Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stunning location on the hill and very picturesque. Rooms are pleasant and well equipped but the air con is a bit weak. Your going here to steep yourself in the building. Car parking is good. Not much to do locally or in the town but a good base for Venice and other areas. Food is a bit uninteresting for such a grand place and wine can be very pricey.

I think this hotel deserves a split review. The property is amazing, cool old castle with the most amazing views ever!! The views are so beautiful from every direction. The restaurant was very good and the staff was helpful and friendly. But the room was small and tired and dated. The bathroom needs to be updated as well. The bed was like sleeping in an actual old castle and that could be an easy fix. But overall the experience was nice, so I’d you are making an informed decision, it’s a fantastic location!!!

The location, views and the property are incredible. However, some of the staff members were not always as helpful and courteous as you would expect at this sort of place. In saying that, the lady who served us at breakfast was great, very friendly and always a big smile on her face (yes, you can see that even with the facemask on).

Wonderfull castle both interior and surroundings. Reception staff is good and professional. Breakfast experience good and professional staff. Evening restaurant experience was disappointing with respect to staff expect some that were professional and welcoming. Keep in mind that you have to go by car to neighboring towns to eat if not want to go to hotel restaurant. Spa very well equipped. In all an impersonal experience but extraordinary surroundings.

We stayed here for two nights. The historic property and its location are unique. The rooms were adequate, a little on the small side (probably because they don't have the whole hotel open; and as always in the last 18 months, covid is the excuse). Their main restaurant is also closed, leaving guests to only be able to dine at their pizza restaurant where the service lacks the sophistication of the hotel's history! Breakfast is actually poor... more like a 2 star hotel's! The staff are nice but some seem to have just started in the hospitality business. I think a wonderful Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons or even a small boutique hotel company with the expertise of running a good hotel can make this a real gem. We are glad to have experienced it, but would look for something different if we went back to the area. The hike up the Via del l'Aqua made it all worthwhile for us... after my hike I got a massage... which also was merely OK. The potential of this place is vast...

Castel Brando How do you rate a 2000-year-old castle?? One word: AMAZING!! You ride a funicular from the parking lot to the castle to check in, very fun way to enter this phenomenal castle. Got an unexpected upgrade upon arrival (because they weren’t at capacity that weekend) and check in was a breeze. Beautiful lobby with remnants of the old 13th Century castle preserved throughout. Enjoyed a facial and foot massage at their spa (you don’t have to be a guest to do this)—Giulietta is a great esthetician and I would highly recommend booking time with her. The spa is amazing…walking through the hallways, you felt as though you were in the 13th Century castle itself. And they definitely do a great job with sanitization for COVID throughout. Dark, large hallways, a dungeon, an original tower, fountains, great outdoor lighting highlighting 2 bell towers and a 70-step staircase leading up to the great room at the top, all made for an immersive feeling of being back in the 1800s when the castle was renovated. They also have a 90 min tour for €10 that is well worth your time and money! No need to be a guest for the tour either. Room was great with a “royal feel” to it with an amazing view of the mountains and valley. Breakfast was included and was good, lots of choices, hot and cold food and service was impeccable. I would definitely give this hotel 10 stars if I could, but 5 is what it receives. Make time to see this gem!!

Staying at a medieval castle is an awesome, unique experience to start with and at CastelBrando they go a step further, as you can even rent some of the castle towers to stay in and even better, the bill won’t break the bank. However you do feel a bit intimidated to not touch or destroy some of the wonderful old frescoes on the walls. And at a small extra cost you can even have the breakfast served in your tower living room, an absolutely unforgettable experience. The castle is also great to just visit and enjoy its museums and the bar and restaurant which offer stunning views of the valley below.

The hotel is spot on. The reception service is excellent. There is a free of charge parking at the base of the funicular. The hotel parking costs 7 euros/night. The spa is a must and it is not really expensive.

Great location, stunning views. Castle has been lovingly restored and has large dining areas, terraces with absolutely amazing views. Access to the castle is via a funicular railway, which is an experience in itself. Rooms are smaller than you might think, but to be expected of a place this age. Free wi-fi is patchy at best. Bed comfy, bathroom tiny. Food is OK, nothing special, but not appalling either.
