Nestled in midst of Cairngorms National Park , Tomintul our stay at Stronaivaich was very relaxing and pleasant.
We had the whole cottage for our group of 4 adults and it was self catering.
The village square of Tomintul is a 7 mins drive and has a few pubs and restaurants.
The bedrooms are very spacious and beautiful with ensuite bathrooms in 3 bedrooms
The cottage is overlooking the woods .
The property had a sauna .. we also enjoyed a relaxing sauna too.
Our Host Jeff was very helpful . I highly recommend this accommodation if you want to experience Cairngorms National Park

Four nights away here was not long enough. We felt welcome, safe, looked after and private. Lovely cooked breakfast with the best fresh free range eggs, loads of information on the local area and Jeff was a very friendly and extremely helpful host. The perfect place to stay surrounded by beautiful places to visit.

Beautiful location and facilities, very comfortable and well thought out. Rooms sparkling with great en suite, and an excellent breakfast. Just perfect, hope to be able to return.
Would recommend that you stay longer than one night if you’re after walks and historical touring. Tomintoul has some gift shops worth visiting, no tat. And the folder of local attractions in the hotel is fab - one could easily spend a week in the area just exploring Jeff’s recommendations.

After a long but very beautiful journey from Glasgow (the trip over the A93 across the Cairngorms is spectacular) I eventually arrived on a wet and windy ight. The place isn't easy to spot from the road (especially in the dark - it has a Scottish flag flying outside, but you wouldn't notice if unless you were looking for it). Jeff was an amicable host and the whole guest house I have to say was very classy, with lots of nice little touches you wouldn't get from many B and Bs. The village of Tomintoul is about two miles away so you'll need to drive if you want to eat in the evening (especially on darker nights). Breakfast was good and hearty.

I spent two nights here and would recommend it. Very well appointed bedroom with windows on three sides. Excellent en suite bathroom and very good breakfast with a wide selection of fruit, muesli, cereals and hot food. Separate entrance for guests, a small kitchen to prepare dinner in if required and a dining room/lounge in which to sit and savour a glass of whisky. Plenty of off street parking. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I am in the area.

Jeff was a great inn keeper, very responsive. Had great Scottish breakfast. Room is large with private sauna. Location is remote in the countryside and need a car to get to. Location is 50 min from braemar and is a great option if going to the braemar Highland games.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at this property very near Tomintoul. Our room was spacious and we had a huge King size bed. Our host, Jeff, was very helpful and knows the area very well. He was able to give us good advise on places to visit. We felt like we got an insiders perspective. It was also quite nice to be greeted with a “dram” of whiskey. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the perfect location to go from castle to distillery to hiking (not necessarily in that order).

The bed and breakfast was located in a beautiful area. It was clean and well furnished and had everything we needed. The breakfast was good especially the eggs from the chickens on site. The addition of a small kitchen was very welcome.

Stronavaich - I found it easily as owner had sent directions via email. There’s also a sign post outside. There was no formal check in, just a request to choose breakfast options for the following morning. I got a quick tour of my room which was very spacious with a large bath/ sauna area and a separate shower and toilet area. Shower was great! Plenty of towels were easily accessible but no hand wash at the sink. The bed was very big and extremely soft and comfortable. Pillows were hard. Tea/coffee facilities. Unfortunately, the room wasn’t as clean as it ought to be. Many items/ ledges had gathered dust and the radiator had a stain spilled down which hadn’t been cleaned. I can’t fault the bedding though. Breakfast was delicious with fruit, yoghurt, cereals & toast on offer before the Scottish breakfast (no beans :-0) Jeff, the host, was great. Very welcoming and friendly.

Loved this place. Comfortable, quiet, warm and homely. The owner was very helpful, the breakfast was more than sufficient (I had the Cairngorm!) plus there was more choice. Im a big chap and it filled me up so don’t understand some of the other reviews. I will be back with my better half to look round the area instead of having to work.
