After a miserable few days at Captain’s Hotel nearby, I scrambled to find better accommodation in Kos Town and struck gold with Hotel Sonia. I contacted them directly and managed to secure a better rate, which made the deal even sweeter. The hotel is in a great location, just one block back from the harbour road but not too noisy in the evening. It’s a small place with only 12 rooms, but that means you get a much more personal touch which is noticeable compared to previous places I stayed during this Greece trip. The first two nights I had a free upgrade to a deluxe double room, owing to a slight mistake on their part with the dates I’d given them. The deluxe room is fantastic, with a large comfortable bed, ample storage, a big balcony and a luxurious shower/toilet area. I felt very spoiled as a solo traveller! Even moving to a standard double for the 3 remaining days, the bathroom was quite plush and the bed comfortable even though the room itself was much smaller. The air conditioning in both rooms was very quiet and effective. Breakfast was by far the best buffet of my trip so far (9 hotels and counting), fresh hot and cold items, decent coffee and juice and nice Greek yoghurt, unlike the cheap lumpy stuff you get in some hotels. They also were happy to let me keep the room an extra hour on my last day so I could stay out of the heat until it was time to catch my bus. I enjoyed my stay so much I’m going back there tomorrow (currently extending my stay on Kos…long story) and can’t wait to return.

We reserved a balcony room. We had a generous sized room with king bed, en suite bathroom with powerful shower, and a large comfortable balcony overlooking Roman ruins. The rooms are immaculately clean with modern decor. Nice toiletries provided. Air conditioning is whisper-quiet and efficient. A tea and coffee tray was cheerfully provided when we asked. Staff are extremely helpful - arranging laundry that was completed within 3 hours. A taxi booked was prompt and spotless inside. The hotel is perfectly situated to walk to the old town and yet is in a delightful tree lined street of homes and some lovely family restaurants. It’s quiet at night. We had a great stay and weren’t so upset when our return flight was cancelled and we had to stay another night.. During Covid there’s no breakfast but there is a marvelous bakery within a 2 minute walk. Thank you Sonia and your lovely family we hope to be back.

We arrived here late at night after reserving rooms direct, via email, for the beginning & end of our island hopping holiday. Our reservation for the beginning of our trip had not been recorded & the hotel was full. Sonia did drive us to another hotel & she collected us in the morning so that we could have breakfast before we headed to the port. However, it was only by chance that we arrived just as as she & one of her sons were leaving for the night; had we missed them we would have been stranded with nowhere to stay. On returning at the end of our holiday we found the rooms to be clean & to have everything that you would expect. Our room was small, with an enclosed balcony giving no view. The breakfast was as expected in Greece. There is no lift & we carried our own bags up two flights of stairs. We were given a map of Kos town & this was then covered in asterisks by one of the sons. He highlighted obvious places, such as the port so this wasn't particularly useful. On our final morning we asked if we could have our room for a little longer than the checkout time & this was accommodated. We asked about getting a taxi to the airport in the evening & we were advised to ask someone to call one for us about 30 minutes before we needed it. In the evening Sonia said that this information was wrong. She shouted, made quite a fuss & said that we should have arranged our taxi in the morning. This was an uncomfortable experience. She then called a taxi for us, 30 minutes before we needed it & it arrived at the right time.

We stayed in Hotel Sonia in July 19. The accommodation and hotel was spotlessly clean and in such a great location. Everyone was so helpful and made our stay very pleasant. Breakfast was lovely with Greek speciallites. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend the hotel and would love to go back. Gill and Ken, England
