stay. The host Les makes you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. The rooms are a good size with good facilities as well as a few luxuries. Breakfast has plenty of choice and I would definitely recommend the dinners as they are amazing. I had a double room & there is another room with 3 single beds which would be great for a family or a party of friends. There is parking on the street in this lovely village. Les will tell you herself that the place is a work in progress so it is not perfect but is very clean. Les is a very generous host, both with her person & her facilities. I would stay here again without any hesitation. As this is a B&B there were no arrows on the flow to direct guests, but masks were worn at all times & hands were washed as required.

What a wonderful place to stay, Les & John want you to feel at home and you certainly do. As they said it's still a work in progress but they are getting there. We had the double with ensuite, well stocked with tea/coffee and water in the mini fridge and a selection of snacks - not that you'll need them if you choose to have the evening meal. Les made sure any allergies were catered for and was more than generous with the drinks and food. Breakfast was another great meal. Will we stop again of course we will

After a long trek over the moors we were delighted to arrive at Gordon House, to be greeted by such a warm welcome from Les and John. As an old inn the Gordon House is full of history that is being loving renovated - a work in progress but you can feel how much passion the owners have for this project. We stayed in the family suite, two rooms (sleeps up to 5) with private bathroom, so was very COVID secure. Rooms were very comfortable and quiet; central heating still a work in progress but plenty of heaters to compensate. Shower over the bath was ok, ideal for families and with plenty of hot water. Breakfast cooked by Les was amazing with lots of locally sourced ingredients, all provided in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

We stayed at Gordon House for one night. A warmer welcome would be hard to find than we one we had from Les. Within the hour we were chatting like old friends. The whole vibe is relaxed and welcoming. Eating the evening meal with Les and John was great fun.
Our room was clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet, everything necessary for a good nights sleep.
We both had the freshly cooked "full scottish" breakfast.........it was piping hot and delicious.
We would stay here again without any hesitation.

Gordon House is very much an ongoing renovation project - is it finished? No. Will it be? Well, history doesn't stop... Les and John are writing their own unique chapter, adding to the rich history of Gordon House and it's a delight to see a living building being brought back to life. But don't think that the ongoing work takes anything away from your stay, it's already warm, cosy, and has everything you need, but more than that it has character. Oodles of it. Every item they've brought into the house has it's own story.

The work that is being done, or is being planned, is to improve it further... There's an eye on outdoor spaces, and increased self-sufficiency - greenhouses and vegetable patches for fruit and veg, a chicken coop for eggs (on top of the existing focus on local produce).

Les and John are equally passionate about hosting as they are about their home. It is no exaggeration to say that they gave us the warmest welcome we've had from a B&B and we genuinely felt like friends staying over for a few days. We ate together (Les is an excellent cook), drank together, and stayed up long into the early hours chatting about everything and anything.

We will go back, not just for Les and John's generosity and hospitality, but to see how Gordon House evolves, and of course because it's in a picturesque town in a perfect location from which to enjoy the beautiful Cairngorms.

Warm welcome from Les and John who were lovely hosts throughout our stay. Our family rooms were especially spacious and well equipped. We were served a lovely homecooked dinner and breakfast with local produce. Our hosts encouraged a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere at their place and I would recommend staying there.

This time last week we were enjoying the wonderful hospitality from Les and John at Gordon House.
From the minute we walked in the door, we felt at home.
Our room was gorgeous, everything was spotless and with everything in place Covid wise, we felt safe.
Knowing that we had had all our planned holidays cancelled this year, Les created a lovely themed foodie weekend for us, with Tapas and one of the best steaks I have had in years. And with the all inclusive drinks flowing, it didn't matter that the rain never stopped. Breakfast was lovely too, fresh and cooked to order.
Great food, great room but most importantly, great hosts.
We will be back. Donald's already seeking out new jokes John 😉.

This was my 2nd time staying at Gordon House and it was just as good as, if not better than, the first. John and Les are such wonderful hosts. They are welcoming, friendly, generous and very hospitable. You truly do feel like you are staying with friends, and coming here feels like coming home. This place is unlike any other B&B I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in quite a few!

If you are considering a trip to the beautiful Cairngorms then you must stay here.
