This hotel was the high point of our visit to Guadeloupe. We were sad to leave. Liked · Stephanie was super helpful and spoke excellent english! Her pets were a joy! The views and the gardens were the highpoint for me, along with the pool Disliked · Our stay would have been improved with wifi in the room, or a telly, to connect with the local stations. Other than that it was wonderful!!! Beautiful sunsets and a fab location close to all the sights of Basse Terre. 3 restaurants, shops and a beach within easy walking distance.

We all adored our covered porch/kitchenettes overlooking the pool, blue horizon and gorgeous sunsets! I booked this location with high hopes for the easy walk to Leroux beach's snorkeling and 2 restaurants, and we could not have been happier! A great base for so many adventures to be shared between our two families of older teens and 50-ish adults who love French/Creole food & wine, sun, sand and sea. Frequent visits from "Chose" the cat were the icing on the cake. Thank you for one of our loveliest vacations ever, Stephanie!

The whole experience at the hotel was GREAT! 1. Great location on a quiet area, with mountain and sea. The hotel is in a garden, with palm trees, and a superb pool. The beach is very closed, just few meters away walking, is is very clean and great for swimming. 2. The rooms is very clean and large. 3. The kitchen was very clean, well equipped, with a vast table area and sea view. 4. You can only hear the sea and the birds while on the terrase or in the room, even with the door and windows closed. 5. The host was very helpful: she guided us for car rental, with all the details to arrive from the airport to the hotel, and with all the other requests that we had. She even advise us where to buy a birthday cake for our daughter. And it was the best cake we ever had!

We stayed there from the 29/03/19 till the 06/04/19. The hosts - Paola and her husband - welcomed and supported us greatly during our stay (alos arranged reservation for us in a restaurant in Deshaies). We had apartment # 13 which is located on the second floor (4 beds), spacy, high ceeling, and a great view to the sea. The outdoor kitchen is perfectly equiped. The place was very clean and we really felt like home from the first day. The bakery is just 2 minutes to walk away and the lady there was /is very friendly. We also enjoyed the pool a few times in the evenings, but of course we came to swim in the sea. If we come back to Guadeloupe - which is not unlikely - this resort will again be our first choice.

We chose to stay here because of the location and previous reviews and we were not disappointed, it is an amazing location with wonderful views. Paola and Bruno certainly have made this a lovely bit of paradise and they are great hosts and very welcoming and helpful in every way possible. We sat and had breakfast on our patio every morning and were joined by one of their cats everyday and the little black birds like to visit, if you put a little bit of sugar out they will come and eat right from the table. You can also see the parrots flying around the palm trees by the pool and feeding from the feeder by the gazebo and plenty of hummingbirds visiting all the beautiful flowers around the grounds. The bakery just down the hill has wonderful pastries and bread and also down the road a little is a small supermarket which has plenty to choose from and they also speak English, we bought wine and beer here for the evening sitting out on our patio watching the sunset. Thank you Paola and Bruno for your hospitality.

We actually stayed a while ago, Nov '17, and have been meaning to write a review. The owner Paola was exceptionally friendly and helpful, from the first email making the reservation to the end of our stay. An easy drive, about an hour from the airport, we drove at night and had no problems. Paola gave us very easy directions and was there to greet us when we arrived. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, tropical trees and flowers everywhere, lovely orange resident cat. Very clean rooms, somewhat no-frills, but pretty much everything you could need with the exception of pool/beach towels. The view from our 2nd floor room was spectacular. The pool is beautiful, a wonderful place to watch the sunset. The well equipped kitchenette was very nice to have so we could make some of our own meals. There are many grocery stores on the island with anything you might need. The bakery you'll see in all the reviews, it's everything they said and more, huge croissants, light fluffy and delicious. The hotel's location is perfect, on the less populated, quieter island. The beach across the street we had to ourselves, and it's an easy drive to many other beautiful beaches and waterfalls. Paola was very helpful in directing us to them. There were also many good restaurants in Deshaies, a quick 10 minute drive from the hotel. I would highly recommend Au 'Ti Sucrier. The only cons I have are that pool/beach towels are not provided, so packing them for 3 people takes a lot of space in the luggage. And our towels never dried because it was humid. I probably should have asked to use the clothes dryer, but I did not. And the bed we had was quite hard, with flat pillows, not to my taste, but some people like a more firm mattress, and I got extra pillows with no problem. Overall, the hotel is a great value for dollar and I would definitely go back.

