We are a family of 4, two little ones that are ages 3 and 1.5 and we could not say enough great things about Alpenrose. The food was top notch for adults and there were great options for children, even those whose kids might be a little 'selective'. The indoor and outdoor play areas for the children were great, our two could not get enough of them! Both pools were fantastic. The laundry is free and detergent is even provided (you won't find this at many places!). The workout room for adults had all of the equipment that one would need, and the staff were ever so helpful!! Our oldest got a splinter while out on a hike, we didn't have any tweezers or way to remove it, I asked the front desk and very quickly they provided tweezers and disinfectant spray. That is just a small example of how they were helpful in every way. Our waitress(s) and servers were so kind throughout our stay. If you are a family of little ones are are hesitant about the price or where to stay as a family, THIS IS THE PLACE. Every single detail is thought of for families. Even the tables being set with appropriate high chairs and bibs for younger ones at each meal. As I stated, we do not have enough good things to say about Alpenrose. Not to mention the mountain views are breathtaking. We will be back for years to come and hopefully will be bringing all of our friends and family too! Thank you for an exceptional family holiday!

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Alpenrose since 2019 for a family ski holiday. This year we had a bigger room with a bunk and a single bed as our 6ft 15 year old was getting a bit big for the bunks. The hotel rooms were too hot for us as you couldn't turn the heat down below 21C but the windows could be opened. The food is great - you can eat all day and so much choice to suit everyone young and old. The hotel is very clean, spa is lovely and the new larger pool area and games area was a great addition this year with the kids getting older (10 and 15). Ski hire is so handy in the hotel and the lifts opposite the hotel is the main reason we have returned that along with the quiet slopes which have enough variety for us as a family. Would we stay again - well yes we would however looking at next feb half term the price has doubled to 12k for a room from the 6.5k we paid for 2022! Whilst we expect an increase is price this just seems way too excessive and with us not using the childcare and kids clubs we cant justify the cost and will sadly look elsewhere for 2023.

dear helenbell2014 , thank you very much for this top rating. We are pleased that we were able to make both the children and the parents happy. Many guests appreciate our culinary offer, so it's nice that we were able to convince you and your family of this as well. We have a flexible pricing system. If there is a high demand for a desired travel period, the price is adjusted upwards accordingly. Regardless of this, we would be delighted to welcome you and your family back to our hotel. With kind regards Alexander Geisler Front Office Manager

We had a week long family vacation during the Easter break.
The first positive point was already during the booking process. My wife is gluten sensitive, we sent a question in the chat and got a detailed positive answer surprisingly quickly.
We're lucky with the weather, so could do some hiking too, but our son had so much fun in the hotel, that we could not even try everything :)
The kids' waterworld is fantastic, the slides are great even for adults, the spa is good, the indoor playground is more than enough, etc. etc.
The themed dinner buffets work great for the kids, especially, that they can serve themselves, as the hight of the tables is reachable for kids too... (be careful with the gummibear night! :D )
If I need to say one thing, where they could improve, it's the bed. The mats would need to be replaced, but still ok.
We'd love to go back during winter to enjoy the slopes as well.
Overall a great place, which is made to be fantastic with all the little things they do!
Fantastic place, thanks for everything!

We stayed four days in one of the new suites (monte plus) and enjoyed the great spa and the kids were obviously happy with the huge play area. The staff was partly very accommodating (Sebastian from reception was great, as was the valet who welcomed us. The people working in the restaurant were trying hard but seemed understaffed) but given that we payed almost 1000,- per night (more or less the same you would pay for a family room Quellenhof Bad Ragaz) the overall experience was only average, it's certainly no five-star experience (the rooms are not being picked up (they just clean bathrooms and make beds)), the staff at the reception was often unhelpful and the girls we met at kids club did hardly say hello (neither to us nor the kids). The food was ok but not very healthy (mostly animal products and fried stuff and sweets always available everywhere). Another downside is that if you have to watch your kids, you have to spend your day on the underground level. But the ski area is great for families

Dear cblasy79, Thank you for taking the time to rate your stay with us. We are really pleased that you enjoyed our SPA area so much. We are happy to pass on your praise to our Sebastian. The food was excellent! The buffet was large and varied, and changed on a daily basis. Breakfast and lunch were fully buffet, while for dinner there was a children‘s buffet and a selection of served dishes that you pick in the morning. Having the children‘s buffet at dinner was practical to ensure the kids didn‘t go hungry while the adults were waiting for their meal (and even the adults got a few things from the children‘s buffet!). The two pools (one adult, one kids) are very nice, with comfortable areas to sit and relax and to keep the children entertained. And in the hotel itself there are many activities to keep the kids entertained (ball pits, climbing wall, media wall) plus the Kids Club if the adults also want a bit of time for themselves. Would definitely recommend it!

