We stayed here for 10 nights and it was actually better than expected . Their attention to detail was somewhat lacking and some (not all) staff did need lessons in customer service . Lynda in reception was delightful and very helpful. The choice of food is not expansive but what they do have is well cooked, especially at lunch where you have table service . There are not enough umbrellas around the pool or beach. The charge of 1 euro to change your towel is petty . However the rooms are clean if a little in need of updating but totally fine. We had a lovely stay and wouldn’t let some of the reviews put you off staying here the location is beautiful .

Amazing spot. UTTERLY PATHETIC client service. Run like a bureaucracy. No idea whatsoever what quality client service is... So sad. This place could be heaven. Instead it's just a very average hotel...

Definitely paradise! The staff were so friendly, especially the restaurant staff. We became great friends with them in a short period of time and we were really looked after by them during our stay here. The food was marvellous, with options for everyone. The hotel itself had brilliant extrusions, especially the Death in Paradise one. This is simply a must as the hotel is in more than one episode of the series. The room we stayed in was a lovely space to use as a base for our adventures during the day. The views were fantastic across the beach and land the hotel is situated on. You couldn't fault the hotel or the staff. We had a marvellous time. The beaches the hotel are located on are beautiful. Basse-Terre Island is totally an unspoilt location, and ideal for people who do not want a commercialised holiday destination.

We were positively surprised by this hotel. The best way to explore the island is by car. I would recommend to rent a car right at the Airport; there is a shuttle service which will bring you to the rental car station just around the corner. Be careful while driving, people here drive fast and do not always keep distance to each other. The hotel offers parking space. Reception and main building are in a short walking distance. Check in, first, and leave your luggage in your car, the hotel will help you to bring it to your room. We are staying in room 415, it's a mini suite and we found it very spacious with a balcony and wonderful view over the bay. Air con was working fine and the suite has an empty fridge. We would recommend this room type to couples who like space or a family with children (The sofa can be converted to a bed). The TV offers just a few french channels. However, and that's a great thing, you can mirroring your cell phone with the TV. If you download VPN you can watch BBC one and yes, it's so much fun to watch "death in paradise" here. We also checked out the bungalows, they are aranged like a little village on the other side of the complex. Some facing directly the beach, some are a little bit on the backside. Each one offers a bedroom, bathroom, air con and comes with a little terrace and two lounges. In my opinion they look very nice but offer limited space and a lack of privacy. The hotel offers a variety of activites like yoga, cataraman rental and many more things to do. We didn't book half pension as we had breakfast and lovely lunches in Déshaies, so we weren't very hungry for dinner. However, If you want to have dinner in the evening you pay the same price as booked with half pension. The service in the restaurant was very attentive and I've never seen long queues. We dined there twice and found the choise at the buffet quite nice and good. The breakfast is also nicely presented and I found everything I needed. I didn't like the orange juice. Coffee and tee are fine. I loved the beach bar very much with it's comfortable chairs right at the beach. The played my favorite music, the choice of drinks and cocktails were very good and they also offer tasty pizza and paninis at sensibel prices. Fore those traveling with children: There is a big playground with a nurse and for what I've seen they had quite fun with the activites they've been offered. I found the hotel complex very clean, well organiced and it never felt crowded. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had definetely a very nice time here.

We had a very enjoyable four night stay at Langley Resort Fort Royal. It is on one of the prettiest stretches of beaches on the entire island with spectacular sunsets. The hotel is clean and staff, while young, are very helpful. Breakfast (included) was great - we opted out of other meals at the resort as they were all buffets. We stayed in one of the Bungalows. The partial sea view was nearly a full view to me! It was small but clean (the shower and bathroom were very tight). No frills and A/C was just so so. Some little misses - no batteries in the remote control, no tissues/body lotion in the room. Def rent a car to explore the area, eat at some of the amazing restaurants and hit the grocery store for snacks and bottled water (a small fridge is in the room) - it is a far walk from the car park to the resort though. Be sure to pack your own beach towels from home - you were only given 1x per guest with one swapout allowed during your stay and a hold was placed on your credit card. For the location and price, would def stay again!