We booked a room here because of the universally positive reviews on TripAdvisor, and after staying here for a week in mid-March I have to say ATS surpassed our already high expectations. The owners/managers Paola and Bruno are fantastic -- incredibly nice, always helpful, ready to book restaurants, answer questions, and just chat. Both speak English, Paola especially well, and both are very warm, friendly hosts. They built the entire compound (which is very sturdy and survived last fall's hurricane without a problem) and created a gorgeous garden, full of flowering shrubs and unusual palms. The place is saturated with color, with an emphasis, of course, on blue, green -- and red (the flowers). Our room was clean and well furnished (including a large and comfortable bed); the AC, which you need in the afternoon and at night, worked well; and, above all, the terrace (we were upstairs) had a magnificent view of the ocean, comfortable reading chairs and a table, and a nice small kitchen against one wall with a small fridge, gas burners, microwave, and a supply of plates and cutlery. We didn't cook meals here, as some families did, but we had two simple meals a day here, using the fridge to store the delicious tropical fruit we picked up at the grocery down the street or at the produce markets in nearby Deshaies, pastries from the bakery across the street (and sometimes from the nicer one downtown), baguettes, cheese, sausage, etc. The beautiful beach is an easy 3-minute walk down the hill (there's a gently sloping concrete driveway/road to it once you've crossed the street); we loved swimming there and hearing the ocean waves from our deck. The location is perfect, lush and mountainous, far from the massive resorts and tourist crowds of Grand-Terre, but with enough tourist infrastructure to make things easy. A 7-minute drive north takes you to Deshaies, where there are plenty of good restaurants on the water (Le Mahina was especially good; L'Amer was the only dud), an ATM, grocery store, pastry shop, beach clothing store, gas station, etc. There are several gorgeous beaches to the north and south of the hotel, all easy to reach, most with restaurants for lunch right on the beach. Paola can tell you all about them. We visited half a dozen of them, which was fun, but ended up swimming most often at the beach below the hotel, because it was SO convenient. Most of the beaches are great for swimming, but occasionally they are affected by storms, and all of them had big waves the first day we were here, which were somehow connected to the nor'easter dumping a foot of snow in New England. I'll take the choppy water any day. You're also close to Bouillante (about 25 minutes south) which has two excellent restaurants (La Touna and Le Rocher de Malendure) and is the base for the best snorkeling and whale watching on Basse-Terre (but didn't seem like a nice place to stay), and, on the way there, the D23 highway, which cuts across the island through the national forest, with hiking trails, waterfalls near the road, incredible vistas, etc. Just bring shorts, comfortable shoes, and other casual wear; you will never be cold and you will never need to wear anything more formal. A very happy and relaxing stay for us, with the perfect hosts and just enough adventure in the water and on the land. We will definitely come back next year.

We stayed here with our 2 boys, age 13 and 11, in early March 2018. For a small very-well priced hotel, this place had a lot of perks! The fantastic location in Guadeloupe allowed us to get around Basse-Terre easily, walk to a beautiful beach, and visit a delicious bakery- both only a few steps away. The pool was clean and beautiful, and the outdoor kitchen allowed a lot of relaxed family time when we could make our own food, (b/c the kids were hungry when all of the restaurants were closed in Guadeloupe!) You just need to know what you are in for- the small apartment has 4 rooms, a small separate bedroom with twin beds, a large room that serves as the main bedroom, the bathroom, and the outdoor kitchen and slow wifi. My only tips are to bring a US adapter or two if you need them, and an extra pillow, as each bed only has one. The owners are so kind and work hard, and we would love to go back some day!

We stayed for 12 days mid February and thoroughly enjoyed Au 'Ti Sucrier. Paola was very helpful with any inquiries about the area. Our spacious, clean room was great with a very well equipped kitchen on the covered terrace overlooking the sea. Loved seeing the rainbows after a brief rain and watching the sail boats in the distance while having our meals. The convenience of having a great beach across the road (often with a woman making homemade ice cream as we left), a bakery across from the hotel that also served lunch, and a small grocery store within walking distance were a plus. We would definetly stay again.
