The hotel is very well located, close to Kos Town. Beautiful garden, well-kept surroundings, very friendly service. We are impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms. Mrs. Liliana cleaned our room every day and every day she made beautiful decorations with towels. Thank you. Delicious food, clean hotel restaurant, flawless service in the restaurant.

Hotel's Favourite
We visited the Apollon in October 2020 we were lucky as Kos was not on the UK quarantine list. This was our 5th visit to this hotel and again we were not disappointed. The hotel is very aware of COVID and the staff wear masks. When you go into the restaurant you have to wear gloves. Someone mentioned about people not wearing masks in the restaurant I must admit I think that would be a good idea as people can breath all over the food. The lady on reception was very helpful as when we arrived we asked to change rooms. We had been put into a room on the third floor but as I explained hubby has a heart condition and can’t do stairs. We only had to wait a short while for a new room and we went into the restaurant and had a meal while they sorted it out. This hotel is really spotlessly clean the rooms are cleaned every day and the towels are changed every day. There is always a good choice of food here and we never struggle to get a good meal. We always go home a few pounds extra. We love this hotel and that is why we keep going back all the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. If there is a problem with anything it will will sorted straight away. Hopefully if we are allowed we will be returning again in May 2021 as we love it so much.

We normally don't do AI for many years now but this being a family vacation and having my niece with us it was just easier to plan it this way, especially since the hotel choices were limited to what the travel agency offered in combination with the direct flight which otherwise would have not be possible from where we departed. Would have chosen differently? Perhaps but for about $850 per person for 7 nights (kids were free half off) and direct flight + transportation from the airport this was extremely inexpensive, comparable to Mexico vacation from US which is the most affordable direction and here it's part of Europe where USD doesn't buy that much EURO as it buys MX Peso, so if I still have you then I will try to point out the usual: Location: located easy and scenic, about 30m, drive from the airport in the very northeastern part of Kos island facing the Turkish coasts, walking distance to Lambi Beach or the Aqua Blu Beach - either one pretty decent with some great beach clubs, especially the Mylos Beach Club (see separate review as that was a star of our Kos island visit in my book) - you are not on the beach but less than 5 minutes or less. You can also walk into Kos island but with flop flops we didn't feel like doing that and rented a car - is a car a must? Not really, I love exploring the islands but I can see how someone coming here could be perfectly fine as there are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants around in case you get bored with the AI options on the hotel Room: we had one of the newer rooms in the "northern building" and I could not fault the room, clean, modern and functional - downsides are lack of WiFi unless you pay for the premium which I believe was about 15 EURO for a week per single device (share it via hot spot to gain multiple device access, assuming next to each other as otherwise you are indeed limited to one device only). The safe in the room is another 1 or 2 EURO per day... if my memory serves me well as it certainly is not free - didn't quite get that part - the 2 extras should be in my opinion included as they are free every place we went so far for an island vacation... in Carribeans or Pacific Ocean and this is Europe, the old world :) One unique thing was the water in the tap... it's salty! Brushing teeth was an interesting routine :) Upon arrival there were no shampoo, soap etc. but we requested it and it was there every day after (though my brother's room never got any in 8 days... not sure how this works but I would expect this to be a standard thing) Hotel Grounds: it's a fairly small hotel to be intimate but big enough to take a nice walk and admire the absolutely amazing plants on the grounds - fruits, flowers, palm trees - on this end the hotel is 10/10! You can walk around to the sister property called Apollon Windmill Hotel. The centrally located swimming pool is really where everybody spends their time while on the property but more about it in the next section Beach/Pool: so this is where it makes no sense to me... not on a beachfront, geared towards families but the swimming pool closes at 18:00 (6PM)... this along with the restaurant hours (also next section) made it somewhat impossible to make the most out of the day... the pool felt busy but never overcrowded and big enough to enjoy family time and then rest under the sunbeds and umbrellas. If you want to go to the beach the "beach towels" cost 1 EURO per day... another odd surprise but nobody checks/accounts for it when returning them so it's a one time shot to be honest and you are set for multiple days Food and Drinks: while the food was pretty good considering the price and there was always something to find, we especially enjoyed sweet stuff at the dinner time, the same can't be said about the cocktails... with all due respect terrible... worst cocktails, even when I compare AI from back in the days, that I had ever - after first couple days we decided to pass on them and we went with beer or just straight Ouzo - the barmen were super nice and friendly so nothing on them, it's the juices they use for the mixers, the few times we ventured out of the hotel I truly missed the times my wife and I travel as a couple and dine out, but as they say you get what you pay for! My other complaint, again coming from a person who loves to travel and explore versus sit down and rest in the same spot, is that there is one restaurant only and it just gets extremely boring to eat the same 3 times a day with exactly the same surrounding - again you get what you pay for. Lastly, and this one is the big no go for me next to the limited swimming pool hours, namely the times the food is served at this one and only restaurant - breakfast closes at 10AM, fine here... then lunch starts at noon and goes until 2PM so just the dinner is served at 6PM - so your option is either to break whatever activity you are doing and return to the hotel to for lunch as otherwise between 10AM and 6PM the only alternative at the hotel are snacks at the bar (which was just sandwiches and some single type of pastry)... or simply stay outside of the hotel and pay for a lunch somewhere else (which we did but not a great idea of prepaying for AI and then doing that)... another complaint would be the ice cream serving time - noon to 5PM only; oh come on! :) Things to do: upon first day check in you receive a free bicycles rental at the next door place - a very pleasant surprise which definitely was a plus, especially since we arrived really late and the lady whom checked us in offered us to push them to the next day so we can actually take advantage of that (we arrived 8PM...) - if you arrive early enough to check in already I encourage you to take advantage of these bicycles as we had a tone of fun, especially going up north towards Hotel Blu and then heading west along the waterfront. There are plenty of car rentals as well around and do not rent a car online - they are much much cheaper on the spot here (something surprised me compared to Carribeans/Pacific Ocean) - once you have that you can drive to Kefalos, Kos Town, Therma Beach, Zia, Tigaki, Antimachia, wineries/vineyards and so on - we did quite a lot in 3 days we rented the car and I was perfectly satisfied and highly recommend doing so as otherwise the only somewhat walking distance attraction is Kos Town - though it's about 30 minutes walk or more so in the summer sun and flip flops in my not be as pleasant, though still an option Overall: we did have a nice family vacation and quite frankly that memory is what makes me biased and thus push this solid 3 to 4 out 5... it has some pluses and some minuses but at the cost it comes, at least compared to what I am used to traveling in Caribbeans in particular, I thought it was a fair deal. Would I stay again? Probably not and would rather pay more to check off more options on my list of what I enjoy/tend to look for more at where I stay but again this wasn't a couples trip and we were respectful of each others wants vs. needs as a group/family and the way it played out I think was a fair deal at a place that worked out for these 7 nights.