Just returned from an amazing 14 days in Guadeloupe staying at the Langley Resort Fort Royal. Choose this hotel for all its connections to Death in Paradise. What made it a brilliant holiday - 1. Its location on the bay with sandy beaches and fabulous sunsets, 2. The beach bungalow was to die for, yards from the sea and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. 3, Most of the staff we met particularly the young Swedes whose friendly and cooperative nature added much to the enjoyment of the hotel. Being greeted by Alice or Marion at breakfast brightened the day, Alice - sports centre, Didrik, Joanne & Ellen to name a few. 4. The selection of food which meant that you can vary your diet. Most of the hot mains were well cooked - the duck, octopus and fish were excellent. 5. Water sports centre and the Snorkelling trip not to be missed. 6. Convenience to Deshales and the other Death in Paradise locations. ok there were 2 things that were totally unsatisfactory - 1, we arrived after a delayed flight getting to reception 23 hours after setting off. The receptionist checked us in but there was no offer to transfer our luggage to the room & gave us vague instructions after I had asked her where to find our room. The result was that I dragged 4 pieces of luggage over the walkway getting us lost and took 20 minutes to find our room. However, having found it. it was a WOW this is great. 2. My wife has a disabled car parking badge and limited mobility. the hotels car park is just in the grounds while the drive has a barrier to stop entry. The disabled parking is by the hotel so for the whole of the first week we had to wait for someone to exit to gain entry. OK there is a number to call reception but, if you are not on the local network, forget it it doesn't work. After the first week I approached reception to try to resolve this and I was told to park in the main car park dispite my wife's disability! Fortunately, Svante(?) stepped in a informed me there was an intercom button at the hut outside the hotel gates and told me I was entitled to use the disabled car park. Problem solved but why weren't we told on day 1? (thank God for the Swedes as the French receptionist then admitted her English was very poor). I can't comment on the hotel itself, walking round it it does need some redecoration to the outside but it is in a great location on the headland. The beach bar is well run and I sure it would attract more business and atmosphere if there was more live music instead of once a week.

Fabulous hotel. Stayed in a beach bungalow which was amazing. Saw a beautiful sunset most nights. Food was first class. Served buffet style for breakfast with lots of choice. Evening meal was buffet style for starters, desserts and cheese options with a choice of 2 main courses. Pizza was also available as a main course. Lovely pool on site and also near to many places for exploring.

The hotel and resort is in need of a makeover. It’s tired. The main hotel is a throw back to the 70’s windows and doors are now ill fitting and or broken. There is no welcome or greeting on arrival No one to direct you to your room or help with luggage. The staff are mainly European .Not a local to be seen in front of house. You could be anywhere in the world at Langley Fort. The customer service experience is zero. The staff are young and inexperienced The staffs main aim is to check your wrist at meal times. (More to follow) The vast majority of guests are French mainly with young teenagers and in large groups . It’s not a place for over 50s looking for relaxation and a quality experience. Our room was a beach facing bungalow which was perfectly functional for its purpose. The restaurant/canteen is huge as it needs to accommodate several hundred at meal times. All food is from a buffet with a queuing system that makes you wonder why you are there; the bump! the nudge! from the younger guests to make sure they get there before you, is all part of the experience . It reminded me of school dinner time. Note I say meal times- not dinner or lunch it’s not elegant dining,it’s not relaxing and not an enjoyable experience! To top it all you are “told “ to wear an identity wrist band which designates your status according to meals. Some people may have no issues with this system but others may, at this resort you have no choice. The corporate group that own the resort use it as a “cash cow”and if I was on the board, I would too! It’s designed to squeeze everything out and put nothing back. We decided to check out 3 nights early.

Ant infestation Building will collapse very soon Questionable cleanliness, awful odors in most rooms Limited food options for a “buffet” 1 person on duty over night, no emergency maintenance Service from staff 8/10 Run down Beautiful property and great views Limited privacy in bugalows The main building is going to collapse soon! The floor in my room started to crack and lift and i had to change rooms. The room next door was FILTHY and smelled horrible so I ended up 2 doors down. I was going to move to a bungalow (after putting my foot down about not staying in the collapsing building, only to find out the woman at the front desk was THE ONLY PERSON ON DUTY (around 11pm) and that I'd have to carry my bags across the property by myself. After an exhausting day I resigned myself to the death trap building to avoid the long journey to a less than private bungalow. The ride to the airport is a minimum of 80 euros each way, no shuttle bus option and you're paying almost 200 euros per night. The "buffet" is limited in options for breakfast and dinner and not worth the cost of the meal plan. The property is nice but you're paying the cost for luxury to receive a Greyhound bus station experience. I want my money back! Also there are no double rooms that are equal double beds, just 1 regular bed and an uncomfortable pull out couch.
