This place is exactly what you pay for. No frills but clean and comfortable. The owner is excellent and has a lot of knowledge as well as helping to book onward travel and tours in the area. Cheating is a great stop and definitely choose payung if on a budget!

Stayed a night here. Booked 2 queen size bedroom, fan and attached bathroom for only rm60. Towel and mosquito net are provided. There's only 2 plug point in the room. One of it use for the fan, so the traveler only have another one. I prefer you guys bring along your external plug point.

Payung is a great place to stay with friendly managers and clean comfortable rooms. I stayed in an air conditioner room and it is worth the extra if you have room in your budget. Also had individual bathroom, mosquito net, free wifi and deck with chairs outside, comfortable mattress. Guesthouse is a beautiful garden setting backing on to river and...

On our arrive in Cherating we were quite chaotic (migraine/long day in bus/ no cash) as our reservation for another guesthouse wasn't as nice as we thought. Luckily the staff from Payung had one room left and cleaned it right away. Throughout our stay they were most friendly and helpful. By organizing trips and giving tips, they also cal a...

I rang and talked with Nick before arriving in Cherating - his guest house is one of the few on the internet that you can contact or pre book. I had originally made a tentative booking with a cheaper guest house but once I saw the mould in the rooms I went to Payung. Nick and Ria are a great...

This was my second trip to Cherating but my first stay at Payung. I definitely prefer it to the guest house I stayed in last time. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. Like a new friend, rather than just another guest. My room was quite clean and the bathroom has been remodeled so it's...

We stayed in our charming little chalet for 6 nights and could have easily stayed much longer if we hadn't had other plans. The chalet was cozy, comfortable and very clean. The toilet flushed and despite a few gaps in the building, we didn't even need the mosquito net provided! Nick and Ria were very friendly and helpful and gave...

Really couldn't ask for much more from a guesthouse! Everything was clean, from the bedding to the bathroom. No roaches or ants. Didn't see more than a mosquito, either. The design of the chalets makes you feel like you are living in a real kampung (village) and the couple who run the place, Nick and Ria, are great, friendly humans....

On arrival the friendly owners showed us around and told us the ins and outs about Cherating. The bungalows are basic, but the good kind. Clean, everything you need is there and a good musqito net. The garden is beautiful, so it's nice to relax on your balcony as well. The English owner helps you with trips, around town and...

A very pleasant collection of chalets in a shaded green area in the heart of Cherating. Payung guesthouse is a clean and convenient place to stay. The owners are very helpful and welcoming and gave me a lift to the station when I missed my first bus.