We went back to Alpenrose after almost 3 years due to COVID. Well a lot has been updated. The facilities are second to none with the new amazing huge pool, amazing kids club, and the introduction of the VR Room, the younger kids area and the new lounging and wine area.

What hasn’t changed is the amazing hospitality and staff. Nothing is too much trouble.

We have already booked for 2024.

Travelled as a family of four, kids aged 2 yrs and 4 weeks...
First things first, this review being a "Terrible" is actually not really representative of the facilities you will find at this hotel. As previous reviews have explained, the Alpenrose has great facilities for families, with some very well thought out touches for both children and adults. The location is also excellent in relation to ski lifts and walking trails (although we were not holidaying during ski season).
The problem we encountered was a worrying one however, which completely destroyed our visit and makes us very reluctant to recommend this hotel to others despite the facilities.
After enjoying a couple of days at the hotel, even through some very average weather on the first day, our eldest daughter was sick whilst eating dinner on the second night. We didn't think too much of this at the time, until the next day another parent asked if either of our kids "had started throwing up yet?". This lady went on to tell us that various kids were suffering from bouts of sickness and diarrhoea as some bug was doing the rounds.
We just considered this an unfortunate hazard of coming to a hotel with a high percentage of children staying at it and didn't think too much about it, save for hoping our 4 week old would not catch whatever it was.
The next 30 hours passed uneventfully before our eldest woke up on the fourth day feeling and looking terrible, primarily with what appeared to be a heavy cold. However, as the day progressed she endured seven bouts of vomiting, and we ended up spending the night trying to give her small doses of rehydration fluid every couple of hours (as any bigger amounts made her sick again).
On the fifth day my wife overheard some other guests angrily checking out of the hotel. The reason for the commotion was that these parents had (how I do not know) come to find out that the "bug issue" had been present several weeks, and the hotel knew it had a serious problem with this (one member of staff was admitted to hospital overnight due to the severity of the symptoms they suffered) and was now taking desperate measures to try and disinfect the entire hotel spuriously without making the guests nervous.
As it happened, our baby daughter needed to be checked by a local physician on this day anyway for an unrelated issue (we travelled knowing this would be the case) so when my wife got to the doctor's office she enquired if this "bug" was a known issue there. It transpired that the information the other parents had was correct, and the problem had been going for several weeks, and it was a Rotavirus that was extremely contagious and very severe in the symptoms it caused.
In our opinion, when a hotel has a small epidemic of this nature (scores of people infected), they have a duty of care to their guests, particularly the children, and should inform the parents that there is an issue. This would allow parents to make an informed decision about whether to travel to the hotel or not, and prevent some very young children being exposed to such a potent virus. In our case, the hotel were well aware 5 days before we arrived that we were bringing a baby that would be 4 weeks old upon our arrival, and as a hotel dealing with children they should have made the issue known to us because they should know that a virus like this can have very serious consequences should such a young baby catch it.
Whilst we appreciate that :
a) all kid-intensive places get bugs, we certainly get enough of them from our 2 year old when she's been to playgroups and artschool!!
b) when you are running a hotel business you rarely want to shout from the rooftops that you have a nasty virus problem at your hotel which you are desperately trying to get rid of now it has sent one of your staff to hospital, because this is invariably bad for business
it really is not good enough.
In our case, had the hotel shown more regard for the welfare of our two kids, in particular our much more vulnerable baby daughter, than profit by calling or emailing ahead and informing us about the issue, we would have been extremely impressed with the proactive stance and the right priorities being in place, and would certainly have visited the hotel during the next 12 months instead. (And having visited there without this issue, we would heartily recommend the place).
As it is, we have no regard for a business that pays no heed to the potential damage that could be caused by allowing parents to turn up with small babies (several other sub 4 month children were there, and very many under 2) and staying in an environment known to be teeming with an extremely contagious Rotavirus.
Upon checking out a day early, the hotel graciously didn't charge us for the night which we would not be staying (it is not a cheap place to stay by the way), and whilst agreeing that the hotel was wholly unsuitable for a 4 week old to be staying in due to the virus issue, the main line seemed to be "well, kids get sick, its a kinderhotel, and it happens every year when all the small babies come and stay here". Well thats okay then!!
A terrible shame because the facilities and staff (management aside...) were excellent and would warrant at least one return visit.

