Would you believe I asked to have the room mopped at Blue Horizon hotel atleast once because of the dust under my feet and was told I have to mop it my self . I asked for management for them to tell me this also. I asked why staff can't come in and mop in they protective gear ,they said it was not allowed by the ministry. But I said I spoke and paid the same staff at checking in, in their protective gear , the bellman walk next to me in his mask and the young lady being breakfast in hermask. But the can't clean room in their mask. I asked to be transfer to another room have this one clean and I return, or stay on the new room as the hotel has spare rooms , or go on balcony and closed door so that they can mop. Was told they advise guests that they can provide a broom , dust pan and mop. I asked if they would tell a visiting foreigner to mop their room if they complain of all thus dust inside . She has not answer. On checking I realized it's only locals who are told to clean they room.. Not paying $85 USD for a room and $15 USD if you want breakfast and still have no clean rooms. Was told it's not their policy I have asked for management, told her I would place this on Facebook its madness . Called Marriotts and they said if guest aren’t satisfied with a room they have change room policy in place . As we speak chat I'm awaiting a transfer, but im placing this on Facebook . The video here

Quarantined here for 2 nights. In all honesty I only choose this hotel because it was the cheapest I could find as I wasn’t sure how long I’d have to stay in quarantine. Also liked the fact that you were confined to room for quarantine period and not allowed to roam like other hotels. I had braced myself for 5 or 6 night stay as I was arriving just before Christmas. Warm welcome. Though I had confirmed via email I hadn’t sent credit card details as they said they had a waiver on cancellation fees etc due to the uncertainty of flights and negative Covid tests around the time I was flying. Check in was smooth. I had also braced myself for something basic but was pleasantly surprised. I stayed in a double room - 2 double beds. I was on the 4th floor with a great view of Accra beach across the road (room 402) which could be enjoyed from the balcony which had a small table and 2 chairs or from the comfort of the bed. The room was a little small but fine for the time we were there. There was a fridge and a kettle and a small area above the fridge where tea could be made and a couple of shelves where we placed our snacks. Bathroom was a decent size and more importantly for me it was clean and no mildrew etc. 2 bed side tables, 2 lamps and a long desk, a chair and a big poof thing. Phone is free for local calls. There was some noise from all the traffic on main road but nothing overbearing and couldn’t hear a thing once I had ear plugs in. I quite enjoyed hearing the hustle and bustle of life below. I know this area quite well as I love visiting Accra beach when in Barbados. There are lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, eateries, gift shops and a convenience store very near to the hotel; or you can do a leisurely stroll to Hastings or South Quay. Just opposite the hotel is a bus stop where you can get a minivan to Bridgetown and it’s on a very popular route so you’ll never wait more than a few minutes for a van. You can also start the lovely board walk walk from nearby. Location wise the hotel is excellent. Relatives brought food packages and supplies both days and we had a delivery from Cheffette one evening. On each occasion there was a delay in a member of staff bringing the stuff up to the room but not too bad. Once we got time slot for follow up Covid test reception arranged us a taxi. We were confined to our room at all other times which was sensible in my opinion. The only other real dealing we had with reception was trying to order some food on Christmas morning. The phone line wasn’t working for restaurant so someone was meant to call us back. Took over an hour for first call to come informing us it was a different menu for that day but chef was out and would call back. Then the chef rang saying he’d bring some menus up. I said fine just slide them under door. Another hour passed and nothing nor no call back. Thankfully we had some supplies from previous day so didn’t go hungry. When the phone did ring a while later it was reception calling to say our negative text results were back and we were free to leave. While waiting for our lift I decided to run across road to the beach. Reception gave us 2 towels. All in all my stay here was short but good. They took payment for 2 nights on arrival and as we left around 3.3pm, they didn’t charge us for a third night. A couple weeks later we checked into Mango Bay for 2 nights. See my review for Mango Bay but in all honestly, would have been much better value for money checking back into Blue Horizon again.

We spent two glorious weeks at the Hilton Resort Barbados (glowing review to follow). Our departure flight was delayed until the following morning so American Airlines put us up at the Blue Horizon and to be truthfully honest, I would have rather slept at the airport it was that bad! We are a family of four with two young boys, check-in terribly slow and unprofessional, MOSQUITO CITY! The lady who checked us in yelled ‘there is no breakfast for you in the morning as AA forgot to provide vouchers’ no compassion or alternative whatsoever. Finally checked in at 8.30pm to be placed on the 5th floor with all our luggage & no elevator! Headed back down to the lobby at 9.05pm to be told ‘Sorry, dinner finishes at 9pm’ we practically pleaded with them as our children had not eaten since 1pm due to the delay. The server was very rude at best, disappeared into the kitchen for a good 10min and reappeared ‘We can cook you pork and chips’ and with no alternative we went ahead with the order. My children ate their meal, see pic attached which they charged us the costly sum of $55 per child (1 dry pork chop, frozen veg & chips) Only providing the menu when we questioned the price! The hotel room was in a terrible state of repair, the remote control for the air con unit had flat batteries and the room was stifling hot, the telephone didn’t work which resulted in several trips down five flights of external stairs in 30* heat, all took a cold shower as zero hot water in the bathroom, bedding was a joke .. one thin towel type blanket and one thin pillow each, finally no curtains covering the huge triangular section of the patio doors to the ceiling, daylight streaming in at 6am! A fridge and very dirty electric kettle (no coffee machine or condiments). What little furniture the room had was very tatty and dirty. If I would have left zero feedback if it was possible ... Stay away, spend your money elsewhere !!!

We stayed here at the end of February/March. There was a large group of young people who were part of some Judo teams from Guadeloupe and Bermuda ranging from quite young children to late teens. The judo teams seemed to be supervised by their parents who weren’t very aware of the needs of other guests staying at the hotel. This made breakfast very busy and they took over the pool area in the late afternoon and made it very unpleasant for anyone else who was trying to enjoy the pool as they were very noisy and boisterous, jumping in the pool and splashing anyone in the vicinity. Unfortunately this made the atmosphere of the hotel very unpleasant. Breakfast was chaotic, the staff were hopeless at setting up the tables after any one had left. The breakfast itself is very basic - 2 types of cake, cereal, toast and apples and bananas which wouldn’t have been too bad but unfortunately the waiting staff were truly terrible. The service was incredibly bad. Surely bringing tea/ coffee, juice, and toast can’t be that difficult to organise but it seemed impossible for any member of staff to remember to bring everything together within a reasonable time frame. Our room was very basic, the shower was awful, very little hot water and a really unattractive decor. On a good note the managers rum punch party on the Thursday evening was actually very pleasant and the food supplied was very nice. The staff joined in and created a nice atmosphere. It’s a shame that some areas of the hotel let it down so much, as it has the potential to be be a really nice hotel. Altogether our stay was unpleasant and we will definitely not be back.

Great location. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. 1 minute from lovely beach. The room was clean with excellent house keeping. Fridge and tea making facilities. Reception staff hit and miss. The major disappointment was breakfast. A review from 2018 said same but no evidence of improvement, apples, bananas, cereals(3) limited cake and toast every day. Breakfast staff generally poor. Disinterested and vague. Nice pool area. As mentioned in other reviews the hotel is perfectly adequate but doesn't set the world on fire.