Dear Mrs Brit, thank you for staying at our Hotel twice. I absolutly understand your annoyance after your second stay. It's not a nice thing to be sick during a holiday. I'm very sorry about this. With this statement i would like to inform you, that we closed our hotel just a few days after your departure. Thats means exactly two weeks after the first infection. It was a very difficult decision for the hotelmanagement. You would think that the guests would understand it, but in fact it was just the other way round. They were very dissapointed and angry that they could'nt come. At the end it of cause was the right decision, unfortunatly after you left. Since then a few things have been changed. For example: Desinfection sprays have been built up in front of the restaurantand buffet area, where you can desinfact your hands and also the cleaning ladies have seperate cleaning clothes for each room. At the end I would like to mention, that these kind of virus is brought in by guests. It's nothing to do with food or hygiene. It can happen to any kind of facility like schools, cruisers, restaurants, I even rember a hospital beeing closed. I can't guarantee that this won't happen again, but I can guarantee that you won't find a hotel that does as much against it as we do.

My wife and I have been travelling to the Zugspitz Arena area (Lermoos, Ehrwald, Berwang) for skiing for the last 10 years, and now that we have a 4 year old boy, we want to be able continue to enjoy our Tyrolean skiing experience. We have been to the Alpenrose for the last 2 years as it enables us to do this and actually have a skiing holiday.

The Alpenrose in Lermoos provides the rare (that we have found) ability for my son to be entertained (or join us whenever) from 8:30am to 9:00pm with play areas, indoor and outdoor activities (such as walks in the forest to feed the animals, pirate treasure adventures, face painting, sledging and more). They also provide bus services to ski schools in Lermoos.
Our experience is that my son loves the kids mini club and will happily play there for hours and make new friends.
These services for children allows the adults to ski worry free for as long as we like knowing that our child is enjoying themselves in a safe and well managed environment.

Staff:
Our experience with the staff is that they are very friendly, helpful and obviously relaxed around children. Everyone (from the cleaners to the owner) makes the effort to say hello to you as you make your way around the hotel.
The best example of how relaxed the staff can be are the waiters bringing food to tables through a crowd of under 5's running around the restaurant. No one cares or complains that your little darling is enjoying themselves in this way.
The kid club staff are also try very hard to engage and make the children happy (despite the inevitable tantrums with over tired kids).

Food:
Food is generally of a very high standard and with an extensive selection, there are several themed nights (such as fondue nights, seafood buffet nights, chocolate nights) that create variety. Breakfast and lunch are buffets (hot and cold) which have a great selection and are plentiful. Dinner is a mixture of buffet some nights and al a carte waited service.
The flexibility of the kitchen and waiting staff is also worth noting: You choose you selected menu for the evening meal and turn up for dinner at any time between 6:45pm and 8:30pm. We have never had to wait more than a few minutes for our food to arrive.
If you want to eat in your room then they just put your selection on a trolley and bring it up.

Rooms:
The whole hotel is very much a traditional style (with some accents on being contemporary) and the rooms follow this theme. Lots of wood and traditional Tyrolean decor that is in keeping with the general feel of Lermoos and the area. We had a room that was a bit tired (sink had cracks in it) but these are really minor gripes and the rooms feel spacious comfortable and you are able to have a good nights sleep.
The rooms we stayed in (Fursten suite this year) have both had views out across to the Zugspitse, Alpspitze and Grubig mountains which is a real pleasure to see on a sunny morning when they are covered in snow.

Location:
Lermoos is relatively easy to access from Munich (closest major international airport) being a 2 hour drive. Or from Innsbruck, which is a 45 minute drive.
The location of the hotel within the village is also really great for easy access to ski lifts. It is literally across the road from the main lift in Lermoos up the Grubigstein.

Pricing
The hotel only offers (I think..) full board and the room rates can be viewed as expensive. The price of the stay however needs to be in context of the adults actually being able to have a holiday at all. Staying in a slightly cheaper hotel where you have to look after your kids 24 hrs a day does not make for a relaxing experience.
So it is really you get what you pay for, but you have to pay the price for getting a real holiday.

On the feedback front, there is only one real thing that could be improved to make the stay 100% perfect:
As we are from Australia, good coffee is almost a religion. The coffee in Europe generally is not that great and the Alpenrose has decent coffee machines but to have a real barista made available for my morning latte like I get in Sydney would be perfect.
(Some of the rooms have pod coffee machines in them so that helps).

Some pros and cons in summary:

Pros
- Range of services for kids
- Location
- Staff friendliness and flexibility
- Relaxed atmosphere

Cons
- Needs an Australian barista in residence...

As a final note: I have already booked my stay for 2 weeks in January 2016.
